This was a great episode. Thanks for bringing this to us. I so enjoyed discovering more about Dabit and hearing your discussion about BL. I first discovered BL three years ago in June, and I remember feeling like quite the noob in my first six months to a year. Having now watched over 160 shows, I still haven't tired of watching them. As someone who is a generally twice (or at least nearly twice) and even three times the age of fellow viewers I encounter online, I have to say that I actually love the high school and university shows. Perhaps for me it is about reminiscing about that time in my past. I want to take this moment to plug (for Dabit) my all-time favorite show (which actually overlapped with Bad Buddy on-air): Not Me. For me, the show is in a league of its own, and the performances of the cast are stellar (the GMMTV actors Gun and First are two of my favorite boys along with Khaotung, Mark, Fourth, and Mix), and in Not Me, Off also gives his best performance to date. Gun is my personal favorite of all the BL boys. In my mind, he simply can do no wrong (whether as an actor, an entertainer, or a personality). Dabit, you are a charming, endearing young man. All the best to you in your future endeavors.
Yes, I discovered BLs three years ago and have watched around 160 shows as well. Just finished Not Me. I am older as well and my friends kid me that I have fallen down the BL rabbit hole. Most of my friends won't watch BL because they don't like reading subtitles . Watching His Man 3 at the moment. I live in Palm Springs, California
Fantastic interview! I just finished watching His Man 2 in anticipation of this and at first was like, "Wait, who's Dabit???" I started listening through a podcast app first but as soon as I recognized his voice I went to the YT to see him. Lots of respect to Dabit who REALLY put himself out there on HM2 right after his breakup, which brought him to where he is today. The BL recommendations with the immediate disclaimers were hilarious, and I enjoyed hearing about how he is interested in watching how power dynamics are played with in BL (I need to know what that other series he liked but forgot the name of was). The outrage about how clearly the Choco Milkshake writer wasn't a pet owner sent me. (fr where the butt pats??) I basically follow all his socials now thanks to this interview and saw that he was going to start watching/reacting to Only Friends, so mission accomplished. Good job, Pixie & Heather! 😻
So glad I'm not the only one rewatching parts of HM2. I actually didn't watch it from the beginning. I found out about it through a US gay couple doing recap on each episode.

I just recently discovered BLs. I personally love romcom BLs, and being Korean I really loved "Jun & Jun." It had enough hot scenes, but was lighthearted and fun to watch. I like a few Thai and Taiwanese BLs, but I now watch mainly Korean (as I'm a Korean gal) BLs and follow real gay couples here on YT. I try not to go too deep into the shipping aspect of actors (friendship). When the History MODC leads’ friendship soured end of last year I was so heartbroken because MODC had been one of my favorite non-Korean BLs. Poor Taiwanese fans are still confused as no real explanation has come out, but it must be pretty serious as Wayne's IG follower numbers have gone down, with even celebrity friends apparently unfollowed him. 🥺
Wow, so that's 2 kpop-adjacent boys I know who went to Berklee! Gunil from the band Xdinary Heroes moved to the US w/ his family in middle school and went to Berklee for drumming, iirc he got scouted by JYPE via his drum covers on youtube so he dropped out to go back to Korea and train for the band project that became XH. Somethin in that Boston water apparently lol. This was such a fun interview! I love watching a bl newbie discover all the shows and tropes and actors. And I can certainly relate to looking back at shows you thought were peak cinema early in the bl journey and wondering how you didn't see the cracks and muck the first time lol.
I also thought about Gunil when he mentioned Berklee hahaha two absolute talents!!! So glad you enjoyed!!! And definitely, sometimes you have to just leave things as they exist in your memory and not try to revisit 😂

The Thai Live Action and Anime Cherry MAgic are sort of close in plot. The Japanese Cherry Magic version has a slightly changed sequence, but their kiss is in the short movie hahahaha
Funny most people don’t like the first part of LITA and love the second part with Sky and Prapai hmmm🤷♀️I tend to agree that the second part is better but to each his own. I wouldn’t have told Dabit the second part is trash and not to watch it. The first part is considered borderline SA to some.

Honestly, for a second I was debating on if they had only watched the show on RUclips, which is the cut version, bc that's the only way it would make sense to me that you'd think it's safe for twitch🤣
