Love you did this song by an artist who is in a genre all of her own. This is so beautiful and emotional.
Try Running Up That Hill next please
I have no idea who Maxwell is but this is the original
I reacted to that song already here is the link ruclips.net/video/1mbfZT2Df78/видео.html
@@THEJAYYSHOW have you heard The Fog by her? It is one of the best songs ever
Maxwell did it first and won a Grammy for it!
@@kennethsmith6367 he did not do it first
@@kennethsmith6367
No he didn’t Ken. Kate wrote, played instruments, produced and sang the whole thing. Way before Maxwell
Kate's fantastic original version pre-dates Maxwell's by 9 years ...there is no comparison!
12 years to be exact. Kate's was released in 89 and Maxwell's was released in 01.
@@dalee72 even better! 😃
TRUTH!
It's a master piece
13 years, kate released this in 1988, maxwell 2001
You must listen to Wuthering Heights by Kate Bush. You must.
Ohh yay. Wondered when you’d do this… Jeez ..Kidding 💜 but thanks for the reaction JAYY
Have you heard Kate's song 'The Kick Inside' yet? It's wonderful. Takes an artist like her to write lyrics that are themselves a suicide note from a woman who's pregnant by her brother...
You should take a look at Cloudbusting by Kate I love that song 👍
It was originally released in 1988. Shes having a baby the movie.
Just incredible.
David Gilmor (Pink Floyd) discovered her and supported her from the very beginning
What’s your age? It’s very joyful to see younger generations discovering her music. There is a video on RUclips with Big Boi explaining his love for Kate Bush. Kate Bush is your favorite singer’s, favorite singer.
Maxwell has said over & over its a KATE BUSH cover song / check her other stuff it gets deeper
I do wish people would stop comparing Maxwell's to Kate's
I listened to Maxwell's version.and found it to be OK at best.
Kate's is on another level
Pure Quality right there Jayy.
Good review. Kate is a goof friend of mine
Movie director John Hughes (who was directing "She's Having A Baby" with Kevin Bacon) called Kate and asked her if she would compose a song for the hospital scene when Bacon's wife and baby were in serious trouble in the delivery room. Kate agreed and wrote and recorded this song in a very short time time period. She composed it from the father's viewpoint. Kate is an absolute genius.
Possibly one of the best uses of a song in a movie ever.
Great movie and perfect song for that scene. I cry everytime I watch it
Agree with all the comments...that movie is memorable for three things, the ending credits with all the stars suggesting names, Alec Baldwin is freaking awesome in a kinda throwaway movie, and the scene with this song. It really does bring you to tears...
To those late to Kate Bush.........only 40 years late but welcome.........boy you are in for a treat
It was also featured in a devastating scene in The Handmaid's Tale
Everyone thinks that this was Maxwells! NO Kate Bush is the original. Like when people would audition on the shows like X Factor and they would get ready to sing but never cited the original artist.
There is a clip of a Britain's Got Talent contestant singing This Woman's Work and introducing as "by Maxwell", I'd never heard of Maxwell so was a bit WTF ruclips.net/video/kpeaYFmMCik/видео.html
Not everyone ... never eared of Maxwell before such a reaction
Kate Bush is a genius, she writes the songs plays the music, does the choreography the whole lot, one of a kind.
She’s an absolute goddess. I love her music and voice so much. Her voice gives me goosebumps and can summon tears. I agree she’s amazing ❤️
I've loved her music since l first heard Wuthering Heights all those years ago.
@@keithjones6023 me too ! So different and unique 😊
I have been a KT fan since I was 13... and I turn 56 this year! She is, and always will be unique - a poet in every song, beautiful in thought and face. There will never be another. 💜💜
Who's Maxwell ... never heard of them ... Kate Bush is the original and the best woman artist of the last 50 years
Kate Bush is an otherworldly persona with a unique voice and personality. She's worth a dive down the rabbit hole. Thanksj
I never heard of Maxwell until the video popped up in my RUclips feed when I was listening to Kate. I listened to Maxwell's version. It was good. But Kate's original is on another level....it's haunting, beautiful layers to it, it stirs the soul, it stays with you long after you hear it, and she sings with the voice out of this world. She's my all-time favourite musical artist.
Same here. It’s impressed that he didn’t transpose it down, pretty tough for a guy to sing that high. It suits a female voice much better imho. Kate’s version is obviously superior, but then again I’m extremely biased. I’ve had a crush for Kate since I was sixteen, and I was sixteen a long, long time ago.
Kate's version does something to me. Moves me in a way that I can't really explain. That said I think Maxwell is a fantastic artist and did a great cover. He's also singing live and it still sounds amazing.
Joanne why do u look like a cat 😺🤣
Maxwell mentioned that Kate Bush wrote and performed this song first in his "Unplugged" concert, but many people clearly missed that fact. As a long time Kate Bush fan since 1980, when this song played in the film "She's Having A Baby" I was floored. People should watch that film for the full context and impact of this.
Kate Bush is one of the best singer songwriters of all time. She was discovered by David Gilmour of Pink Floyd. Her worst song is ten times better than anybody currently recording.
Love me some Kate Bush but this comment is pretty rough. There is actually ALOT of good music being put out. In fact, from a mainstream perspective, last 10 years have been the strongest since the first half of the 90s
I agree 100%. Brilliance personified.
Definitely better than all these manufactured singers who can't write for toffee
@@codynorden2203 I agree with oakhill found's comment 100%. There has been some great music out currently, but you have to hunt for it, and frankly none of it is on the same level as Kate's genius. The majority of today's music is pablum for the masses.
@@codynorden2203 sad we have to be stuck in ages when theres been so much beauty produced between soundcloud and youtube artists who never get seen
Anything by Kate Bush is unique , original and plain brilliant 1💥👍
She did do Rocket man
But in her own unique way...the woman is a beautiful goddess
@@Fitgirlkate She's got a whole album of covers titled "Others Words"
"running up that hill" is another good one. To be honest, everything she's done, is monumentally superb. ❤️
Thats the song that made me a kate bush fan !!!
true
Priceless reaction! This song was written for a movie "She's having a baby" Maxwell sang great too but Kate's version always gives me chills, I know this song for years, Placebo covered her song also Running Up That Hill, they twisted very good too.❤️✌🏻
The video conveys the storyline of the movie where Kevin Bacon is getting his pregnant girl to the hospital to deliver their baby and there are complications where she may die. That's why the video is showing a man in the waiting room and a nurse going up to him giving him news of what's happening with the baby and the mother. The line "This woman's work" is referring to giving birth. "I know you have a little life in you yet" refers to the baby.
@@Scary__fun Well the little life can also be just that as in a little life force or energy, the will to live, to survive because the mother's life, as well as the baby's, was in jeopardy, a vulnerable situation where she and the baby could both die.
This played at such a tough part of the movie...i was crying.
IMO She is the greatest female British singer. Her range of music is just out of this world. An amazing woman.
Yeah Yes Kate wrote this song along with many other beautiful songs.......Kate Bush is Legendary. A true artist!!!!
Every British kid growing up the 80's + grew up on her. She was my idol
@staceywalker7300 She also had hits here in Australia. "Wuthering Heights" #1.
She was a hidden gem to many in Canada until Running up the Hill hit the radio stations.
She’s a genius. That’s all I have to say.
Saw Kate Bush, clicked "like"; so underrated by the mainstream. But those who know, know. Such a great song.
She creates at a higher level than 99.9% of artists could ever reach.
David Mercury I'd say she is untouchable ❤️✌️
YES ! I LOVVVVE Maxwell's version, BUT Kate is the one that gives me the emotional. Her voice makes me want to cry and I don't know why.
only a woman can sing this song. And only Kate can have wrote it... An Artist with a big A for sure.
"Cloudbusting" is my favorite song by her. She has a beautiful voice. Great reaction
I love so many of her wonderful songs, but Cloudbusting has always been my favourite too.
Utah Saints!
If you want to know how much a genius Kate is, try 'The Man with the Child in his Eyes' which she wrote when she was merely 14 (some say younger)...and Maxwell's cover was phenomenal, it truly was, covering Kates work is no mean feat, and he excelled...but the original, is still a level above that brilliant cover.
This is Kate's song for sure. Maxwell did a beautiful cover.
It's a great tribute to Kate Bush💚✌
Maxwells is not comparable
Lolalilolilly If My wife and baby's lives were in peril, I sure the hell wouldn't be singing with cheesy, gospel style R&B inflections. The meaning of the song is totally lost on him.

@@warrenbridges1891 well said
Kate’s the women !! British women
Don't feel weird about so much of the music you know being based on older hits. That was big part of the basis of modern DJing at the start, and that heavily influenced Hip Hop and Rap. It started with DJ's doing cool overlap/mashups of hits, and then the bits and pieces got smaller and smaller, and the songs more and more obscure, and the new connecting pieces got longer and longer. And around the time that whole movement was half way developed would be roughly around the time you would have really started listening to popular music.
Absolutely beautiful voice.
Kate stole my heart 48 Years ago...
Man With a Child in His Eyes sealed the deal... Running Up That Hill, Cloud Bursting, Whuthring Heights
Love her....
48? Really? Must be some years in a parallel universe... 43 or 44 years would fit (assuming, your posting was from 2021), unless you were working for EMI or so!
Love your reaction but it's 'Cloudbusting' and 'Wuthering Heights', sir!
Kate is on a different planet when it comes to artistic expression
She's on a whole other level than anyone else. Listen to her song cloudbusting.
Kate not only wrote, arranged, and recorded the song, but she was the director and cinematographer for the video. In the middle of it, there is an incredible scene in which she is sitting at dinner wth Tim McInerny and she collapses, he carries her to a car, moves around to the wheel, gets out to follow her gurney into the hospital --- and it is ONE UNCUT scene! The technical demands of performing and capturing that on camera are just incredible!
Wow. Didn’t know about her directing and cinematographing the video?
@@softshallow7435 He didn't mention that Kate produced all of the albums from the age of 22 and over.
This makes me tear up every time.
Me too I hardly ever never being a 48 year old man but this one has me weeping like a baby 😀
Me too. My eyes always swim.
I've loved this song ever since seeing She's Having a Baby. I still get weepy watching the video clip from the film. I highly recommend that film and this version.

The way she sings is heart-breakingly beautiful at times and ethereal at others - just beautiful
You’re totally right how Kate Bush about sings from a man’s point of view- she does that in a lot of her songs.
Kate Bush is a genious, and she wrote this song...never heard of this Maxwell.. !!!!!
genius
I recall once drinking a cup of "Maxwell House" coffee....
She’s a genius
I know kate for so long but who the hell is Maxwell?🤣
I’m amazed that this song didn’t make it over the pond. Kate is an British icon, as mad as a box of frogs, a truly unique artist. We’ve known since the late 70’s how good she is, and now the rest of the world is catching up.
Kate is unique , I am so glad that you enjoyed our Kate 💕
It's yet another Kate moment that should be in MOMA. The longer she stays away, the more the legend grows...
Our Kate is hands down the GOAT. She wrote over 100 songs by the time she was about 15 I think. She’s from another world. Gorgeous and a legend.
Kate Bush KILT this tune. It's eerie, sad, romantic, hauntingly deep... & yes, memorable. Maxwell's version of this song is mad haunting as well.
Another masterpiece from Kate Bush the original always the best
Kate's voice is everything.
Finally Kate is finally getting the recognition here in the US that she had in England! Now that Running up that hill hit # one !
Personally I love, MOMENTS OF PLEASURE.
LOVE YOUR CHANNEL 😍
Yes! Her greatest ever song, in my view. (And that's saying something!)
Maxwell's cover (official video) of this song was my first introduction. Then I heard his incredible, emotional unplugged MTV performance of this where he gave props to Kate Bush. That's what led me to discover her and I'm glad I did. I love both artists.
Never heard of Maxwell. He’s clearly a non-entity. However, Kate Bush is a musical genius.
Cmon bruh... Maxwell is undoubtedly good but the.song clearly belongs to her.
@@traykunable I have also never heard of Maxwell. Is he maybe known only in US? I'm from Europe, and I have a pretty much vast musical knowledge.

Kate's, The Man With the Child in His Eyes is worth a listen
Kate Bush is a genius. A dream came true when I saw her on her Before The Dawn tour in 2014 💜
Me too, Lyn. Greatest concert of my life, and it won't be bettered. She is a true genius, and Before The Dawn is pretty much the greatest artistic event I've attended.
@@TheoZoffrok I just really hope she decides to release the dvd. There was so much to take in, just spectacular 💜
Do you remember when the tree came down through the piano? It still amazes me!
America discovers Kate Bush. It took them long enough.
Kate Bush is a one off.
Love your reaction, when you sit motionless at the end, we know its a good one!
Keep doing what you're doing!
Never heard of Maxwell. This is Kate Bush
Terrible to know you have been listening to an imposter all these years ... lol
Who the Eff is 'Maxwell'?
Kate Bush's original song goes SO MUCH DEEPER than Maxwell's cover. Yes, Maxwell have a great voice...but IMHO, he TOTALLY misses the real emotional essence of Kate's song...as well as the story behind it. Maxwell focuses on the voice, while Kate focuses on emoting the message and story of the song. I tell you...the message is MUCH MORE POWERFUL than Maxwell's vocal gymnastics. Don't get me wrong, Maxwell is a great singer/artist. But sometimes it's not about the voice. It's about telling the story.
Quien es ese maxwells? 🤔🤔
It's amazing that you got the point of view of the song correct. Kate was asked to write a song for the scene in a movie called She's Having A Baby where the father was told his wife is having complications with her giving birth and that she may be having a breach birth where the child's feet are coming out first. He is waiting in the hospital's waiting room when this song plays and we see all of the happy times that they had together and he is feeling uncertain and stressed and a sense of remorse for being immature. The song is from his point of view. Great reaction!
Nobody will ever come close to Kate bush totally ❤️
To Maxwell’s credit, early in his career when he had burst onto the scene, Kate Bush was one of the artists he was quite vehement in giving props to whenever he was asked in interviews about his musical influences.
The scene from the film this music was written for always has me in floods of tears. The helplessness of him not being able to help his wife when her labour goes wrong and him reflecting back on his life with her. The song elevates the scene so well.
Especially since they fought so much and seemed unhappy a lot, then when he might lose her we finally see the good times they had and why they loved each other. A good reminder to everyone to appreciate the people you love.
Another beautiful song from Kate.
Who TF is maxwell?
This is Kates song Maxwell covered it Kate Bush is a musical genius.
This is a rare occasion when the original and the cover both get an A+
It's original
Welcome to the original and the wonderful Kate Bush
Welcome to the amazing world of Kate Bush's haunting and beautiful music. I'd never heard of a Maxwell version of this so I'll have to check it out.
Who the fuck is Maxwell.!!!
There's a reason why " most wuthering day ever" is a worldwide celebration annually... .
A tribute to Kate where people dress as her and choreograph dances en masse.
Fun fact : 3 artists w impeccable music taste & talent were/ are big fans of Kate.
Tupac , Big Boi & Prince
(& of course , Maxwell)
She's legendary.
Love Prince with Kate doing Why Should I Love You?
@@spiderbass65 yes!
SECOND! I adore Kate Bush. Hey Jayy!
This was covered by Maxwell about 8yrs after this fantastic tune was released. Watch Maxwell sing this live(which is an excellent cover) he pay homage to Kate Bush by saying "she is the bomb."
I fell hopelessly head over heels the first time I heard "wuthering heights".
Yeah Kate Bush wrote the song for that movie she's having a baby
The Man with the Child in His Eyes is one of her first and best songs. She wrote it when she was only 15.
Wrote at 13 and recorded at 15.
Thank you, thank you for doing more KB! She was and still is wayyyy before her time, and multi- talented. She has a huge following from the biggest names in show biz. You haven't even scratched the surface of her music. Wait until you hear her more macabre style of songs like Waking the Witch, Under Ice. Her song Running Up that Hill, should be your next song from her, followed by Hounds of Love, and Cloudbusting.
Way better than Maxwell
Give 'the man with the child in his eyes' a go and then look up how old she was when she wrote it... The most extraordinary talent
In my last comment I got it wrong the actor donald sutherland is actually in the video "Cloudbusting" which is absolutely fantastic.
Written by the unique Kate Bush....a supreme talent.
Kate Bush doesn't cover ... she an Original Genius
Jean Lawley She does actually. Usually on B-sides, such as Donovan's "Lord Of Reedy River" on the flip side of "Sat In Your Lap". She has a whole album of covers called "Others Words". I have it as part of a 4 album remastered series.
Maxwell did a great cover because he stayed true to Kate's original version. But Kate's is so haunting, it just can't be bettered. But Kate is the ultimate artist, beautiful, creative, and ever original.
It's amazing watching your reaction to a song who you thought belonged to Maxwell, (you're right, he did a dang good cover), and then the look of shock writ across your face when you realise that you were now listening to the original. Kate Bush is in a league of her own, an extraordinary singer/song writer.
Your reactions as always are beautiful, and continue to make me smile.
Thank you 👍👏👏👏
After all those years i am still thrilled by the precision of her voice. All the little things she did. Subtle variations. So elegant. She's a wonder.
I really don't understand how anyone could even think of covering this perfect Kate Bush song... How on earth could you ever match her singing, piano, emotions and dynamics? Sorry Maxwell...
Though Maxwell's version is alright, I'll forever pick Kate Bush's version.
Maxwell's version of this song is amazing. Honestly, I'm not sure which I like better, his or Kate's original version. They're both emotionally impactful. Maxwell's is more soulful, but Kate's is more vulnerable. They're both worth listening to... :)
"Watching You Without Me" and "All the Love", please?
Who's Maxwell???
Maxwell made a pale imitation of this wonderful original.
My favorite song on planet earth to this day .
The ORIGINAL and BEST version of this song ....
I was upset about Maxwell's version as a little girl lol .
Tank sampled this as well . It's called " Let it show " . Wonderful rendition of the song . 1000 times better than Maxwell's .
You should watch " She's having a baby " ( Kevin Bacon , Elizabeth McGovern ) . This song was on the soundtrack to the movie . Phenomenal movie ...
Great Reaction ❤
