Honestly, for the current situation the campus is small and fees is really on very high side but I think 10 year down the line, Tanzania will start seeing the significance of these Institutes. And yes, if you are going to be taught by IIT M teachers, ahhh that's the real deal. When we started these Institutes in India, people were like why are you spending so much on education in a poor country which needs food; Many years down the line this is the best India has made since it's inception, these institutes shaped the a generations of amazing engineers and genius who later went to define the corporate and political landscape of India.
most such institutes in india started from makeshift campus before getting good big campus infra, they have started small but there is lots of improvement that may happen in the future. And initially Indian IIT produced best engineers for foreign countries as the industry to work was just not there, Indian IT revolution was basically thanks to so many private engineering college students. Same with AIIMS whose half of students went abroad despite need of doctors in India. We didnt prepare diploma educated workers for manufacturing just produced theoretical students who did well in field like IIT, so yeah there was truth to that criticism, it was based on soviet model that produced at least high class tech for soviets but did badly in producing the daily needs tech products where countries like Germany succeeded thanks to their apprenticeship system.
Tuition seems a bit expensive I hope they use it for research equipment and technology and have uninterrupted wifi. Also hope the campus gets bigger for sure. I will like to see it, studying similar field in the US. I would like to visit in the future. Love Zanzibar
I am happy with the choice of course they decided with. Very strategic, and the location as well. They will need to brute force the tech infrastructure issues but there are lots of opportunities to innovate education there
IITs in India gets only 8% of from tuition fee in comparision to what they spend on an student. This is to make them affordable for both and create greate minds in India but I dont think they should spend like that on campus in some other country so I feel tuition fee is justified
Appreciate your efforts my brother...❤ Love and support from India... ❤ Let's join hands and move towards a better future for both India and Whole African Union.... 🙏👍
Who in Africa can afford 12,000 usd per year for school fees ?. We are not even talking about 4,800 usd for accommodation 🤷. This institution is for the rich Tanzanian kids & politicians children. Poor people cannot afford such exorbitant fees.
This much IIT spents every year on each student in India. If it opens Overseas campus for the quality education it suppose not to spent taxpayers money. Isn't that reasonable. Still the fees r not much as non govt quality institutions like IBS or IIMs in India incurr more than it.
@@rakeshmuthyala4229 You can't certainly say that. IITs are IIT because it attract the BEST of the BEST brains in a country of 1.4 Billion People. You can't certainly get the same quality of students which eventually dilute the institute prestige. You will not get MIT or HARVARD anywhere else in the world.
We should know that Director, Professors, and people from our government, know this very well... So they will definitely have a certain fixed criteria for admission... To get some of the best minds in Tanzania, and propel them forward...

Fees look a bit on the higher side, maybe the upper class can afford it there and Indian govt shud offer some scholarships along with Tanzania govt for meritorious students.

The most important part of IIT is not its name or its campus, its the teachers, the spirit of learning and excellence.

Such tution fees for a place like Africa is beyond imagination
Yes, it doesn't correlate with the income levels, I bet only big businessman would afford this
