I hope Sabres management and coaches hear what Casey said about Colorado system and also his initial game day comment on how it was the most he ever sweat for a morning skate!
A lot of people seem to be taking Casey’s comment at face value with no serious analysis of it. For one thing the Sabres are in a different place than the Avs and probably have to practice differently. Also he’s probably winded because he’s not the fastest skater.
This comment doesn’t make any sense with all the young players locked up long term. Buffalo WAS the leagues development program and has since fixed that.

Byram could be a real stud for Buffalo if he can stay healthy and concussion free. He didn’t get much PP time in Colorado because Makar is All World. He has all the tools to be a top pairing defenseman, and those guys don’t grow on trees.
Seems like a great character guy so far in CO. Finding his role really quickly.

They also traded away a 50 goal scorer in Sam Reinhard
