@@imalwaysright Harley does not look like he is conditioned for 4 quarters of AFL. Every game just about he is cramping or ineffective in the last quarter. Can't run with half the pace he did in the 3rd quarter. It's observable and seems to be accurate. Obviously he's a first year player and a gun, but his point was Daicos came in his first year and set club records for time trial and training standards, he's just saying to truly get the most out of Harley, then he and the club should be pushing his training standards even harder. Or seriously go to work on his tank over the off season.
Why wouldn't you want the best players running the game out fully? Not a bad take at all its spot on, demand more from the superstars.
@imalwaysright Harley hasn't run out a 4th qtr strongly yet though. Kane's point is correct and all of the mind boggling Reid highlights (of which there are plenty) doesn't change that fact.

To Yze’s credit, when they had their closest to a full team this year they beat Sydney in round 3.
100 point beltings are never acceptable. Ever. But to say Richmond wouldn’t be doing better with a full team is a bit harsh.
It's hard to talk about if a team needs a rebuild when they have 17 players on the injured list. They would be doing much better if they had their full team.

You need to look at from the perspective of richmond were the only team to beat sydney, besides the last 2 games have looked quite good between a half and 3qtrs in every game prior to that
Richmond also look horrific because the midfield is decimated, defensively they are ok (when you get killed in the midfield every week theres only so much a defense can do)
The fwd line is also of great concern as no developing key fwds coming through that look good
Theyre probably an 8-12 finishing team fully healthy, so still need a mini rebuild anyway

You said these quotes defending your believed Richmond Tigers, as an excuse for their current poor performance at this time. Why is it the complete opposite for North Melbourne? They were in the very same boat, yet you go on that the boat is sinking and that they should be either relocated or removed from the competition.

Caroline Wilson scammed the public by selling (metaphorical) Richmond memberships telling them that the Taranto and Hopper acquisitions was going to make Richmond competitive only for Richmond to go the other way
Well we've had two top 10 picks in the last decade so it's difficult to get the players like the first three you mentioned who are all at the club that drafted them. And we recruited Tom Lynch who was a massive part of the 19 and 20 flags.
Bottom 4 finishes for the next 2 years would be the best thing for Richmond. Right now, only Gibcus is likely part their next flag. When you have sustained success for a long period then you will inevitably hit a patch where your best players are too old and your younger players aren't great (compounded by Hardwick giving away 2 years of draft picks). Yes the massive injury toll makes them look much worse than they are, but at least Yze is seeing the entire playing list and can make list decisions that most coaches wouldn't be able to. Pick up a few years of absolute young guns and then build a list from there

The rationale for trading senior players such as Rioli and Baker and Broad for draft picks tends to be a cynical one. Such an action would all but guarantee that Richmond languish in the bottom 4 for the next 4-5 years. Imagine the amount of story and copy that will generate for journalists and former footy player commentator/analysts. Bad news centred on big clubs sells.

Richmond won the flag in 2017, 2019 and 2020. So, the first one was nearly seven years ago.. you cant expect players to still be playing at that same level in 2024. I mean, as a neutral I would assume someone at that club would be saying the writing is on the world and its time for a rebuild.

Everything Caro said backs up that Richmond are in the rebuilding phase. Yze has to get good recruiters and look for young talents to pick up in the draft and trades. Do a Hawthorn and move on some older players for youth. Not all as you need experience to teach players.

Hutchy is correct, the recruitment has been the problem for 5 years, nothing has come through at all. Seniors lost by 119 points, reserves lost by 110 points. I am not sure what football Carro is watching, Balta a potential all Australian player? He has some talent, but every decision he makes is a poor one, cost the team 9 or 10 goals a game when playing in defence, he can do less damage in the forward line.

These so called experts continue to point out Sydney and Geelong, Sydney have won two flags in 91 years and two in 19 years, Geelong have won one in 13 years, 2007,2009 and was built through the draft with some bonus father sons, both these clubs enjoy the advantage of being off Broadway with a massive lifestyle advantage, due credit to both they do it well but so they should with a distinct advantage, Richmond are talking the political correct things but full know that they need a rebuild but you cannot say that in public that is classed as tanking, Baker will go west giving Richmond two picks currently at 2 and 3, then possibly let someone walk for a top pick also, Just so these so called experts know the 17,18 and 20 premierships was built though the Gold Coast/GWS compromised draft years

What is this rebuilding, contending rubbish.. Footy changes every few weeks, things change in a flash. Last year around this time they were calling for Voss' head, few months later he had them winning finals. Cornes saying you have no access to the top draft picks, must have not seen teams like North or Gold Coast who have been given 10s of top draft picks, but where are they, draft picks mean nothing, number 1 or 2 picks may become ordinary players, pick 30 can turn out to be a star

Maybe Dusty needs a fresh start on a 2 year deal with a team that looks like contending for the flag over the next couple of seasons but also has the infrastructure in place behind the scenes to support him on both a physical and emotional level.
Unless he himself feels that retirement is the right thing for him personally but from afar it looks as if a fresh start and new challenge would be the other option, he can't continue at Richmond I don't think.
