What exactly was going on in there? Stacey looked stressed out of her mind, Kat looked like she was in the middle of a full on mental breakdown and there was a…. Prostitute? In the Slater’s living room (?)
I liked her in the beginning when she was a much darker/grittier character but ever since she moved into the square she’s been treated more and more like someone with learning difficulties than a mental illness. She’s just irritating now.
@@jaredporikos2197 for what it’s worth I thought she was mostly at least quite alright at any point during her first five years (especially during Stacey’s initial bipolar storyline) and she’s been improving a lot since her manic episode earlier this year culminated at Southend but her original backstory re. marrying a more-lucid dual who worked the building site, having a severe illness which put a strain on her relationship/s with her family (including the son she said was dead until they came face-to-face again) and those December 2005 episodes was Gillian Wright’s best work and as far as I’m concerned probably always will be. I still wish her and Stacey (who’s just amazing) many more years on the Square but definitely Jean’s character peaked very early in the game and needs more consistency and being taken more seriously by the writers like she used-to.
@@Anonymous_Anon882 :D Yeah I have to be like Jean I love ya , but GURL what ya doing ! Looking at 2005 clips , She really was at her best acting wise! The southend episiode was so sad. Daniel was her modern one true love, I can see why she couldn;t fully love Harvey :)
@@jaredporikos2197 mhm-hm. I’m not sure if her and Daniel were fleshed out with enough on-screen time and detailed be quite like the next Jean and Brian but I get why she wasn’t about Harvey like that (and she wasn’t even well when she was doing all that stuff with him). And yeah, those 2005 episodes were in a different league of phenomenal. I feel like most people use that (and maybe some of her stuff in 2009 when she was helping Stacey realise she was becoming unwell herself) as the benchmark for her best stuff but a certain minority of people might’ve thought it was a bit too extreme and over-the-top for “just bipolar.” The general public aren’t necessarily aware of how severe bipolar disorder can be so when gritty, hard portrayals do come about it’s sometimes seen as somewhat over-exaggerated and “more like schizophrenia” (a common misconception).
Cracks me up when comes in with the crumpets and Alfie possibly dead then Stacey says she needs a nice glass of water to make her feel better do you girls want anything 😂
PLEASE continue to develop and keep the Slater family strong EastEnders, haha I’ll even put it on a fan video. I love their dynamics - as a male viewer in mid 20s having watched the show for nearly most of it... some of the characters within that family have produced an array of iconic, genuine and gripping moments or storylines through amazing acting ability, including Gillian and Lacey. Plus I love a woman who can pop off! 🤪
@@theeastendboy yes make sure to take one of the scenes from Xmas 2007 were Shirley makes fun of Heather because she doesn't trust anything that viberates. :)

When she walked in with the pot of tea when Alfie’s lying possibly dead 😂😂 love it
She’s a brilliant actress and I really like her
I love Jean. Even if she is a bubblehead sometimes, I know she means well and loves her family.

She's bloody hilarious, plays the part brilliantly! X
Jean is honestly me at school during awkward situations.
Gillian Wright is so underappreciated! She's amazing, especially at the comedy parts.
When she put the wine down and whispered I’ve had too much to drink is too relatable 😂😂😂❤️

Loved jean the care she shows to every body she is close to friends and family😊
She's awesome. The woman who plays her does the role really well.

Back when EastEnders became No. 1 soap for 10 to 15 years running. And Jean Slater was one of the key characters that made it possible.

First scene tho "then this great big fat man sat on me, he said he couldn't see me" 🤣😂🤣😂🤣
"There's never not a good time for a cup of tea!"
