Remarkable piece of history this must be the only film record of the Ruabon, Trevor section to Llangollen. Having traveled this line many times in junior years the scenery is authentic most particularly the entry to Llangollen station with the high wall on the right prior to the bridge. Alas this is now buried under houses and a bit of park.

Remarkable piece of film - the clothes of passengers waiting on Llangollen station do indicate the period. Amazing that filming from the front of a rail vehicle was possible as early as 1898.
The camera must have been placed on an inspection vehicle. It wasn't a service train as it ran right through Llangollen station without stopping while passengers were waiting for a train!
The film also shows just what should have been protected east of Llangollen station - the track from Ruabon. It would be very hard to get a line through there now, 120 years after this film was shot.

A projected route nearer the river is possible for a single track. Would mean extending out into the river on a waterproof stone faced embankment that would blend into the surrounding area. The embankment would also act as a flood barrier/defence for neighbouring properties. There's always a way round these things.
