I love the late 1970s HBO graphics. Such an exciting time in HBO's history, after a rocky start from 1972-1974, by 1977 or so they were starting to show some A-class movies and specials and had much more of a fully fleshed out schedule. Their graphics packages showed it, they were so cheerful and well made. I feel like '77 is the year HBO really came into its own. They had quite a good number of subscribers as well, a few hundred thousand by this point. It's that special little era between the primitive, bare bones HBO of 1974 and earlier and the mainstream success of HBO by the early 1980s. HBO from 1977-1979 (even back to 1975) is quite an interesting era. It also seems fairly easy to find HBO recordings from 1977-1979 but recordings from 1973-1976 are very scarce.
