Yeah they needed to change technology on the Ford's Because the Sprint car world didn't like the canted valve train the Ford's had that was considered factory.

I wish Ford well but running one has always been a hard sale going clean back to the Stan Shoff / Bob Fetter days. Casey Luna won a title but he sure threw a lotta bullets at his car to get it. I remember Shaver building a Ford engine for Casey to compete for the Knoxville Nationals, I forget which year. Shaver told Casey, "This motor will last 75 laps, don't ask for 76."
Yeah i heard some time ago some ford guys complaining that WoO made that canted valve ford illegal or something .. Wedge V8’S ONLY IF IM NOT MISTAKEN? I love Chevrolets and always will because its so easy to build power without breaking the bank…!! I found a sprint car block and rebuilt it for a street car and it dynode at 675 hp on pump gas … and that 434 weighs in 350 lbs … whats to hate…! I remember my dad was on Ford powered sprint pavement car in the mid 1960’s and sometimes he would come into the stands and point out how fast and awesome some of the Chevrolets were but we couldn’t talk about it around the owner …! Ford guys can brag about some drag race stuff so I will brag about Chevrolet powered sprint cars… But they dunt get it..!!! 🏁🏁🇺🇸😎
So you mentioned Shaffer’s win at PPMS, but i think something people are missing is the crew chief that is turning the wrenches on the 49x. I watch Shaf closely anyways but i think it is gonna be something to watch especially in the heat of the summer! Tim still has it but adding that piece to the puzzle could be dangerous.
It is unbelievable how long it takes to get a new sprint car motor type up to speed from a reliability standpoint. I hope both Ford and Toyota can come through though. It may help bring costs down in the long run. Congratulations on 30k! You deserve all the good that happens! Great show!
Cylinder head rules, Cup motors can run canted valves like the old Cleveland head. Sprint car rules to ban the Mopar Hemi by association banned the Cleveland. Thus the huge development from Ford, Durham, and Shaver on a Windsor based 410.

I know him he is very nice Guy. His Son John Cressman raced 360 and 410 Fords.
Competition is great for anything, but the Ford 410 has been a long time coming and caused mass frustration...

Engine programs like this are R&D teams don’t always want to be part of a program like this as you are testing parts or engines that may fail.

why not just use the NASCAR cup engines in the sprint cars as they run 500/600 miles with no problems, the builders say they can make a 1000 HP
