I think its the grandaddy of martial arts. If you go back into antiquity you find tales of this or that move being used to beat someone in a fight. I study 108 yang style, each move has about 16 applications, this video is only showing ward off recieve/ redirect...their is an insane amount of depth when compared with younger arts such as Karate.
@@DeadlyDuelsTV Officially, Tai Chi is 400 to 600 years older than karate (Gichin Funakoshi 1868 - 1957). But most likely it is much older, as Taoism emerged in the fourth century BC. The depth of tai chi also arises from its age and the variety of traditions and traditions of the internal arts.
Tai Chi chuan has everything and often more than most other martial arts. The problem is most do not train martial, or even for sport. These days it is probably wise for Tai Chi chuan practitioners to supplement with boxing, Muay Thai or any generic "MMA", and just try to perform with the principles learned in Tai Chi chuan. Otherwise there are many useful aspects of Tai Chi chuan for both health and martial purposes.
If they resist, they create a "bridge" or it is easier to detect the "straight line"" and simply releasing excess tension of your muscles will make pushing them easier. By then using the ground as their tense up and you "relax more". Its when someone acts floppy (completely let go of their hands) that it becomes hard but again the idea of the exercise is to train a particular skill. Its like me holding pads and stopping you from punching.

It's all there. Also stupid politics in lineages (BIG PROBLEM) in teaching properly etc etc etc affects Kung Fu in general
