Still, at least something meaningful and that had actual "consequences" was happening unlike previous games
It was more interesting, but they still followed like the exact same plot as the last two times. They even had their own personal trope of people attacking you after they've "died" come back. Like the whole point of those bits in other games was that you're hallucinating. It seems strange to do so many similar things if that's not where you're going with it this time?

Subvert expectations, characters believed to be dead only to come back later, supernatural element that may or may not just be a psychological thing, mental illness, the ability to kill a main character as another main character, silly death later in the game because you failed to do a QTE or made the wrong choice in the beginning of the game.

The cut the rope choice can result in Eric's death, plus it affects what Rachel thinks of you. I understand why it seems like the game railroads choices, but they do have impact.

when bullets just refuse to fire straight out of the barrel (is it just me or did the bullets fire diagonally from where they were aiming like the guns in a bullet hell game when it's the equivalent of an AOE attack through out that entire sequence 20:40 worst guns ever)

5:20 I'll at least give Man of Medan a slight pass since everyone was huffing fear gas throughout the game. So, the whole "ghosts were actually hallucinations from drugs" isn't that bad. Little Hope's "it was all a dream" copout was fucking stupid. If it didn't come right after MoM, then it probably wouldn't have been as bad.

From an arabic speaker, The arabic language is good, it wasnt translated, the only problem is theyre speaking an egyptian dialect not an iraqi dialect

Until Dawn really was a fluke, wasn't it?
Until Dawn was a much longer game with actors who made the experience much better. They had Rami Malek, who was a character that had such a tragic ordeal to go through and he performed very well.
Also, Until Dawn being a longer game helped to establish the characters a lot better. Despite the cheesy dialogue (which is reminiscent of older slasher films), the later half of the story became a lot more tense and actually got Adum invested in the game.

There are news papers in the game that are very clearly french and then translated word by word into czech, because they have nonsensical syntax
Same with the Indonesian in the original Uncharted.
For a game that focuses on telling a story solely through characters, the voice acting, character animations, and script are shockingly awful.
I was gonna say. It felt like the voice mixing was just so awful for most of the characters. With the exception of the racist army guy, everyone sounded like they were literally phoning it in.

I actually liked this game and the characters.
Salim in the best timeline supports his son and was a badass vampire killer.
Maybe I'm being overly-optimistic here, but I always justified the characters' behaviour in Until Dawn because ... they're immature, asshole teenagers, and I liked that if you picked the "good" choices it made the whole story into something of a redemption arc by having them all go through hell and grow to genuinely care about each other (especially Emily, who despite starting out as one of the meanest is the one who uncovers a ton of the mystery and does end up genuinely caring for Matt if you get a good ending). And Mike wasn't cheating on Emily with Jess, they were just exes. When you have ADULT characters going around acting like teenagers and cheating and having a love triangle like it's a soap opera, all my potential care for whether they live or not goes down the toilet. None of these characters are likeable, except for maybe Salim from what I saw here. What the hell happened to the writing after Until Dawn? I'm gonna assume it's different people, because it can't be the same person.

Until Dawn was actually written out of house! Its written by two horror screenwriters who are fantastic :) One of them actually has his own independent film company where you can submit short horror screenplays (Im working on one now) and get a potential cut.
I'd love to work for Supermassive games as I have loads of cool horror concepts that are in the similar ish vein to UD and not the Anthology pictures.
salim is great because his only conflict is "i am fighting a war that i dont want. i want to go home to my son. in order to go home i have to work with the people who call me the enemy" and none of the interpersonal drama shit

@@MaxEllSibSwe While I didn't love Until Dawn like a lot of people (lotta cringe in that game if you go back to it again), it's kind of amazing how far the quality dropped when they released Man of MaCHUNGUS. Literally every aspect got worse and now they just seem to be repeating that.
The worst thing definitely has to be the "hey, *SUPER IMPORTANT* choices that aren't actually choices" thing though. I fucking hate that in games. Lying to your audience about plot importance/relevance and giving them a fake option to change it is just bad game design in general.
I love that Adum & Pals are deliberately trying to play as poorly as possible. That genuinely makes this tripe more bearable. Can't wait for the next installment in the Dork pictures Anthology.

It's crazy to think that Until Dawn was pretty competent in what it was trying to do. But so far every release these guys have done afterwards just feels confusing. And why are we still doing this "episodic games" thing. I thought Telltales initial death would have been a sign as to why that was a trend that should probably end
I kinda think developers don't really know what made Until Dawn successful. Despite Until Dawn being a enjoyable ride, it still had similar problems that Dark pictures anthologies had (especially the ending being not that different for each route), but the characters and story were fun despite of cliches. Also it had some nice set-up for later deaths and few surprises. I think developers just thought "let's copy Until Dawn but without what made it good" and we got...this.
Until Dawn had more time and effort put into it. It wasn't an annual Halloween cashgrab like its succesors.
@@gogleiztrash7034 The lack of time and effort really shows in the casting as well. Personally Dark Pictures anthologies series reusing the same actor(or face model) for different characters really bothers me as the series goes on. It's almost Dhar Mann level to me.
They had Sony money for Until Dawn. Dark Pictures they reuse models. The Clarice woman was in Little Hope as well and the black american was from Man of Medan (the nerd brother)

I don't mind if a game is reusing assets if they have a tiny budget, but I have to wonder if Dark Pictures has next to no budget when they make these episodic mini-games. Man of Medan *looked* pretty good to me, all things considered. Little Hope looked pretty good, too. I have no clue what was up with House of Ashes, because I remember the reveal that Ashley Tisdale was in it *looked* good to me as well. As far as I'm aware, these games sell. So who is pocketing the money?

The grenade in 20:00 is actually somewhat realistic, the explosive charge in a grenade is very small and doesn’t not cause a lot of damage what is dangerous is the fragmentation the grenade throws, this wouldn’t hurt a wall too badly

these games are much more fun to play online with a friend because two story lines are happening at the same time, instead of just passing the controller around. and i think thats how they were meant to be played. ps. jason is best boii

In little hope, the twist really was that it was all in your head and I don’t remember there really being proper foreshadowing for it. Man of Medan isn’t really like that though, you can figure out quite early on that the gas is causing hallucinations if you pay even a bit of attention, and figuring out that information will be genuinely helpful to the player and help you keep people alive. Plus, you really did get kidnapped by pirates and have to fight them, and you really were on the ship, so it wasn’t really ‘all in your head’
I like that this company was like: "well we did make a David cage / dontnod horror game, that was mildly successful. Let's make 5 of these now."
i love playing these on my own and seeing how far from the expected this channel provides and how it basically breaks the game by gambling with important characters that branch off later.
This is a game to play alone- to play it with multuple people incresaes behavior against the creators intention- part of it is their obvios poor planning and part is how adum plays games
if you wanna play the dark picture games after watching adumplayz i recommend you will have a better time- bc you cant mess up as bad as they do try and its a good combo 9/10

Its difficult there are some characters that can die in like thirty ways and some (mostly the memorable celebrities) that have plot immunity

I will say that they are overly hostile to the game at times. Like of course the very first decision you make won’t have serious consequences. It’s the tutorial. It’d be pretty shitty if you accidentally messed up the first QTE because you hadn’t been given a chance to learn them and a character just instantly died. Also, they sometimes act like a choice only has consequences if it makes someone die. Like, if you’re a massive asshole to everyone around you IRL, they probably won’t just straight up kill you, but if you need help later on they might choose not to. That doesn’t mean that being an asshole to them was a ‘fake choice’.
Yeah his ideology when it comes to these games are "if this choice doesn't kill me, it doesn't matter". Even tho he should know by now that these games are built around a domino effect where most of the choices LEAD to death, not INSTANT death.
