Definitely, the way we Caribbeans make our porridge. Lovely and Delicious. Made my own version this morning for breakfast. I love porridge, morning, noon, or night.
This had a great memory! Thank you. I am making it again tonight for tomorrow's breakfast. I added some more spices and I substituted 1/2 cup of condensed milk with 2% milk. Tasted delicious. Thank you.
Yes bigger cup definitely, and honestly I love my made the same way..I love putting peanut butter in mine give it a try I out off this world but sometimes not always 😋
Nice never thought of making it this way, so I just left all and sweeten what I wanted to eat at the moment so I won't have to make from scratch everytime. Would like to see how you do corn porridge
I make porridge for my baby daily only no evaporated or condensed milk but whole goat milk/formula and add in some wheat germ and cocoa powder, cinnamon and grated nutmeg. Oats are so nutrient dense and the wheat germ packs in extra protein and beats the heck out of that rubbish cereal they sell in boxes for kids. Good food to keep things “moving”, best without the added sugars though.
I know how you feel about de sugar in d condensed milk. These days oat milk is my milk ..I cook same way with nutmeg & all spices then I blend in chrystalised ginger for sugar to my taste. 🤪👌🏽
Meh Tobago woman Arlene bai❤️ ........Ah love it...GOOD TING. Missing my granny (Mama) loads with this one. ah few raisins and we badddd keep it up and keep cooking guys
Just use the evaporated milk alone. Evaporated milk & condensed milk is the same thing, milk that's had about 60% of it's water removed. Condensed milk is just sweetened, so skip the condensed milk & just use evaporated milk & add in whichever artificial sweetener you usually use to the evaporated milk or just sweeten when it's close to finishing to suit your taste.
Arlene looks nice as always but Kezzianne, you look like you lost some weight which I find surprising for someone who likes to eat and it's right after Christmas. You look GOOD GIRL!
Alright ladies that's our grandmother's porridge. Let's bring it to a new generation and leave a legacy of health consciousness. Lose the condensed milk!!!!
So it have trini oatmeal, guyaneese oatmeal, Jamaican oatmeal just say freaking oatmeal it's not tied to no particular island the entire Caribbean all cook alike. This is becoming so annoying now is either authentic Jamaican this, trini this, bajan this when the entire Caribbean Islands cook similar why can't you guys say Caribbean dishes too much segregations among the Islands.

Yes, granny used to make that for me. She used the Quaker Oats brand...the best brand. I also drank it in an enamel cup too. I miss her 😭
Just the way I make mines, I like to drink not too thick and chew some of the oats and I blend some for a smoother finish for the kids. They love it.

My mom soak the oat in warm water first then add it to the pot to decrease the cooking time. That cup too small though.
