MENDOZA PARK in Puerto Princesa City

Truly a nature-friendly city, Mendoza Park in Puerto Princesa offers green spaces where you can recharge and reconnect with nature. This well-loved park was named after Palawan's local hero, Dr. Higinio Acosta Mendoza, who was executed after leading the local resistance against Japanese forces during World War II. The local hero's monument can be found at the center of the park.
It's quite rare to see this open space empty as it is located at the City center where people just pass through going to major locations around the area. It is near local government offices, schools, markets, groceries, department stores, and Chinatown (Valencia Street downtown). It is once the center of all the activities in Puerto Princesa. Most of the concerts and political rallies were held at the Amphitheatre. The Amphitheatre and Gallery tower on both ends serve as venues for some important events in the City. As of today, the office of Underground River can be found at the Gallery Tower.
It is also best to chill out during nighttime as the park is well lit and abuzz with life. During summertime, Palawan Cherry blossom is in full bloom adding a natural charm. It has paved pathways and benches shaded by medium-sized trees.
