Brother just like you wrote about what you were going thru back then, if you wrote about what it is like to get older, your observances, the feelings thoughts motives emotions that we feel as it happens and the reflections backwards much like ancient cultures elders once did when counseling the youth- you would have some serious smash hits!! Probably surpassing your old ones. Do 1 double album starting from the age of 45 or so up until now and the emotions that start creeping in. 😁💕💕💕💕it’s in you and needs to come out- just think of how many people this will help, how many questions it may answer in their lives and give them clarity.

Legacy edition of piano man is my choice, it has all the piano man album and a recorded radio concert from the early 70’s with this song on it, which I actually like more than the actual recorded version.

This is off his first album which famously had quality issues in production. It was recorded too fast and when he first listened to it, he literally walked outside and threw it down the street. That said, it's probably my favorite Billy Joel album, Cold Spring Harbor.

This was a promo for the album before it was released in which he was actually singing live I believe. I think they just put the studio audio over this recording. I may be wrong tho

This was a Promo, only some of this video was visible on the internet. This was actually a video of Billy Recording Everybody Loves You Now at Family Productions Inc. The audio was dubbed with the remastered version because the album had issues during recording. The album is still iconic but wasn't the greatest for Billy at the time :(

This mix is from the reissue in the 80s. With today's technology, even if the original multis are lost, they should be able to go in and finally correct those "chipmunk" vocals.

I think he always liked this and She's Got A Way but was just not overkeen on the rest of the songs with perhaps the exception of the instrumental Nocturne, that he did initially write lyrics for but then decided to just record it as an instrumental anyway.
I think the song with lyrics is Silver Seas. I have that song from a fan produced anthology series from 20 years ago

He needs to re-release the Cold Spring Harbor with the original mix. Fix the speed obviously, but the original mix, not the version that came out in 1984.

I always thought Cold Spring Harbor had a lot of Paul McCartney influence, he even looked like Paul when making it.
He had (and still has!) a major crush on John lennon's music. He used to wear non-prescription glasses to look like him.

Billy when he was still young, angry, and hungry. When success wasn't guaranteed. When he didn't have to mind his body language for the audience, and it was all about the music. And my how every inflection was both raw and on-key, and how every keystrike the same.
This is the Billy Joel I fell in love with years ago. Don't get me wrong - he's aged well, but young Joel is still angry. Older Joel had to slow down before he passed by Vienna.

You also got "Princess Diana"... to dance to your song "Uptown Girl" with a ballet dancer... named, Wayne Sleep in 1985 with 2,500 people watching... beautiful "Princess Diana" dance. They gave her a standing ovation, and 8 curtain calls... Lol, the only person that didn't like it was... Prince Charles... They should have filmed that very beautiful dance... but they only got 2 or 3 black and white photos... I did get to see the movie... and how it was recreated... I want to see your concert in New York... maybe you will let me take a photo with you?...

Billy looking a little like Paul McCartney from the Let it be sessions.
The 'Cold Spring Harbor' album I found to be a bit of a mixed bag, the four tracks that feel most like Billy is this track, 'She's Got A Way, Nocturne,' and 'Got To Begin Again', many of the others feel too self consciously imitating other artists or styles at that time. That's not saying I dislike those other songs, just an observation.
