  • In the second session, "Recovering Christ in the OT," Dr. Chou introduces a better way to interpret passages than a Christocentric lens. That way includes viewing the prophets as intelligent theologians who knew the rest of available Scripture well and were supernaturally guided to use previously written Messianic passages faithfully and clearly. In sum, Dr. Chou states that "the OT has full meaning in it; we don't have to read things into it" [i.e. fit Jesus into every single nuance and story].
He urges believers to see the "anchor points" that tie Messianic prophecies together and let the biblical authors make the connections for us. Meaning and significance must be determined by what is in the text, not our own logical processes based on our external systems.
Finally, he sets up the third session by teasing that there is a way to "Reclaim Christ in the OT."
Dr. Chou currently serves as the John F. MacArthur Endowed Fellow at The Master’s University and Seminary. He is the author of "The Hermeneutics of the Biblical Writers" (Kregel, 2018) and "I Saw the Lord: A Biblical Theology of Vision" (Wipf and Stock, 2014) amongst other books, essays, and journal articles.
