Your videos are so inspiring that I’ve shown a few creative journal and art journal videos to some of my students in fourth grade. We now have a journal club every Tuesday. They’ve designed some amazing pages and Dutch doors. Thank you so much for the inspiration!
I just found you today & I love what you create. I have never seen anything like this journaling book before. It’s beautiful & very creative. Also, I have never seen that awesome craft / journaling knife - 😌. I can’t wait to see your other videos.
I have never heard of Dutch doors before, intreged I decided to watch, and WOW that's so so pretty. Thank you for sharing this. I subscribed too. Thankful for the internet connection to delight in so much creativity. I am in the UK.
This is really pretty, and imaginative. I've done something similar in a mixed media/collage album but didn't know there was a name for it - never heard of Dutch doors before! Thanks for the info!
Never seen anything like this. Lovely and creative. I will be doing this in a journal I’ve already started to design. It’s based on Alphonse Mucha illustrations. I have many stickers and washi tape to complement the main page. Ty for sharing and teaching the technique 💗🥰
Oh, wow, Amy. I have never seen this before. I love it. I journal by using other mediums other than writing. But this has given ideas on how to incorporate writing into my journaling. Phew. Now I am off to happily create. I love stickers. ❤❤❤❤
Like so many of the others commenters, I have never heard of Dutch Doors either! I’ve been journaling, junk journaling, glue-booking, etc for several years and am in awe of this concept. You did a beautiful job and enjoyed your creativity. Thanks bunches for sharing! Blessings! New subbie!
I love that you do te decoration first. Makes sense and helps line things up. However, I did think that a vertical cut were called waterfall and dutch doors were horizontal. The dutch doors are named after the farm doors in where the top of the door would swing open. I could be wrong though. Thanks for sharing. ❤
Colloquially Dutch door journal spreads can be either, but yes, they came from the actual Dutch door. I’m aware. :) I have heard waterfall only for the vertical ones that are straight vs curvy like this.
I love scrapbooking and journaling. Just a crafter in general and I adore trying out new ideas. Never considered decorating my journals. Best idea ever! I can't imagine how fun it will be to personalize each journal. 🥰
@ you have inspired me to try this method. Ordered journal and stickers. Only ever done junk journals so it will be interesting to try. Working my way through your videos which are so well done. Your creativity is amazing ♥️
Gorgeous as always! Love that collage on the left side, very creative, and so much more interesting than keeping them vertical! That sticker book is great too, I hadn’t planned on getting any more happy planner books but now I want that one! 😝
I've never heard about Dutch doors before. You did such a beautiful spread. I'll need to modify it because I'm one of those 3-pages -a -day writers, so I generally decorate only 10% of a page. Thanks for a fun video!😊
So lovely 😍 I love it. I never knew that this were called dutch doors 😅 I'm trying to start scrapbooking/journalling, but i find it hard to start 😅🙈 you make it look so easy 😅 Thank you for sharing your beautiful work. Btw, your voice is so soothing, I'm zen right now 🤭🤗
Thank you so much! It definitely takes some practice to figure out your own personal scrapbook/journal style - just keep trying things out and see what works for you! And thank you. :)
I reeeeally really like this sticker book and love the Dutch doors you came up with for this one! I will 100% be referencing this video again because I will 100% be purchasing that sticker book hahaha
I love B6 notebooks - this is beautiful these stickers have that folk art feeling that might also go with the latest Archer and Olive quarterly sub box. I would use those pieces in a planning spread😂
This is so cool, have never seen anything like this. I always thought a dutch door was horizontal. lol. I guess with junk journaling, it can be whatever. I would definitely want writing pages, not a sticker book like this seems to be. Cute idea though, I am going to do it actual dutch door style though. Thanks for the ideas!
Thank you! And yes, in the bullet journal/creative journal world - a Dutch door is ANYTHING that’s been cut down a bit from the full page size. If you search RUclips or Pinterest for bullet journal Dutch door - you’ll see most are vertical instead of horizontal. Another way to call the vertical ones is waterfall spread, but usually I see those as ones with all straight vertical lines.
Want to see HOW I use my creative journal? Check out this flip through of my last completed journal! ruclips.net/video/x49Pik8MRV0/видео.htmlsi=wjaTpuCkR5nedCKL
I write about the overarching things that happened that day that I want to remember in the little boxes or spaces. Like if it was a birthday, or we went to a show, or my toddler reached a new milestone, etc.
Amy.... I confess that all of this is so new to me. I think this is SO fun and absolutely beautiful ... BUT I don't understand how you use these Dutch Door Journals. Do you continue to make them throughout the entire journal? Do you have a video showing one that is already written in to see "how" you use it?
I am intrigued by your Dutch doors. I just wish you'd explain what the idea is except being beautifully decorative. I went back to 6 mnths ago but found no explanation. Did I miss it perhaps? How would one do it without sticker books? Still, very inspiring.
Every few videos I explain what a Dutch door is! It’s from the actual Dutch door where the top opens separate from the bottom. In the journal world, it’s any page that has been cut down horizontal or vertical. This is my journal, so I write in it. You could definitely do it with drawing instead of stickers! Or just with washi tape.
I’ve never heard of this before but it looks beautiful. Can I ask please…after you finished those pages, would you start the process again on the next pages or just leave the rest of the book as it is ?
I decorate it all the way through and write about one page a day. Here’s a completed flip of another journal: ruclips.net/video/xpo2SEuyz1I/видео.htmlsi=kO_mIFQL0mXwCffl
I have never seen this before. Love the Dutch door journal. Also, love the metal tool you use to hold open your book. What is it called and where do you buy? Tfs. Peggy
Thank you so much! It’s a helping hand. I got it from Journalsay. You can search “hand” on their site and it’ll be option number 3 or 4. Code AMYPLANSTHINGS will save you some $$!
I’m wondering how come when you use that cutter ‘thing’ it doesn’t cut the page underneath, but it just cuts the sticker. Like on the diagonal squares on the front page.
Thank you! I don’t know yet. I was asked to provide ideas in other sizes - my normal size is A5. So I’m experimenting and having fun in 3-4 new sizes as well. So far only one of them has a purpose. 😅❤️
I love your work, but I have a question...is the paper of your journal regular weight? Or is more like card stock ? How can I chose the right paper in this notebooks to do this ? Thank you and is beautiful and inspired ! ❤
Thanks so much! I use 160gsm paper in my journals! Archer & Olive, Happy Planner, and Notebook Therapy all have journals that thick. There are a ton of other companies out there though. Just look for 160gsm paper weight. ❤️
Can someone tell me how to find this particular Happy planner that was used in this video please? I’ve been paging and searching, but not found yet. I need those suns. Please and thank you. Great video thanks for the inspiration. New subscriber.
The hand clip is from Journalsay! Code AMYPLANSTHINGS will save you if you choose to shop. Search hand on their site and it's like the 3rd or 4th option. :) www.journalsay.com/?ref=sgclvgwq
It comes from a true Dutch door where you can open the top or bottom of a door separately. In the journal world, a page that is cut out in any way is colloquially called a Dutch door where- whether it is horizontal or vertical.
This is gorgeous, but I’m sorry, we can’t be friends! How is it even possible to throw away those beautiful scrap sticker pieces? I would surely have found away to use them! Maybe create a bookmark that would fit and match nicely in the back of your book? Maybe do a serendipity page that you continue to plaster your future scraps onto to use as a layer for a new project? Idk, but how? Lol I do think you created a masterpiece tho!
Hahahaha! I honestly have way too many stickers to try and use every scrap. I do try to use up as many scraps as possible and you'll see that in other videos. This one just had a few more scraps than normal. ;)

Wow pretty Dutch door layout ❤
Thanks!
I love B6 notebooks - this is beautiful these stickers have that folk art feeling that might also go with the latest Archer and Olive quarterly sub box. I would use those pieces in a planning spread😂

That turned out so cute! I’m going to have to get a book so I can try to make a Dutch door. Can I use a disc bound ?
Yes, you can! And thank you!!
So adorable! What topics do you journal about in the small spaces?
I write about the overarching things that happened that day that I want to remember in the little boxes or spaces. Like if it was a birthday, or we went to a show, or my toddler reached a new milestone, etc.
Beautifully done! Can you tell me what your cutter is called please?
Thanks! The cutting tool is called a gyro cut: amzn.to/3BAWGn4

This size must be perfekt for groseries shopping. Gift liste and simalar things.
That would be a perfect use for this size!
WOW
These are cute, love the stickers. But this set up is more of a waterfall than a dutch door.
I agree. It's really cute though
You have to practice with how much pressure you put down. Too much pressure will cut through both.
Really love how you fid the last page ..this is super cool 😊what size is the cutting mat your using?
Thank you! The cutting mat is a Cricut joy sized cutting mat. I got this off-brand one at the Dollar Tree.
Absolutely beautiful. How will you use that notebook?
Here you go! glnk.io/oqrpq/amyplansthings70t
@ Thank you very much! Just what I needed. ♥️😉😀
Bonjour mais est ce que les stickers ne se décollent pas dans le temps si on ne rajoute pas colle etc ? 😅
No, these stickers don’t come off over time. 😘❤️
What is that utensil you used I have never seen one I them.
It’s a gyro cut. I love it! amzn.to/3BAWGn4
❤❤❤ btw do you have a link for that gold helping hand?
It’s from Journalsay! It’ll be one of the first items if you search “hand”. Code AMYPLANSTHINGS will save you $! www.journalsay.com/?ref=sgclvgwq
What cutting tool are you using?
It’s a gyro cut. There’s a learning curve but it is my FAVORITE thing! amzn.to/3BAWGn4
Where did you get the hand clip?
The hand clip is from Journalsay! Code AMYPLANSTHINGS will save you if you choose to shop. Search hand on their site and it's like the 3rd or 4th option. :)
www.journalsay.com/?ref=sgclvgwq
I’m Dutch….. wondering where these come from this Dutch doors……
This one just had a few more scraps than normal. ;)
