In the end, if this was not the case, it would not make sense to even define the FREMM frigate as one single class. So, when I wrote that the constellation is derived from the FREMM design, I indeed meant in terms of overall design, certainly not in terms of systems. However, I agree that the Constellation is more closely derived from the Italian variant.

Nice video, brief and informative. For the Turkish frigates though I have to note that the class name is 'İstif' not 'İstanbul', TCG İstanbul will be the first ship of the class. And also the number of orders for İstif class frigates were increased to 8 recently.
They could have at least added two SPG-62 CWI X-band radars for the US Constellation class with one in the front and one in the back just like the Spanish F110.
It's going to be surrounded by other ships with X band radar, but it's role is anti ship and anti submarine which is why it doesn't have X band radar itself.
Take out the Flexible Mission Bay on the Hunter class Type 26 and it can have 96 VLS strike cells, Rumours this might be the ship made after the reduction to 6 x Hunter class frigates made.

The term cruiser will disappear from Naval nomenclature with the retirement of the last Ticonderoga class ship in the USN in the next couple of years. 9-10,000t ships being called Frigates is now quite common. Type 26, F-126, Constellation and Germany is working on the F127 design which will be up to 12-13000t. Size is not nor has ever been a deciding factor in what is a Destroyer or what is a Frigate

Most countries now classify ships now by role and function rather than displacement. Frigates are optimised for ASW operation while Destroyers are focused on Air Defence .
Germany does not want to name their ships destroyers or cruizers due to political reasons. Japan has a helicopter destroyer but that ship is a full aircraft carrier. The reason for the weird classification is the same, political reasons. 10,000 tons is nearly the size of a pocket battleship.
