Thanks a lot for this Fr. Joe Tetlow. As a psychotherapist and spiritual director, this best articulated my experiences which I have been struggling to name. This is an experience that proves there is one Spirit, as you said, the same Spirit who used a pattern to shape Jesus, Ignatius, your self, myself and the rest of those who seek and hunger for God. Much gratitude and I look forward to your book reaching my shores in the Philippines.
The saying, "You cannot give what you do not have" is heretical. If we take this phrase at its meaning, then it denies the possibility that God's grace can be made present through someone who is sinful, because someone who is sinful does not have God's grace. "You cannot give what you do not have" is an unfortunate intrusion of the psychological into the spiritual. There is no place in the Spiritual Exercises where this idea is presented or promoted.
There is NO human heart of Christ - except the physical organ that is part of His Sacred Humanity. There is only ONE PERSONAL SUBJECT in Our Lord Jesus Christ - and that Personal Subject is God the Son - Who is Consubstantial with God the Father and God the Holy Spirit from all eternity. Thus, we speak of Our Lord's Sacred Heart, at the CORE of His Sacred Person not His human heart. The Fire in that Heart is the Divine & Infinite Love of the inner-Trinitarian Life of the Blessed Trinity - which will cleanse us of our sins - and enable us to partake in the Love of the Blessed Trinity - IF we obey the Divine Will, including the Divine Will in regards to the moral life, as traditionally taught by the Catholic Church. The loss of the Catholic and Apostolic Faith is at the root of the modern day apostasy going on in the Jesuit order - which is sadly leading so many souls along the path to damnation - rather than toward eternal communion with Our Lord Jesus Christ and the entire Blessed Trinity. No wonder St. Ignatius is often depicted with tears running down his cheeks - how sad this loss must make this great Saint. May Our Lady soon defeat the demonic influences now permeating this once great religious order.
