For years I wanted to shave my head but my mom always said I couldn’t. About 3 years ago I dyed my hair bright blue. I used manic panic which has a reputation for fading really fast but three months later it was still blue. I decided to get rid of the blue. I did vitamin c treatments, 5 bleach baths and 3 full on bleaches. All that happened after all that was that my hair was a vaguely puke green and was completely fried beyond anything I had ever done to my hair before hand. After finally doing all that and ruining my hair, my mom asked if I wanted to shave my head. And that’s how I convinced my mom to let me shave my head lol

You should have used a high level developer and/or toner instead of all that bleach. Much less damaging.

Libby Shearer I used 40 volume developer which is the highest you can get, at least non-professionally. The toner wouldn’t have done much considering blue isn’t a naturally occurring color in hair. It could have turned it silver which would have been somewhat easier to work with, but not much.
It’s 2021 and I’m in the midst of my annual Jenna binge. It’s never intentional. RUclips will randomly recommend one of her old videos then 2 weeks go by and I’ll have watched 4 years worth of Jenna’s videos.

I think because her hair was bleached but had roots that the blue that was on her roots faded but stayed on the bleached part hence why it looks so long
The blue part is the part that was bleached at the end of 2016. The blue washed out of her natural color but not the blonde. Her hair did not grow the length of her brown hair in 7 months if that’s what you’re thinking lol

FYI for anyone who is DIY-ing their hair... As a professional I would rather you go to a salon but we all know that's not always what will happen. So, I like to be helpful, not a dick.
I keep the vitamin C treatment WAYYY in my back pocket as a professional-- I have MANY other tricks besides lightener and this, but it does work in a pinch and here are some tips:
-Use a glass or a rolling pin to crush the tablets. The finer the powder, the better.
-Use CLARIFYING shampoo. Like head n shoulders. The cheap kind from dollar stores honestly works best. You need to "clean" the color out of the hair, use a clarifying shampoo.
- It WILL dry TF out of your hair. Keep a clay hair mask or a protein based conditioner on hand for afterwards.
AND MOST IMPORTANTLY...
IF YOU APPLY THIS ON THE SCALP DO NOT FOLLOW IT UP WITH A LIGHTENER (bleach) APPLICATION ON THE SCALP. You will want to die. It will burn like hellfire. DON'T DO IT. Lol. Not even Sweet 'N Low will save you.

this is all Very Good Advice. btw if anyone fucks up and puts bleach on their head after shampooing, or their scalp just hurts when the bleach is doing its thing, pour milk on your head. i shit you not, it works. it won't make your hair smell, i promise it washes out, the alkaline soothes your head. 👌

In case anyone has this same issue with getting blue out, I bought a shampoo at Sally's with red deposit in it (for redheads) and it cancelled out my blue. You can make your own by adding red dye to your shampoo. It's just like purple shampoo cancelling out brassy tones!
It’s called a Protein Treatment and it’s incredible. It deposits the color proteins lost via developer back into the hair cuticle so it also helps repair the hair a bit

I did vitamin C and dish soap to try to get red dye out. Lol my hair was like dryer than the desert 😂😂

hey jenna, toners are used to get the amount of "warmth" (aka brassiness, orange, red, yellow) out of your hair after bleaching it. that's why it wasn't doing anything to your ends, bc they're already a "cool" color. also, ya gotta mix developer (level 10, NO higher) with your toner for it to activate. (level 10 developer is just to activate a color, level 20, 30 and 40 are for 'lifting') a toner can't lift, it's just a depository agent.
whew. that's a lot of color talk. I hope that helped! (I went to cosmetology school and was a stylist and colorist for 3 years, I gotcha gurrrrl)

The point is toner won't lift cool tones. Its to lift warm tones (yellow, orange , red) out of hair. It's not gonna do anything because her ends are blue.
Caity Conn you've sort of got the concept. except toner can't 'lift' at all, it neutralizes or 'tones out' the warmth. it's just a depository agent, so it can only deposit.

Tip for anyone who wants to go from faded green to ashy silver - don't use toners, use pink (technically red is the complimentary color but it's too strong I suggest pink) semi perm hair dye mixed with conditioner because it cancels out the green and makes grey this way you treat your hair instead of damaging it and get a fresh color that's more neutral
Clearly, Jenna can do no wrong. She ends up at the right answer by accident, which includes lots of screw ups along the way lol. It looks awesome.

Yeah. Just came from looking at how many subscribers Jake Paul has and it was comforting to know the iconic and truly wonderful Jenna Marbles still has more. Phew. At least humanity isn't completely lost yet. Jenna's basically is the only youtuber i enjoy watching at this point. I somehow don't feel guilty wasting time watching her. She makes me smile when I don't think anything will make me smile. AND I dont even dye my hair! I'm still watching this for the third time!
