    Blas is a great drummer..such a nice guy too.. Even when he was on top of the world with Slaughter, one of my friends had a meet and great with the band. I talked drums with him, and he walked me down to the stage to check out his new set when they were opening for the Damn Yankees.

    • @johannjohann6523
      @johannjohann6523 23 дня назад +2

      I saw that tour/show as well. Blas was always the best part of Slaughter. Course I'm a drummer too so a little bias maybe. Nah. My theory (which isn't much of a theory really) is: Behind every great band is an even greater drummer. (not that I am suggesting Slaughter was a "great" band. More like "okay". lol Never got into the Hair Metal thing too much.) May I suggest some ear candy? Robot God, 3 piece from down under, Australia. I haven't been this excited about a band since I came across Clutch in the early 2000's (which is still my favorite Rock Band, Jean Paul one of my Fav drummers). Their latest album: "Robot God - Portal Within" is pretty impressive. Check out the 1st Track "Long Way Road". A 13 minute introduction to the band that goes 7 minutes before any singing. Personally, I think a double bill of Robot God and Clutch would make for an awesome evening! Robot God express the Magic of Music where the sum is greater than the parts. And the best bass tone you've ever heard. Even their first EP's sound better than most established bands. If you haven't heard of them, definitely worth checking out if you want to go for a ride without leaving the house. Now go Crank That Shit Up!

    I remember watching these on VHS when they were new. I do remember that they were expensive back then and if you owned one or two of these tapes you were considered lucky in those days. Funny how it's all free on demand these days.
    I've never seen this one though. I think Blas is an awesome drummer and showman. Used to jam the Slaughter in the car at high volumes back in the day. Good times good times. Looking back, there was some truly talented musicians in a lot of those bands back then.

    28:12 isnt what hes demostrating a six stroll roll? Because thats how I do my 6 stroke rolls on the toms and snare and thats how I was taught to perceive what hes doing there.. can even call it a par-a-diddle-diddle.. thats how I would say it in my head when I play that groove on the toms and snare. R-L RR LL (par-a diddle diddle). Blas Elias is full of knowledge and I always learn something new from watching these old drum vhs tapes. Had no idea he comes from an education background. I personally am self taught. Pat Torpey is another drummer whos vhs tapes I still watch and learn something from till this day.
