We used to have one when I worked in the laboratory at a brickworks and it was the highlight of the month end sample clearout to borrow the dumper, load it up with scrap bricks till the front axle was creaking, then try to do wheelies in reverse! The poor abused thing usually refused to start unless you poured half a cup of diesel down the intake, to build a bit of compression
Yeah, me too! I was 16 back in the early 1980s and the building site I started on had a couple of these dumpers. Three gears, not that anyone used anything other than third of course lol! Lovely sound :-)
The farm where I spent my childhood summers had a late-50s tractor (Steyr 18) with a very similar engine and I absolutely loved it! The Steyr had electric start but the battery wasn't always in the greatest shape so it was either bump it or crank the handle until you're blue. I haven't been at the farm for at good ten years but for all I know the tractor's still running and doing small chores. The glow indicator (a little filament that glowed red when the plug was ready) could be abused as a cigarette lighter, the hole in the dash was just the right size. These old dumpers hung around pretty long too, plenty of them doing hard commercial work as late as the 90s. Another tool I remember well from watching road works is the one-shot compactor ("Stampframme" in German, that should yield YT results). I think it was pretty much a standard petrol engine but one pull on the trigger fired a single shot that made the tool jump in the air and crash down on the ground to be compacted. They were commonly used on small trenches. Quite dangerous tools they were.
I remember doing airfix models in my bed room as a kid and enjoying it immensely. Unbeknown to me at the time I was actually getting off on the glue. I think you guys were enjoying the painting to. Cheers Phil.
Just a complete joy. Already watched this on Patreon, but well worth another viewing for the ‘2 mates talking bollocks whilst fettling old iron’. Sublime
I love the bit where you're waving Mark in towards the pot until he clumps it and then tell him he's all good and he nods. Made me laugh! As did the spooge joke at the end. Never gets old.
Thank you for another amazing video we don’t have a lot of people in the states that are providing content and humor without trying to be movie stars. So thanks for just being you.
Max, love your stuff, just a suggestion why don’t you get a couple of goats? You could put them on long tethers, put out some water in a large plastic tub, and let them eat all the flora around where you have decided to create storage areas. You might find you have more gear than you remember, ha ha. All the best 👍👍
They might try to eat some of the gear too. At least rubber bits definitely aren't goat-safe, steel should be, unless the goats start climbing and denting panels.
Love the collection of old diesel engines simple reliable and easy to fix British engineering from the 60s and 70s was brilliant I have two David brown s 67 and 73 used everyday what a collection of handy tools you have assuming years to build up
Recycled glass for the blast media, sounds like the perfect excuse to enjoy your favourite beer.. cracking job as always from everyone's favourite comedy double-act... for a minuite, I thought you were building a 6x6..
Hi Max. Great video as always. I see your home has sprouted a few more solar panels. Can you do an update video on your off grid system. There some of your best videos. Keep up the great work. Cheers. Matt
I've just finished a 35 episode saga detailing the upgrading of my batteries and solar, all over on my Patreon. I will at somepoint do a (much shorter!) update to be posted here on the public channel.
Fun fact re: Magic Roundabout. The actress Emma Thompson is the daughter of Eric Thompson who created and performed the English narration. 'Dad was given these little films that were made by the French…and dad was a total Francophobe; couldn’t stand the French...anyway, he would just watch the films and make things up, so naturally they got slightly out of hand sometimes, because they were odd little films," BBC Radio 5 - 2014
In the magic brambles the fairies hide away all the important parts of the magical invisible Landie in this fascinating instalment max and his offsider both with perfectly formed beards rescue the the magic axles and blast off the fairies spells and protect them with cold metal power oooarr.
Very timely video as I am about to start grit blasting for the first time! Nice to know that the more beer I drink the cheaper the media will become :) Magic Roundabout writer Serge Danot was a big fan of LSD so the crazy was built in to the scipts as well as the visuals.
Wonderful content as ever, however, I can't be the only one who wanted to hear the end of Marks story. A compressor stall on your one remaining engine is pretty serious............
Great new Max game. Hear a knackered diesel engine in the distance, but can't see what vehicle it is yet? Guess which piece of ropey old machinery Max has fired up for today's video.
Terrified young children. . . Well that could be Pipkins, moomin troll or even rainbow when the bear had no eyes for a series :o The Herb garden is fun, recommended watch, especially when parsley pretends he has been shot. Brilliant acting by the lion.
I’ve never worked on the two cylinder duetz compressor because it never broke down :o Komatzoo PC05 was the other one. Normally a hire fleet can kill anything, but not them :o)
If I ever go disc the heystee swivel casting is the neatest conversion and uses defender discs and pads and callipers AND fits in the standard lr wheel Maybe I should bite the bullet as they aren’t going to get cheaper!
and one thing i do love when Max & Mark are working on something is we will often join them mid-way through the most random ( and fascinating ) conversation

A thought, a Land rover with a Lexus 450h hybrid transmission with 4x4 as an EV conversion ?
I'm impressed with your axle growing and harvesting skills. How long do you have to leave them before they are big enough for the Zil?
Zil axles need a good few more years, preferably with very cold winters to harden off the new growth
🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣
You two need your own sitcom.
I think we're watching it right now.
The Max & Mark Show! You guys are precious! Long may you fettle!
Great banter between you two 👍🏻
The joy I feel hearing that little dumper idle is unexplainable!
We used to have one when I worked in the laboratory at a brickworks and it was the highlight of the month end sample clearout to borrow the dumper, load it up with scrap bricks till the front axle was creaking, then try to do wheelies in reverse! It is the best noise, takes me right back to my childhood in the 50s and perhaps explains my love of Harley Davidsons too, might be a good ringtone.
Always glad to hear the dumper truck's phat baselines in these videos.
I remember doing airfix models in my bed room as a kid and
enjoying it immensely. Unbeknown to me at the time I was actually getting off on the glue. I think you guys were enjoying the painting to.
Cheers Phil.
the best duet in the planet!!!

Wish you had your own tv show! Great video guys! 🚜
Thank you for another amazing video we don’t have a lot of people in the states that are providing content and humor without trying to be movie stars. So thanks for just being you.
Axle Slowly - took me three reads of that to get the reference. Now I can’t get the theme out of my head - thanks! 👍🏻
Good stuff chaps 👍🏴
Thanks for another great video. I'm amazed by the amount of plant you have sitting around.
I love that little dump wagon. It sounds like a 38 Chevy with a rod knocking....
Nice work chaps.
Delightfully therapeutic as ever!
Classic stuff as usual. Always enjoy Max's virtuoso whistling. Maybe warble the soundtrack for a whole episode? You know we'd love it!
Hi, another 'Dynamic Duo' video, loved it . Many thanks.
0:41 Chef kiss! hahaha
Hilarious. 37 seconds in and Max shows off his Banksman skills, that are on a par with my other half's.
Bosnian here, when little I was scared with babaroga and gypsies don't remember magic roundabout, maybe I'm too young

Put rubber plastic heavy duty sheets behind your sand blasting area to catch and reuse the glass or sand
Delightfully random as ever, chaps. You make a great double act!
Ah, work shared with mates is barely work at all! Great stuff.
Magic Roundabout was french. Eric Thompson narrated the english dubbed version (Emma Thompsons father)

Life if always better when you add a bit of thinners....
Excellent longer version!
very happy "thats what she said" translates well across the pond..
Trad Brit version is “as the actress said to the bishop”
Wow the gold that's coming out of that's hedge 😎👍

Yeah but has Max ever been to a Zumba class 🤔 is the important question of the day 😀
New merch - The Maximus Jemmy!
Nicely done gentlemen...
"that's what she said"....great ending.
You two have the most bizarre conversations!
When you go axel picking you need to make sure they are good and ripe this time of year, lol good job guys.
Well done my favourite RUclips 👍
The non sequiturs are hilarious.
I always enjoy your video posts but have to say your double act videos tend to be the best, love the editing.
Will we ever find out if Max has been to a Zumba class
We may never know
I had to pause the video to Google the magic roundabout.
When you were painting the axle, I thought you were reading a script off the back of Marks overalls. 😎

Thank you for that!
I believe it was Emma Thomason’s dad that wrote the made up script for the Magic Roundabout. Excellent video as ever keep it up!
I love the hedge store if you want a part go to the nearest hedge and have a ruffle
That was great!
In the magic brambles the fairies hide away all the important parts of the magical invisible Landie in this fascinating instalment max and his offsider both with perfectly formed beards rescue the the magic axles and blast off the fairies spells and protect them with cold metal power oooarr.
thats what she said nice one max
Great episode, love the longer version :)
Great entertainment both, fantastic work . Nice to see you back on channel.
Very timely video as I am about to start grit blasting for the first time! Nice to know that the more beer I drink the cheaper the media will become :)
Magic Roundabout writer Serge Danot was a big fan of LSD so the crazy was built in to the scipts as well as the visuals.
"Today is axle day!"
"Great"
😂
If you two ever feel like having clean hands ✋️ 🙌 I'm sure there is a double act 🎬 somewhere inside, great video
Great to see another video from the dynamic duo.👍🏻 Looking forward to more updates - about the Landrover, not the splurge!!😂
The Magic Roundabout was narrated by Eric Thompson, father of actress Emma Thompson.
Oh God, you really need to edit some of these to black and white and slightly speeded up 😂
Treat yourself to a Milwaukee impact. You won't regret it.
2:35 Should have been called Axel Foliage day. Ba Dum Tss!
I love this series. I can't wait for the next episode in 2024 haha
Makes me wonder who'll finish first, Edd China and his mate John's range rover, or Project Kermit... :P
Just stumbled across your channel love all the videos keep them coming 👍🥇
I'm dying to know what the convo regarding 'flame outs and compressor stall' was about, mark flying jets nowadays?
Wonderful content as ever, however, I can't be the only one who wanted to hear the end of Marks story. A compressor stall on your one remaining engine is pretty serious............
I want to hear more about the compressor flame out!
I can listen to you too talking bollocks all day !!
Channel rename: beards, boiler suits and blasting…. I love the full unglamorous rustiness of it all….
Coming on nicely mate, if you need any parts spraying hit me up.
Great new Max game. Hear a knackered diesel engine in the distance, but can't see what vehicle it is yet? Guess which piece of ropey old machinery Max has fired up for today's video.
brilliant vid
I'd like to hear more about the 'flame out compressor stall' incident please. Also, it was Emma Thompson's (the actress) dad.
Hello! 👍
Ugga-dugga-gun ASMR
Ashes to ashes dust to dust, if you don't take it out of the hedgerow it's going to rust...
More please
so if you plant brambles they grow land rover parts?
Terrified young children. . . Well that could be Pipkins, moomin troll or even rainbow when the bear had no eyes for a series :o The Herb garden is fun, recommended watch, especially when parsley pretends he has been shot. Brilliant acting by the lion.
I’ve never worked on the two cylinder duetz compressor because it never broke down :o Komatzoo PC05 was the other one. Normally a hire fleet can kill anything, but not them :o)
good vid
Frustrated driving a freelander, nice going Maximus.
comedy duo love it
👍🍻
please make more videos!!
If I ever go disc the heystee swivel casting is the neatest conversion and uses defender discs and pads and callipers AND fits in the standard lr wheel
Maybe I should bite the bullet as they aren’t going to get cheaper!
If it hasn't been pulled out of overgrown vegetation is it really a Land Rover spare part?
Spooge!
What seeds do i need to buy in order to grow landy parts? :-)
nice project good to see that it is still being worked on but where is the organ
Mark has been hard at work on the control system:
ruclips.net/video/i2ATKfa6ryQ/видео.html
aah , the directors cut
and one thing i do love when Max & Mark are working on something is we will often join them mid-way through the most random ( and fascinating ) conversation
He might have been half cut...lol
Title should of been x 2 Wild men of Borneo
Are them those miltary fire boots?
Well spotted!
How could you have cut that ending out of the original version LOL
Splurging is frowned upon in the Communist guidelines, Oops sorry i meant community guidelines. 😉
More epic.
Very entertaining. Is there anything you don't have hidden in the brambles?
Synchrotron? Steam locomotive? Airliner?
Hiya Max
Great fun video. What news of the DafaZil ?
hello lol
