-The instant the barrier broke, every single mage inside it (except Fern) had the exaxt same thought: "Oh shit." 🤣
-I swear, Serie sounded like a mob boss with "This is how you greet me after a thousand years?" Real "You ask this of me on the day of my daughter's wedding?" vibes.
-"I'm not going to cast it." Fear not, there will be plenty of fan art where she does. 🥸
-Denken got hands. "I cast Uppercut!"
Denken came out of nowhere and shot up to being my favorite character in this anime XD

The really clever bit about this episode is the very beginning. It gives the answer as to why neither Flamme nor her master could ultimately defeat the demon king.
For all their power, they just couldn't imagine bringing peace. And magic needs imagination.
I love the through line that magic is about imagination and Flamme saying "you can't imagine yourself living in a peaceful era."
Literally gave me goosebumps. Its common for veterans to never be able to blend back to society after a war. To them it was what they were born to do
The moment of breaking the barrier was sooo cool. The visuals, the music, the implications. Everything perfect.
Just noticed how skilled Fern is at defensive magic. She's the only one who regularly blocks with only a single hex.
Well Frieren taught her to focus on one spot and predict the attack. Her defense is almost impenatrable

I suspect denken grew up in the streets as a scrapper who learned to fight to survive as a young man but mellowed as an old man.
Mellowed... Into using flame tornados instead of fisticuffs....
He had a strong master
I hope Frieren gets another season because if you think Denken's cool now, wait until you learn more about why exactly he wanted to go north to visit that grave.
I respect Denken so much regardless of where he ends up landing on the enemy/ally spectrum. He's practical to a fault and he does what he has to in order to achieve his goals, which is probably why he's been able to achieve such success in his life. Sure, he's clearly also a powerful mage, which helps, but it takes more than just power to achieve the status he has.

Fun fact, Serie has the same VA as Killua. I knew I recognized that weirdly deep voice from somewhere.
I like how Flamme stands up physically when she disagrees with her master.

I’m assuming there’s a bare minimum of water she needs to manipulate, humans probably have enough but she also has to interact with it first right?
They said it´s a matter of visualization. I can believe it being hard to imagine how the water is located inside a persons body if you don´t know about cells or how blood vessels function. Since it´s a world where priests use healing magic, medicinal tech and knowledge is probably not very advanced.
