  • MGs Go Racing In The Streets!
Racing is an important part of the MG history. Sam and MIles Collier imported the first MGs and began racing them on their father's estate in upstate NY. They helped Cameron Argetsinger get sports car road racing started again after the 2nd world war with the 1948 Watkins Glen Grand Prix.
The 1994 Collier Cup marked a reinvigoration of MG vintage racing at the Glen. A reenactment of the '48 race over the original street course is exciting, even today! Several competitors in that first race tell the story in their own words.
While this is the 40th anniversary of the original Collier Cup race, what we see here is the MG Vintage Racers competing in the Vintage Collier Cup.

You can't listen to this and not start thinking about "The Red Car." I'm so proud to own my TC, soon to be finished on the restoration. I have no idea if my car was raced at the Glen as the only history I have of the car begins in the late 60's/ early 70's but I do know it was always a Northeast area car.
