Hello there everyone, here is the PV or MV for Gekka no Yasoukyoku by MALICE MIZER, in 1080p HD quality. This is not a poorly upscaled one, but a very good rip from the original DVD (Merveilles ～cinq parallele～ ). And yes, this might seem horrible quality, but it was made like this, to give a creepier effect.
Fun Fact: The title is the same as the Japanese title of "Symphony of the Night", which is a Japanese video game from the Castlevania series, that released a few months prior to this song. All members of MALICE MIZER were and still are fans of the game.

Gekka no Yasoukyoku is a song made by Malice Mizer and released in 1998. The vocalist who sings in this song is Gackt, the bands most famous vocalist.
Mana and Kozi play the role of star-crossed lovers (the lady and the sad clown) who were parted by the entertainingly cruel Death (Gackt). Their souls are imprisoned inside dolls, which Yuki (a kind-hearted aristocrat) tried to unite by breaking the curse but was unable to. So Yuki’s ghost and his aristocrat friend’s (Kami) eternally retell the tragic story inside the haunted mansion and hope that the boy in the video clip can someday finish what they could not.

it's because v-kei music (like metal) is inspired by classical gothic/baroque music such as mozart, bach, chopin, beethoven, vivaldi etc

When I watched this as a teenager all those years go, I didn't understand the clip at all, but I still loved the song.
Now, as an adult, I can proudly say I still don't understand the clip at all.
I actually did research and i came up with a theory to summarize all the information.
The Song: The lyrics of this song tell a story of two dolls coming to life and dancing the night away. This comes from the belief (I think it’s Buddist but don’t quote me on this) that a doll can hold the soul of a person until they are ready to leave the Earth and move into the afterlife/reincarnation. Knowing this makes the song come across bitter sweet as the true meaning of the song is to tell the story of a couples last night on Earth before they are reincarnated into the next life.
Video Style: It is very clear in the video that Gackt represents Death (or the Grim reaper if you prefer) waiting to help the souls move on from earth, matched with the lyrics it is Death who has given the dolls this last night together. The rest of the band all represent dolls holding the souls of the living and I find it all so beautifully sad that I can watch this video over and over again, the repetitive lyrics really bringing home the meaning behind the song.

I would constantly be on Pinterest looking for drawing references. Surprisingly Visual Kei started to slowly take over my page but MM always stood out with their incredible visuals and outfits. So I finally decided TODAY I am going to take a listen.
Honestly, I like the more "rich" sound of this version. The subtle crackling and echoing, the slight distortion... It's nice.
It's really good to know there are people who still remember this band. I'm a fan like most of you and the feelings that these songs pass me is transcendental. I know that MM is one of the most popular in Visual Kei scene, but nowadays this kind of music is unfortunately fading away.
