I'm going to try to get them but it's going to be ROUGH being up against so many people. $90 is expensive but I do see more value here than like a $75 Midnight Runway doll for example. The skullettes on the bottom part of dresses are annoying to me now. I didn't pay much attention to that before but they're on Skelita, on Howliday Cleo too. They have such a one-track mind for design sometimes and I can't unsee. The Shop Disney set was beautiful but also about $400... I have to wonder if only shop Disney has the rights to make the most accurate version of the characters and "3rd party" companies like Mattel need to resort to making the characters as different as possible while trying to keep them as similar as they can.
I think the reason Sally is readying as more of Emily from Corpse Bride is her face shape. In Nightmare Before Christmas, Sally has a very small, round head similar to Jack. Meanwhile, Emily has much more defined and human features. Since this doll has a more shapely facesculpt, I think she just naturally looks more like Emily. Also, as someone who is extremely picky with their collection, I personally don't mind all the releases. I like seeing what's new, what people have to say about them, and maybe the hype will convince me it's a doll I need in my collection. The way I've always seen it is the wider array of dolls with differing designs, the wider audience that the brand can reach. So, if one doll isn't for you, it might be someone elses holy grail. However, I see that I am the odd one out since many collectors are completionists and want to have each and every collector doll their favorite brand releases.
As I like MH and NBC a lot, to me these dolls are perfect. They can't be exactly like the movie otherwise they wouldn't be MH. But I get it's not for someone who wants movie accurate
I’ve seen criticism of ppl wanting Jack to look more “monster high-esque”? If they mean they wanted him to look more humanoid but as a skeleton, he’d look ridiculous, that’d be the laziest decision Mattel could’ve went with, and it’s not like there aren’t monster high characters that don’t look humanoid, there’s literally a character that’s a voodoo doll, i think ppl are just knit picking bc Jack looks exactly how he’s supposed to look

I’m nervous for the launch… unlike some other releases it’ll be competing against fans of monster high, nightmare before Christmas, and Disney in general. Not to say other collector dolls didn’t have “non-monster high fans” but like, someone who loves Annabelle doesn’t necessarily care about having a doll version. People who LOVE nightmare before Christmas and who LOVE Disney do care (as a generalization). I showed them to my husband- he is not a doll person but he loves Nightmare enough that he really liked these dolls enough to get them. So I’m gonna try to get two sets so fingers crossed!

Good Lord Mattel HAS to get their release schedules and drops under control. The way they're doing things and pricing things makes me feel like they don't want people with smaller doll budgets or even loyal yet maybe not full time collectors to even be able to get these. It feels so greedy-then again they make it so damn hard to give them your money when they do crap like this.
I think these dolls look great, actually! I would not consider myself a die hard Nightmare before Christmas fan, but I do like it, and in my opinion I think they managed to balance the 2 aesthetics in a way that is very appealing. The only other MH collector I have that's based on a "horror" character is the Beetlejuice set. I think they will look cute next to each other :)
I think they are really adorable and even though I only like the movie for these characters, I'm not obsessed with it. I don't mind that they aren't totally accurate, and what Skullector dolls ever are? The way they were rendered appears very nice, and I wouldn't mind having them, even though I normally don't collect bright colored dolls. However, Mattel is notorious for dropping these types dolls well before funds are available for me; so I won't be getting them unless a miracle happens. I have no plans to pay scalper prices for them either. I appreciate and respect your thoughts & hope you are also, enjoying your day :)
Ive loved this movie since I was born, I love that Jack is trying to be really faithful to his design without looking uncanny. I've got an alarm set for 5am because they drop at 6am my time, I'm so nervous I don't think I'll sleep. this will be my first ever mattel drop

To be honest, I really don’t get the whole burn out with releases thing. It’s nice to see new releases, it’s exciting! Have I bought any of them? No. Did I enjoy seeing all the new dolls - absolutely. Did I want some of them? Sure. But just because I can’t have them doesn’t mean I can’t still enjoy the new dolls :)
I'm a huge Nightmare Before Christmas fan (I'm a huge stop-motion animation fan overall) and have a rec room filled with NBC action figures and some dolls. I would rather have figures & dolls that look like the actual characters in the movie... and these do not. They are Monster High inspired by Nightmare Before Christmas, so they are definitely not for me.
I find it very interesting that I also see the opposite complaint a lot (that these are too NBC and not MH enough). I feel like this was a tough release because it's two big fanbases who are going to want different things and there was no way these dolls would please everyone (also that isn't a judgement on your feelings I just thought it was fascinating)
I like Jack more than Sally but I don’t like the black & orange vest that I’m guessing isn’t removable. True he doesn’t really give a MH vibe. Sally I don’t like her dress. I wish she had more stitches I know that’s how a lot felt about chucky too. I was wondering if Sally would look better to me face wise without the eyebrows 🤔🤷🏻♀️. I do like her shoes and her bag is fine. Jack I wish I could see more details on his shoes Sally the necklace and headband I also can’t see details. I don’t like the logo on her dress either. The dress just doesn’t give me enough Sally vibes. Yes! I really want Zero considering Greta got a gizmo 😭🤦🏻♀️😒❤️🤗

I'm definitely reconsidering my comment on your other video about not feeling overwhelmed with doll releases lol! This month has been insane for collector releases, I really love these dolls but they are very expensive and am sure the drop will be hell, so I won't be too sad if I don't get them. Debating whether I'll try at all. I agree it''s odd for them to stack October so heavily like this, even if it is spooky season, when they haven't even announced the release date for dolls like Midnight Runway Spectra yet. Someone on the MH subreddit made a chart of the frequency of releases and it's uh, quite a spike this month lol.
Jack also seems to have heeled feet-which i LOVE , doll companies need to start letting their male dolls be over the top just like the female dolls too Tho tbh -i like the dolls(even tho jack feels too crowded n sally is wearin a horrid mermaid dress) but they also lowky piss me off lmao Like you can see they poured their heart out to make them respctful & accraute to the characters, yet you look at the tiff & chucky and its just two girls wearing spirt halloween costumes, like they didnt even bother making chucky look like a ruined glued toghter doll even tho thats a big part of his character they just slapped small bits of stitches on him(and dont get me started on tiff-) Like it just shows how biased mattel is for disney lmao
I definitely agree!! esp on the bias part, tbh I think it might also be because Mattel just got the Disney license back and so they want to make sure they put in more ‘effort’ with this pack which I mean hey, I’m not complaining. 😂
I like the Sally doll. I think she is extremely cute. I would buy her by herself if she was sold separately and if she would be easily available in Europe! So it will not happen!! 😶🤭
I have seen soooo many people say they would like to buy one and not the other...to be optimistic, maybe there will be people on the secondhand market who only want Jack who will sell Sally at an actually reasonable price
To be honest, I am not keen on spending that much money on collector dolls. I don't have any of the Collectors MH except for the original Drac and the (not so) collector Skelita. It is enough for me. I really like Sally but I am not prepared to go through all the hassle and I don't want 2 dolls either.
I really do think mattel needs to at least give more of a heads up when releasing so many limited dolls in such a short period of time so at least us collectors can budget for them, like majority of us not made of money so. I actually do like this set a lot tbh and I'm considering trying for it. I want to give it to my dad for Christmas, he really likes Nightmare before Christmas and said several times even that he'd love to have a Jack Skellington figure and this would be so perfect. Also would be nice cause I missed out on Elvira for my mom (I'm still sad about that tbh).
as someone who loves this movie, i’m SO disappointed with these dolls. for one, jack doesn’t read as a monster high doll which i really dislike. my impression of the skullector line was “fashion dolls inspired by famous horror IP” whereas he’s basically a one-to-one recreation of his movie design. i really wish they would’ve gone with a regular monster high male head with face paint. also i HATE the orange vest, it makes sally’s bright colors pop way less and it just looks gaudy on him. as for sally, i didn’t think about it until you mentioned it but she DOES read very emily from corpse bride. im also really not a fan of the dress. aside from the fact that it’s another mermaid dress, it just looks BAD. there’s too much black (which also makes her not pop as much against jack) and the print is just ugly. these dolls are not worth the $90 at ALL and im so disappointed because as i said, i LOVE this movie. im just hoping this collab opens up opportunities for other tom selick movies to get skullectors, like an other mother and coraline 2 pack would be incredible. anyway that’s my long list of gripes with these dolls lol
I honestly find all of these back to back releases to be so ridiculous, like we JUST had Frankie like what a week ago?? And now NBC 2pack like please- 😭 next thing you know they’re gonna release Spectra next week at this rate.. 🙄 (p.s. they better not lol) overall though I love them personally and I think they look stellar!! I don’t really have any complaints other than no Zero.. he’s literally my fav and it kind of hurts my soul that he’s not included.. BUT other than that I love them and I think they’re perfect and they definitely met my expectations :)❤ I might be trying to get them tomorrow but not 100% sure yet, but good luck to everyone who will be trying to get them!!
Lots of releases this time of the year is normal... for playline toys expected to be bought by parents for their children for the holidays. A dozen collector releases though? Makes no sense. They're cute but I'm fatigued enough to not really care 🤷♀️
I love this movie, not as much as others but still do. So I am pumped for these dolls. I’m glad I passed on the other collector dolls this month so I’ll be able to get them. I do feel bad for completionists tho since this now makes $480 worth of monster high collector releases this month. Mattel really needs to slow down bee cause over saturation does not equal more profit
i don’t buy MH collector dolls nor am i a big nightmare before christmas fan, but i do think these are some of the better movie dolls MH has done (at least it’s not another yassified chuckie situation). i like jack’s orange vest, sally has a bit of the same fabric in her dress and it matches sally’s hair which to me is just a small detail that makes them look a lot more like a cohesive set
Ive never watched the movie 😳 I do want to watch it now but im worried I will really want the dolls after! I do like the dolls, especially Sally. But i just bought Vampire Heart and Stitched Frankie so I really need to ban myself from buying any more dolls. But there are so many I want with Scareadise, Neon Skulltimate Secrets and the new core Clawdeen and Drac. Ive been thinking about Fansea Lagoona too. Then Spectra is coming 😭 Lucky I can pass on the Off White dolls. I like Raven but she would cost like $295 in Australia. Thats ridiculous.
Where's Zero correct me if i'm wrong i haven't seen the movie in a long time but isn’t he with Jack in most of his scenes. These are going sell out fast. Since they look alot like the characters you are going to have to deal fans of the movie.
Oh I was so upset when the pictures for the full set was shown and there was no zero besides that ugly purse they gave Sally, I kinda have a collection specifically for zero I was broken hearted
@RainonMel there is a lot more creative ways they could've given her a purse here I think, like the basket she gave Jack in the film, just so lazy I can't really excuse this company that acts like they're on the brink of bankruptcy for these collector items
I'm a sucker for romance, spooky things and Christmas, so I love this movie. I love how the dolls turned out, and I am sad I won't be able to buy them. I was expecting it for Christmas because I thought this month had so many releases that they won't release Jack and sally until later this year to give them all the attention, so I did not budget for them and bought Frankie, (which I had to choose over VH Draculaura and the off-white release). Returning it is not an option, I live in Colombia and it would get really expensive. This release really hurt for me because of how much I love this movie, but MH releases are getting ridiculous, I understand play line, but collectors? It is just too much.
Have been a nightmare before Christmas fan for years but I have to say...I really hate how that jack looks. I wish they stylized him more to actually fit the monster high style instead of just slapping his head on a doll 💀 I love the sally tho. I wish she came by herself
I cant believe i missed this video somehow! While they arent my cup of tea at all (not screen accurate enough for my tastes) i dont really feel strongly about them visuslly either way. Jack is a kind of cutefied version of himself and sally..well i dint think ive ever seen a sally doll that got her face right? Even the most expensive movie figures of her always look off. I think the look is just really hard to capture full stop.
I love Jack's body because I love unique MH bodies but that and Sally's heels are the only things I vibe with. Jack's outfit just reads like Hot Topic clothing and Sally's face doesn't look like her at all the eye shape and the eyebrows do not work. Putting a random skullette on Sallys dress and the lil jack emojis on his pants? What a weird way to try to "Monster High"-ise them. Also as a costumer/sewist I'm kind of offended by the mistake on Jack's coat in the stock images. Mattel needs to stop messing up on their stock dolls first Frankie's torn tights now this? Disney Adults and hardcore NBC fans might faint and break the Mattel Creations server and the aftermarket prices will be horrendous, but that doesn't mean they're objectively good interpretations of the characters imo. As negative as all that sounds I do hope the people who want the dolls can get them and cherish them, just because it's not for me doesn't mean I don't want other people to be happy with them

I have an irrational hatred of this movie tbh, when I was a kid it would give me nightmares although I’d watch actual horror movies no problem, the hatred hasn’t changed since growing up, and I hate these dolls,,, That being said they’re very well executed (pun intended), I think they look sickening. I’m hoping for a Corpse Bride release now!
I love watching the movie but I don't buy any of the merc. I like the toys that come out but again I don't buy any of it. As for the this dolls they look good I like looking at them but again I don't need to buy them. Sally's eyes look great but they don't look like her eyes.
I'm really put off with the quality of the clothes? Jacks suit looks fine I really don't like the inner part of his suit the red and all it just doesn't fit for me. And dthe dress of Sally? I'm not a big fan of the lower part of the dress - Sally is supposed to be like a rageddy doll doesn't really fit the fact that she has a mermaid dress. Either patch up various different patterns onto one dress or just don't make a fancy dress on her at all. It's what I loved about Sally's appearance is thats she's supposed to be plain and simple and horrifically stitched. I like the fact that they kept the creepy eyes and stitches on her but again i don't like the clothing quality. No matter how much they wanted to experiment with her.
listen, ı dont even collect monster high scullocter dolls (sorry for wrong spelling) beacuse in my country they are like 4 THAUSAND MY CURRENCY. ı just collect playline dolls from many brands (its not about mattel, its about currency) normally ı would buy a doll for a month. I hate overconsumption. But just for nowadays, ı bought a doll for a week and that was even tiring. Beacuse if you get something very fastly it loose meaning. I discovered that me buying dolls is all about that hype (mostly) When there are to many dolls to buy, the hype dies. Object are more vaulable in my mind when they are not something that ı buy ''always'' so skullectors should be something special. Beacuse of these, ı understand your complain about buying to many dolls. The corporations want to take all of our money in mind. And ım glad to say that ı was inspired from your ''ı didnt buy dolls for a mont'' and now ı will do the same thing and take a see at how much ı can save
I feel a lot of the skullectors have just been very lame designwise and lack a lot of quality for their price points, they couldn't even give Sally her socks and they do nothing unique with her design but another mermaid dress, I just have to be a hater here because I'm so frustrated how lack luster these have been and I kinda just had enough after the Chucky set

I definitely agree!! esp on the bias part, tbh I think it might also be because Mattel just got the Disney license back and so they want to make sure they put in more ‘effort’ with this pack which I mean hey, I’m not complaining. 😂

I like the Sally doll. I think she is extremely cute. I would buy her by herself if she was sold separately and if she would be easily available in Europe! So it will not happen!! 😶🤭
I have seen soooo many people say they would like to buy one and not the other...to be optimistic, maybe there will be people on the secondhand market who only want Jack who will sell Sally at an actually reasonable price
I am in Europe too. Apparently Mattel Creation ships there 🤔 that's what they say on the website. I guess shipping isn't cheap though
To be honest, I am not keen on spending that much money on collector dolls. I don't have any of the Collectors MH except for the original Drac and the (not so) collector Skelita. It is enough for me. I really like Sally but I am not prepared to go through all the hassle and I don't want 2 dolls either.
I really do think mattel needs to at least give more of a heads up when releasing so many limited dolls in such a short period of time so at least us collectors can budget for them, like majority of us not made of money so. I actually do like this set a lot tbh and I'm considering trying for it. I want to give it to my dad for Christmas, he really likes Nightmare before Christmas and said several times even that he'd love to have a Jack Skellington figure and this would be so perfect. Also would be nice cause I missed out on Elvira for my mom (I'm still sad about that tbh).

as someone who loves this movie, i’m SO disappointed with these dolls.
for one, jack doesn’t read as a monster high doll which i really dislike. my impression of the skullector line was “fashion dolls inspired by famous horror IP” whereas he’s basically a one-to-one recreation of his movie design. i really wish they would’ve gone with a regular monster high male head with face paint. also i HATE the orange vest, it makes sally’s bright colors pop way less and it just looks gaudy on him.
as for sally, i didn’t think about it until you mentioned it but she DOES read very emily from corpse bride. im also really not a fan of the dress. aside from the fact that it’s another mermaid dress, it just looks BAD. there’s too much black (which also makes her not pop as much against jack) and the print is just ugly.
these dolls are not worth the $90 at ALL and im so disappointed because as i said, i LOVE this movie. im just hoping this collab opens up opportunities for other tom selick movies to get skullectors, like an other mother and coraline 2 pack would be incredible.

I honestly find all of these back to back releases to be so ridiculous, like we JUST had Frankie like what a week ago?? And now NBC 2pack like please- 😭 next thing you know they’re gonna release Spectra next week at this rate.. 🙄 (p.s. they better not lol) overall though I love them personally and I think they look stellar!! I don’t really have any complaints other than no Zero.. he’s literally my fav and it kind of hurts my soul that he’s not included.. BUT other than that I love them and I think they’re perfect and they definitely met my expectations :)❤ I might be trying to get them tomorrow but not 100% sure yet, but good luck to everyone who will be trying to get them!!

Lots of releases this time of the year is normal... for playline toys expected to be bought by parents for their children for the holidays. A dozen collector releases though? Makes no sense. They're cute but I'm fatigued enough to not really care 🤷♀️
I love this movie, not as much as others but still do. So I am pumped for these dolls. I’m glad I passed on the other collector dolls this month so I’ll be able to get them. I do feel bad for completionists tho since this now makes $480 worth of monster high collector releases this month. Mattel really needs to slow down bee cause over saturation does not equal more profit

i don’t buy MH collector dolls nor am i a big nightmare before christmas fan, but i do think these are some of the better movie dolls MH has done (at least it’s not another yassified chuckie situation). i like jack’s orange vest, sally has a bit of the same fabric in her dress and it matches sally’s hair which to me is just a small detail that makes them look a lot more like a cohesive set

I do like the dolls, especially Sally. But i just bought Vampire Heart and Stitched Frankie so I really need to ban myself from buying any more dolls. But there are so many I want with Scareadise, Neon Skulltimate Secrets and the new core Clawdeen and Drac. Ive been thinking about Fansea Lagoona too. Then Spectra is coming 😭 Lucky I can pass on the Off White dolls. I like Raven but she would cost like $295 in Australia. Thats ridiculous.
Where's Zero correct me if i'm wrong i haven't seen the movie in a long time but isn’t he with Jack in most of his scenes. These are going sell out fast. Since they look alot like the characters you are going to have to deal fans of the movie.

I'm a sucker for romance, spooky things and Christmas, so I love this movie. I love how the dolls turned out, and I am sad I won't be able to buy them. I was expecting it for Christmas because I thought this month had so many releases that they won't release Jack and sally until later this year to give them all the attention, so I did not budget for them and bought Frankie, (which I had to choose over VH Draculaura and the off-white release). Returning it is not an option, I live in Colombia and it would get really expensive.
This release really hurt for me because of how much I love this movie, but MH releases are getting ridiculous, I understand play line, but collectors? It is just too much.

Have been a nightmare before Christmas fan for years but I have to say...I really hate how that jack looks. I wish they stylized him more to actually fit the monster high style instead of just slapping his head on a doll 💀 I love the sally tho. I wish she came by herself
I cant believe i missed this video somehow! While they arent my cup of tea at all (not screen accurate enough for my tastes) i dont really feel strongly about them visuslly either way.
Jack is a kind of cutefied version of himself and sally..well i dint think ive ever seen a sally doll that got her face right? Even the most expensive movie figures of her always look off. I think the look is just really hard to capture full stop.
I love Jack's body because I love unique MH bodies but that and Sally's heels are the only things I vibe with. Jack's outfit just reads like Hot Topic clothing and Sally's face doesn't look like her at all the eye shape and the eyebrows do not work. Putting a random skullette on Sallys dress and the lil jack emojis on his pants? What a weird way to try to "Monster High"-ise them.
Also as a costumer/sewist I'm kind of offended by the mistake on Jack's coat in the stock images. Mattel needs to stop messing up on their stock dolls first Frankie's torn tights now this?
Disney Adults and hardcore NBC fans might faint and break the Mattel Creations server and the aftermarket prices will be horrendous, but that doesn't mean they're objectively good interpretations of the characters imo. As negative as all that sounds I do hope the people who want the dolls can get them and cherish them, just because it's not for me doesn't mean I don't want other people to be happy with them
Personally I think it’s a cool collaboration. But personally I don’t like how Jack looks, he needs to be skinnier, his head is being so big is giving off nendoroid vibes. Also now I can’t stop seeing Emily from Corpse Bride in Sally’s face 😂😂😂
I have an irrational hatred of this movie tbh, when I was a kid it would give me nightmares although I’d watch actual horror movies no problem, the hatred hasn’t changed since growing up, and I hate these dolls,,,

I love watching the movie but I don't buy any of the merc. I like the toys that come out but again I don't buy any of it. As for the this dolls they look good I like looking at them but again I don't need to buy them.
Sally's eyes look great but they don't look like her eyes.

I'm really put off with the quality of the clothes? Jacks suit looks fine I really don't like the inner part of his suit the red and all it just doesn't fit for me. And dthe dress of Sally? I'm not a big fan of the lower part of the dress - Sally is supposed to be like a rageddy doll doesn't really fit the fact that she has a mermaid dress. Either patch up various different patterns onto one dress or just don't make a fancy dress on her at all. It's what I loved about Sally's appearance is thats she's supposed to be plain and simple and horrifically stitched. I like the fact that they kept the creepy eyes and stitches on her but again i don't like the clothing quality. No matter how much they wanted to experiment with her.
I think they're fine, but Chad Marvelous kind of just did such an amazing Sally that this just seems lacklustre in comparison to me.

listen, ı dont even collect monster high scullocter dolls (sorry for wrong spelling) beacuse in my country they are like 4 THAUSAND MY CURRENCY. ı just collect playline dolls from many brands (its not about mattel, its about currency) normally ı would buy a doll for a month. I hate overconsumption. But just for nowadays, ı bought a doll for a week and that was even tiring. Beacuse if you get something very fastly it loose meaning. I discovered that me buying dolls is all about that hype (mostly) When there are to many dolls to buy, the hype dies. Object are more vaulable in my mind when they are not something that ı buy ''always'' so skullectors should be something special. Beacuse of these, ı understand your complain about buying to many dolls. The corporations want to take all of our money in mind. And ım glad to say that ı was inspired from your ''ı didnt buy dolls for a mont'' and now ı will do the same thing and take a see at how much ı can save
I feel a lot of the skullectors have just been very lame designwise and lack a lot of quality for their price points, they couldn't even give Sally her socks and they do nothing unique with her design but another mermaid dress, I just have to be a hater here because I'm so frustrated how lack luster these have been and I kinda just had enough after the Chucky set
