    I didn't know about this workbench, either. How did I not know about this!?!? Good video.

    Is there a way to set tolerances fir the fasteners so they can be 3D printed?
    TIA,
    Larry

      There is a setting in preferences for that

      @@Adventuresincreation Awesome!
      Just what I was looking for. I did a Google and a forum search and didn't find anything.

    How create thread M13? This not available in Fasteners?

    • @Adventuresincreation
      @Adventuresincreation  9 месяцев назад

      When adding the thread rod, selec the diameter parameter and choose custom (all the way at the bottom). Then make the thread diameter 13mm and choose your own pitch.

    Good video. I need to make NPT taps and so far none of the tutorials I have seen deal with NPT tapered threads. Do you know how its done?

  • @HaJoSchatz
    @HaJoSchatz Год назад +1

    Isn't there supposedly a gap between the bolt and the tap? When creating a tap as a boolean cut from the same part that also forms the bolt, then there won't be any gap and the two won't mate, no?

    • @Adventuresincreation
      @Adventuresincreation  Год назад +4

      If you use the tap, it has the clearance built in, then if you use the rod they will mate. You can print them and try it. Make sure you have "printable" set in the settings.

    I was following along, you mention creating multiple solids at the end, how do I avoid that? It's happening to me when tapping a M3 hole. If I set the tap size back to M6 (or set thread to false), no problem.

    • @Adventuresincreation
      @Adventuresincreation  Год назад +1

      The M3 must be missing the main body and trying to create it in air

    I haven't used this workspace yet, how is it for making 3D printed parts tolerances?

    Good day. Can you explane how to use thread bit to milling this thread model?

    • @Adventuresincreation

      Not sure quite what you mean, are you trying to machine a thread?

      @@Adventuresincreation Yes, I am trying to machine a thread but i don't know how it work.

    • @Adventuresincreation
      @Adventuresincreation  Год назад

      @@user-im7co9vj6e I am not sure you will be able to mill this thread. You can 3D print them. Creating threads on a mill is much more complicated.

      @@Adventuresincreation I am already print thread and today want to learn how to mill thread in FreeCAD. But I find only helix in path.

    This was very helpful but I think either I am missing something or the workbench can't do what I want. Bear in mind I am new to FreeCAD and I'm hoping for some advice. I'm trying to create an odd SAE thread. 13/16 x 27 to be exact. I can see how to change the diameter but 13/16 isn't in the list and I can't see how I manually add a custom diameter nor how to set the TPI count. Is what I'm trying to do even possible with FreeCAD? Appreciated.

    • @Adventuresincreation
      @Adventuresincreation  Год назад

      You can create the thread from scratch. You won't be able to do it with that workbench

    • @Enjoymentboy

      @@Adventuresincreation That's what I was thinking. Appreciate the confirmation. I played around with it a bit this morning and I think I managed to fake my way through it by converting to a VERY close metric equivalent. Since this was a 3d printed part the PLA gave me a little wiggle room so thread accuracy didn't have to be spot on. In my case I made it as a 21mm x 0.775 thread and shockingly it worked out really well. More than "good enough" for my needs here.
