She’s knows that he has fallen in love with Meng, she handled this really well these two were never a couple they were childhood friends, he previously liked her but she went away, now he loves Meng, you can’t force something that isn’t there, I really respect her for recognising this and making him face his feelings and not doing something that he doesn’t want. She also has too much respect for herself. Now he needs to be a man and tell Meng that he has fallen in love with her.
I think the old school friend is selfish she comes back nine years to pick up on relationships that didn't exist cuz her fiancee dumped her. Even though she can see that he loves ningmeng she still tries to pursue by saying I'll try my best to make this work.

If i were FL i wouldnt date senior but i would hang out as friends and let my heart heal and move on, maybe with him. I don't like ambivalence and I wouldn't wait around for him to figure his heart out. He wanted to give it a try with someone else, he chose to try with someone else, that's all i'd need to know.
