I love hearing the old hymns sung by someone who prays and lives the words.
I believe that is why their music has so much power - it is alive with the Holy Spirit because they open their hearts to Him. God’s power of transforming grace is embedded in their music.
This song was the lullaby I sang to each of my three children when they were babies. I would gauge how tired they were by how many rounds of the song I had to sing before they dozed off.
Create in me a pure heart, O God,
and renew a steadfast spirit within me.
