My sincere condolences to his sons, all who loved and knew Mr. Marsalis, and his students. Few have fostered and encouraged musical and artistic excellence with such impact. May he Rest In Peace.
@@@rodmact6548... I prefer the original version to yours, it´s a lot funnier. You squashed the joke with your "correction" . Furthermore, I very much doubt that hy agan was confused...he / she simply has an eagle eye for spotting humour in unexpected places.
Thanks for honoring this great man and musician. All jazz lovers and musicians have a debt to his work to spread the passion of jazz. We are all sad today.
Back a few years (decades??) ago, Hononegah High School in Rockton, Illinois opened a new performing arts center. The first act to perform there was Ellis Marsalis and Branford Marsalis. It was the best musical performance I have ever seen in my life and one I think back to often. I am glad to have had the opportunity to hear the two play. It is a memory I will hold on to for a long time. Thank you both for being there and for the music you allow us, the audience, to share with you that night. Ellis may no longer be with us, but his music from that evening is still playing in my ears and my head. Thank you.
A TRUE Genius!! R.I.P., brother!! You made an indelible impression on the American art form and you will forever be remembered!! God bless your soul!!!💕💯
My condolences to the Marsalis family. My prayers go out to you. Thank you for the endless inspiration and education you have given our nation. We are very blessed.
Heartfelt condolences to the Marsallis family. Ellis has influenced my love and appreciation for jazz for thirty years. He was not only a great musician but a kind Southern gentleman. He will be sorely missed.
I discovered Ellis Marsalis as a teenager through Branford and Wynton's music. I'd grown up on rock music, but discovered Jazz which made me much more serious about studying and practicing. Thank you Ellis and all the Marsalis family for inspiring young musicians to explore the beauty of Jazz music...
Thank you for making this world a better (and swingin') place Mr. Marsalis. May you forever rest in peace 🎼🎶❤️ Sincerest condolences to the entire Marsalis family.
Rest in peace Ellis. I came across you in the late 90s through my best friend when he played Joe Cool's Blues. I have listened to that recording over and over again and I hope you continue to leep Peppermint Patty happy.

@@hyagan9008 LOL??? If Fox's comment confused you, he meant "...to his sons, AND to all OTHERS who loved and knew....".

Godfather Marsalis is the Carl Sagan of Jazz; if we subtract this one person America is a very different place. Mood: Indigo.
I love that comparison. I'll be sure to screenshot your name so that I give proper credit when I use it.
