I had one of these and a bull head, they looked similar on the outside, but the USA 1 cost so much more to fix and was a completely different setup. Still have the bull head in the attic, I sold my USA 1 in 95 and really miss it! Awesome work getting one dude 👍
I remember back in the 90s when RC magazine we're having competitions against the clod-buster and USA 1. Me of course I love both of them monster trucks but I was rooting a little more for the USA 1. I was 12 or maybe 13 when I was following them from the beginning. Unfortunately I couldn't afford either of them trucks so I ended up with a thunder king. Great-looking truck congratulations you have to be stoked I know I would LOL have a great day
I had this kit years ago. Then bought the aluminum pan....110 bucks. All in all i had almost 490. invested in the POS kit....i was lucky i found some young kid....with his mom to hand me over 500 bucks to get my wasted money back.It looked cool....but to me didn't deliver.Great video and good luck.
yes I see that. Looks awesome and i like how they released the electric and nitro version. It is a totally different RC design wise compared to the original. In addition, its on the expensive side.
I actually still have mine from back in the day. It has never been fully assembled. I had an RC10 and a Kyosho Ultima. Bought the USA-1 and never put it together. Maybe I should, better late than never.
Can't wait for an update on the track (s) and racing buggys. Maybe go over your lap counter and how you score points etc since you have inspired people to go backyard vintage racing?
I always figured this would be a Clod Killer. Not sure why it wasn't more popular and why it didn't completely take over the market. I always thought the gear boxes and four wheel independent suspension was superior to the Clod in every way.
I also have the USA one body, actually I have three. First one I painted black, with all the correct decals. Second one pearl white with all the correct decals, the third one still in original box got on eBay about four years ago. It’s still clear in the original USA one box. I also have the aluminum air Breathers for the triple predators. They are my pride and joy
Remember I was a big Clod fan back then. Had a Clod btw. When I saw the USA-1 in the TH cataloge there was a comparison test Clod vs USA1. If I remeber correctly, the USA1 beated the clod by a point or two because of better handling. I still loved my Clod after that. Probably even more lol. That test hurt my clods feelings :( haha :D
I had both as a kid. The clodbuster is far more durable than the usa 1. Yes the usa 1 handled better than the Clod. But that was about it. The usa 1 had so many short comings.
your joking, the clod lost to the giant truck with the weak plastic drive shafts, the monster truck with independent suspension, the piece of crap that broke all the god dam time, holly shit!, i had one of each and in no way shape or form is the USA1 better than a clod buster
In the late 1980's, I was looking for a monster truck and ended up buying a Double Dare. It had quite a few design flaws though so never achieved the success of its rival, the Tamiya Clod Buster. I just made a video of my truck so if you are feeling nostalgic for this vintage "car crusher", please take a look at the video on my channel, BlackSeaRC.
Yeah are used to watch him all the time, I have a bunch of parts from risky concepts, Got his wheelie bars all aluminum, three sets of his aluminum monster wheels, yeah now I Ain’t seen him in a while, curious what happened to him
Oh yeah, I remember the Kyosho USA-1 from back in the day. Sassy Chassis (the relaunched Sassy Chassis from the early 2000s) used to make a lot of high performance suspension parts and chassis kits for it. I don't think that they sold a whole lot of USA-1 parts so they are all as rare as hens teeth now.
awesome videos and collections of nice RC's is the USA -1 same size as the Tamiya Terra Crusher or the Kyosho Giga Crusher DF (both are nitro trucks) coz their tires are also massive. Thanks
I still have a USA-1! Never drove it much, or too hard, so it's still in good shape. Tires are a little dry, but no cracking. I'll probably soak them in some Formula 2001 or silicone to keep them supple.
The plastics were so brittle when they were new that your making me very nervous helping that truck lol. My double dare became impossible to keep repairing. Was the reason I moved on to the Clodbuster.
I loved seeing monster trucks on tv... I don't remember which one I rooted for... but nowadays i like Bigfoot because it was a Ford and it was from my birth state of Missouri.
( edit). (Just seen risked concepts hubs on eBay after leaving the below comment) You should reach out to someone and see if they can 3D print you a set of hubs. There are some really strong plastics to print in now a days. Keep the originals in the packaging.
Hey man let me tell you Something sounds like you Are grateful Your grandpa was a real nice man. Most kids these days take for granted and act entitled to get things And you know what they get it $89 today even 1000 doesn't mean Jack squat to any kid they just throw it down if they don't like it All the parents do is just say well you know hes got problems Kids these days just need a good old ass whooping A real good one that I really straighten them out a real good one like when we're done bad when we were little. sounds like you're a real good kid when you were little and you took care of your Corvette even though it was the back page item I still think it's cool especially after you still have all these years My grandpa passed before I was born I wish I would have got to know him I was always told that he was a real good guy and my dad raised me by herself without a mom. Taught me respect and appreciation no matter what. I like your videos keep doing what you're doing I'll keep watching.
I couldn't agree with you more! My grandfather, who is still alive, almost 90 is a wonderful person and had a huge impact on my life. As for my kids, both my wife and I are trying to instill a strong work ethic through their studies and chores around the house and teach them morals and values. Trust me, I'm in the education field and I see what you're talking about everyday. Thanks for the support and glad you enjoyed the video.
hey is it possible that you could get someone to make a thin aluminum discs to go on those hubs so they don't crack so they take in more abuse they can be machined maybe.
Yes I scored a set. I think someone else posted theirs and I snagged them up for $20. But I see that he has those and a few other items up for sale. Thanks and good looking out.
Are you going to buy all the new re-releases from Tamiya and the new ones. Oh and by the way the Black edition grasshopper two actually is not exactly like the old one cuz it has four CVA shocks on it.
Definitely the Top Force EVO and the Fighter Buggy RX Memorial. Hot shot comical and fighting buggy perhaps. Oh i do like the ford gt but i hope that tamiya also releases just the body as a kit.
1:30 yeah same, i looked at this truck in the catalogue as a kid but i unfortunately bought one in the 90s, easily the worst RC anything ive ever bought, i think i cracked 1 or 2 hubs but the main problem was those ridiculous dog bones, they would twist and break like every 5th run, this truck cost so much and was such a let down with all that plastic
I had this one min my younger days and it was prolly the most crappy monster truck of the all , it went to the garbage, but then again kinda cool to see it again
I had one of these and a bull head, they looked similar on the outside, but the USA 1 cost so much more to fix and was a completely different setup. Still have the bull head in the attic, I sold my USA 1 in 95 and really miss it! Awesome work getting one dude 👍
I wish he was still around, the stuff I got from him for my Mad force cruiser
Awesome to see the USA=1 on your channel, along with its smaller bro, the HR Vette :D
Hr vette is awesome. Im sure you'll see more of mine 🤔
My very first hobby grade rc was the Double dare I haven't thought about that in 20+ years. I would love to get my hands on one again

Hesse machine makes a few aluminum parts for the USA-1. I had the USA-1 NITRO long time ago.

Good news, the USA-1 is back better than before
yes I see that. Looks awesome and i like how they released the electric and nitro version. It is a totally different RC design wise compared to the original. In addition, its on the expensive side.
lol, thats not hard considering how bad it was
I have both those hot pink keysho mega motors still both working in good condition
Awesome. I'm still on the hunt for them.
I actually still have mine from back in the day. It has never been fully assembled. I had an RC10 and a Kyosho Ultima. Bought the USA-1 and never put it together. Maybe I should, better late than never.
amazing. that is the coolest rc I never heard of, that's what makes this show awesome 👍
Thats awesome to hear. Glad you like the channel that much. Yeah we got a few surprises up our sleeves. Stay tuned.
Can't wait for an update on the track (s) and racing buggys.
Maybe go over your lap counter and how you score points etc since you have inspired people to go backyard vintage racing?
I think when next season starts steve the pirate will go over scoring

I might do a short episode focusing on that article but i think it was in RC Action Magazine.
@@RCRetro Cool :) Yes that would be car action yes.

I always liked the double Dare a little more.didn't look so ginormous. Now I have two of them

Talking was super informative. Love to put my Clod Buster side by side to the USA-1. Like the old magazines did. But it is a beautiful truck
Oh yeah, I remember the Kyosho USA-1 from back in the day. I have one brand new in the box! deciding if I should sell it or build down the road at some point.
Do you know where i can buy the tires from these truck?
awesome videos and collections of nice RC's is the USA -1 same size as the Tamiya Terra Crusher or the Kyosho Giga Crusher DF (both are nitro trucks) coz their tires are also massive. Thanks

Yeah try silicone
Need to know where I can get those posters from! They're so cool
The plastics were so brittle when they were new that your making me very nervous helping that truck lol. My double dare became impossible to keep repairing. Was the reason I moved on to the Clodbuster.
Hi I had 2 Big Brutes and a Monster Vette also a Big Boss always wanted a USA1 but it cost too much!!
Very nice truck, those tyres/wheels are insane!!! Are they actually bigger then the Clods tyres/wheels?
I loved seeing monster trucks on tv... I don't remember which one I rooted for... but nowadays i like Bigfoot because it was a Ford and it was from my birth state of Missouri.
Like the video I liked and subscribed 👊
Nice thanks
I have mine but I’m looking for a rebuild kit I can’t find parts anywhere
The high rider was the same platform as the usa1 minus front wheel drive and 4wheel steering!?
Remember the axles on my Big Boss got bendt all the time. Had only 5mm axles of soft metal.
USA-1 aren’t even metal. They are plastic. Yikes!

Man I had one of these when I was 5 and I still have the body bo scratches
Just the body? Where’s the rest of it?
@@RCRetro sold like 7 years ago I had a yellow body and the stock body
Actually the top liked trucks back then was The Gravedigger, USA-1, Equalizer and Carolina Crusher on TNT.
Maybe Tony from CCxRC might know.
What do you do with the mach engine on it with that body.
I’d have to take the carburetor off if i was to use the jconcepts body.
Haha i was right. Love mine and have broke a few parts on it under all the years.
I am looking for an original resistor for the Kyosho Mech Speed Control. If someone knows where and how to locate them.

BIG TIRES=>MONSTER 🚜
Everytime i see a usa1 i kick myself for getting rid of mine back in the day. Such a fun truck!
hey is it possible that you could get someone to make a thin aluminum discs to go on those hubs so they don't crack so they take in more abuse they can be machined maybe.
Riskey Concepts has the aluminum hubs back on eBay!
Yes I scored a set. I think someone else posted theirs and I snagged them up for $20. But I see that he has those and a few other items up for sale. Thanks and good looking out.
So is the Clod Buster more durable then the USA1 is?
Kyosho should release it.
You should check to see if those 360 mega motors were 550s cuz they did make 550s believe it or not back in the day kyosho had 550 motors.
Are you going to buy all the new re-releases from Tamiya and the new ones. Oh and by the way the Black edition grasshopper two actually is not exactly like the old one cuz it has four CVA shocks on it.

Ive haven't seen anyone build a 90s tamiya bush devil 😕 on RUclips....

Yeah, I want this in nitro. Aweee, yeah.. ...yeahhh. ...hi-rider Vette is few and far between.
Hey you should probably put a 550-20 turn motor on your high-rise Corvette so it goes faster.
He dont use it 🤷🏻♂️
First post nails it.
Guess I'm First Loose.
Dang complicated back in the day
I had this one min my younger days and it was prolly the most crappy monster truck of the all , it went to the garbage, but then again kinda cool to see it again
Man i hope you dont break this 😉
Lol
You know that Jay concepts body is of the older Chevy not the one you have.
You should also put 20 turn 550 motors on this too.
Too bad they don't have those catalogs anymore from tower hobbies.
Chrome ruby red.
Sooooooooooooooo many broken knuckles, hubs, stripped out axle shafts and inner/outer drive joints...... Oh well, its fun......lol...
Check out ris6605. That is your hubs
Thats on ebay
