Michael Johnson, Jeremy Wariner, Lashawn Merit, Kirani James, Wayde Van Niekerk, Steven Gardiner. I reckon their 2x400s might just about offset my 200m anchor leg for the glory!
We can all look at Marathon runners on the TV and think, maybe I could run that fast, but then the camera cuts to the very enthusiastic person trying to keep up on the path beside the racers, and you realise, just how quick they are going. I recently did a race, that involved a pretty nasty couple of hills (the Man 'o' War run here in Dublin) and I did a sprint finish, which my watch told me was a pace of 2-33 for the last 150 odd meters. Andy ran just 13 seconds slower, for 5000 meters, mind blowing stuff. Not to detract from Andy's achievements, but having done timekeeper at my local parkrun a couple of times, I see the pride in people's faces when they PB, that PB may be 25, 30 or 40 odd mins, but all were hard earned and worthy of pride. So folks, whatever your parkrun PB is, give yourselves a pat on the back, oh and Andy and the crew, take a bow, seriously, that was super human running from all of you.
It is truly an incredible achievement by Andy all those years ago. I would like to say congratulations to Mo as well for being. 2 seconds off Andy on his first lap. Sensational effort
Great video!! 👏🏻 I finished 1st in the Killin 5k in Scotland on Saturday and achieved my first sub 20 mins 5k finishing at 19:10! Was a very good day 😊🏃🏻♂️
@@garygoldie9678 That is a Major achievement!!! That is my biggest running goal (even though I recognize I probably won’t get there). I’ve done a little over 22:30 a couple of times (not Park Run) but road/trail.
@@toadlguy thank you! That is a very good time still aswell but I believe that if you put your mind to it anything is achievable! Good luck and hopefully one day you’ll reach the goal 😊🤞🏻
That was lovely . After 10 days out of any training due to just feeling soooo tired in life I did a "post night shift" (NHS paramedic) run today, just 2 miles, but possibly the happiest 2 miles ever. Keep inspiring us. Thanks
I've done 3 Parkruns now and really enjoying them. Our route doubles back so I (briefly) get to see the leaders coming towards me. They almost look like they're sprinting. To think that this lot would still be running for 4 minutes after Andy finished his world record run is mind blowing. These very fast runners would be over a km behind!
OMG Andy what a machine. Congrats to the whole team for this almost victory. Love how you can put theses challenges in perspective for us. And love the way you present with two screens. It’s nice to see more than one angle at a time. Keep doing what you do, just as is. It’s fantastic 🥰
Good timing of this video with the Aussie guys coming within 10 seconds of that record over the weekend. Amazing how this puts it into perspective of how fast world records are. Well done team!
Andy that park run time is still unbelievable! I know athletes get older and move on, but I hope you still appreciate just how fast you were and all that you accomplished! Just curious what's your current Parkrun time?
Before I watched this video I was not aware of the park run record. The idea that Andy did this without supershoes on grass kind of bends reality in many regards. These guys all sprinted 200-400 meters with vaporflys on. He found another dimension to power through in his park run. The idea that he traversed non flat terrain at that speed is absolutely super human. The monologue about the park run is true. I know he held medals and records on the track and that's incredible in and of itself. But track conditions are intrinsically perfect in competition. There's just so much stuff to blame in a park run. Wind elevation mud grass... My mind can accept beating an animal like a cheetah on the track in a foot race easier than I can accept Andy's speed in a park run. The biggest smile I've had watching a video by the running channel.
Wow, Andy that was an amazing feat, I struggle to get 8 minute miles🤣 I can't imagine be that fast! Great video , great effort by all, I really did think you had it!
Yeah well someone did 13:53 at Launceston Tasmania last Saturday…. The course is 70 gravel road…. Someone ran with him for like 3km…. On a tarmac ParkRun he will break the world record.
Great video, great challenge. Loved it. Keep an eye on James Hansen, who ran 13:53 at Launceston parkrun in Tasmania on Saturday. He missed his flights to Adelaide for the Aussie XC Champs, so with nothing better to do on a Saturday morning, rocked up to parkrun and came within 5 seconds of Andy's record. You blokes should have a chat with him.
Absolutely blown away by that! It really puts it into perspective. Andy Badderly you legend!🎉🎉. The others should be bowing to your awesomeness rather than teasing 😜😜. But then….😊🤣
The fact that he was only 11 seconds behind my first 2 mile pr (13:37) in a 5k is absolutely Vin Dieseling! With not so good shoes, on grass, no pacer, and what seems like not the best diet he could have had at that time, it seems super complex, even though it's simple in the grand scheme of things, it seems soooo hard to understand, HOW he did it!
What a great video. You have a great team there. Although if Rick was there you may have done it. 😂 I did my own 5k race today no where near Andy’s Time. But Watching you guys race around that track. I’m looking forward to track training tomorrow. So thanks for the inspiration
Wonderful video! 400m segments @ 2:48 pace would be out of the question for me, but I think I could pitch in 2 or 3 200m sprints close to that pace. I regularly tack on 6x200m hill repeats @ 3:20 pace (about 40 seconds) at the end of my easy runs, so on a flat track with more rest in between, 33-34s 200m would be within reach.
Cool! Look like you have a lots of fun and you all are doing great! …but the question is… How many people do we need to make one Andy? :) Inspiring and fun to watch!

@@runningchannel no, you have to or there is no transfer of distance and time (speed). Slapping someones back or something doesn't work because you actually have to pass the displacement of the movement the proper way to be official.
