Day[9] talks about songs that just start good, but then take a nose dive. Stream: www.justin.tv/d... Archives: day9tv.blip.tv Twitter: day9tv RUclips: / day9tv
The funny thing is that I never thought that trumpets were out of place. They fit quite nicely. But he has a strong opinion and he gets the point across. And this is so brilliant I love it.
You know I never get tired of this bit. The timing is so perfect !!! I remember watching it live and every once in a while the subject of trumpets comes up and I have to go find this again!
And then you know what happened? WUBB WUBB BVBVBV DEEE DOOO BVBV BV BVBVBVBV WUBB BVBV DEE DOO [insert random quote from a crappy TV show or low budget horror movie here]
I hapenned to manage to forget of Day9's existence and this masterpiece. Re-Discovering the meme you used to love is something I haven't experienced before. It's just perfect.
One of the reasons why i love Day9 so much is the fact that he is a giant nerd and a dork. but hes not afraid to show it to thousands of people!! hes not shy or timmid hes right up there shouting and being silly and makes people laugh. This guys epenis is huge and rightly so lol.
Omfg I remember watching this at the office for the first time...Dead silence in the office then......BUHHHAAAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAH!!!! Was so much funnier because I was in a place I wasn't supposed to be laughing in.
The change in tone. This was very mild, and cozy. Trumpets suddenly make it, how can I say this, goofier. Not so much bad or worse, but the mood of the piece changes suddenly.
ShiroiKage009 I really didn't feel the change. Maybe because I am a trumpet, but I feel that Day9 missed the point in his "mood". It was nice and cozy, not really seductive or "mood" music. Though I will agree, maybe trumpets weren't the best choice, maybe cornets would've been better. But regardless I felt the trumpets added another layer to the already nice song. Something metallic in contrast to the guitar and claps.
ShiroiKage009 I disagree. if you listen to the bass, guitar, and drum phrasing, its already moving with fairly high energy. The trumpet fits the genre and song perfectly.
The best part is that i remember that the lesson he was teaching was to not add things into your build that you don't need. If I were to take a guess i think the dude built a roach warren while going for some other play like mutas or something, built like 4 roaches, and never made another roach in the whole game.
dear day9, i was watching this video while holding my 6 month old nephew he was smiling, giggling and drooling all over himself..... until the trumpets came in... i've never heard such crying in my life.....
@KevinCarbonara It depends on your conception of the song. If you thought of it as easy listening background music, then the trumpets add flavor. He clearly thought of it as a song for a romantic backdrop, and he's right that the trumpets do kind of mess with that mood.
I have tried to write this comment for so long but can't stop replaying and laughing. The guys timing is great. Pro comedians wish to be this funny but this guy obviously has a natural talent for this.
@mjm55 "In music, a song is a composition for voice or voices, performed by singing. A song may be accompanied by musical instruments, or it may be unaccompanied, as in the case of a cappella songs. The lyrics (words) of songs are typically of a poetic, rhyming nature, though they may be religious verses or free prose."
There is a Derp (+Derpina) comic that illustrates this "monologue" and has a still from the vid. I saw it once and now I can't find it! Does anyone have a link?
its been 12 years and this is still great!
Hell yes it is.
It's been 6 years and this still makes me laugh :P
lol I know! That's amazing! I miss that Day 9
@@abhiseenundun9475 Haven't followed him in years. Has he changed?
The funny thing is that I never thought that trumpets were out of place. They fit quite nicely. But he has a strong opinion and he gets the point across. And this is so brilliant I love it.
It's been 9 years and this still makes me laugh.
@@troubletcat Damn, I was a teenager when this came out. lol
The timing on that joke was perfect.
You can tell he's practiced it vs an easy computer a few times.
Squidstario it’s easier that way. Then you can float 10,000 minerals and still win 😂
He had to have timed this out perfectly and planned what he was going to say in order to have the song line up with the story. Fcking impressive!
The thing is... he probably didn't "plan" anything. And that's talent right there :)
Yeah this came right in the middle of a StarCraft strategy discussion as an aside
It's already 10 years from this golden piece of the internet and it still makes me cry in laugh lol
I Remember seeing this live, can't believe it has been 4 years since then. long live Day[9]
Not only that, but this was on justin.tv and not twitch. So much has happened in such a short time.
Omg I feel like a fossil now
I can't believe this comment was four years ago. :\
@@907CoolBoy I can't believe this comment was three years ago. :\\
I absolutely love that the beginning of the song is Sean's idea of sexy music. Don't you ever change!
This was 10 years ago. Holy sh..., how time flies.
The comedic timing is godly
Timing is the mark of every great Starcraft player lol
I watched this live forever ago, I still chuckle now.
Whenever I'm having a bad day I come back to that clip. Thanks for making my teenage years awesome Day J!
I found the best part is his dramatic build at 'and then you know what happens all the sudden?' I lol so hard every time.
You know I never get tired of this bit. The timing is so perfect !!! I remember watching it live and every once in a while the subject of trumpets comes up and I have to go find this again!
From time to time I have to come back and watch this. I saw the original video back in the days and cried of laughter.
and a thousand GIFs were born that day xD
This has to be my fav video of Sean. AND THE TRUMPETS
I kind of expected a dubstep drop to happen.
Anyone come to watch this after the Rhykker reference in his video today?
Summer 2020: still no clue where the trumpets came from
I literally just got played this song on hold with expedia. TRUMPETS!
This song just randomly popped into my head again, years later, and I had to look up this video. Still just as hilarious as the first time. Hahaha.
The comedy peaked at this very moment, November 3rd of 2010. And this crowning achievement shall never be surpassed by humankind.
I was in the middle of my physics lab and just started laughing because I randomly remembered this video. My lab partner thought i was on coke
Holy shit, the look on his face as soon as he starts dancing. I cannot stop myself from laughing every time I watch it.
I miss watching the dailies, 11 years ago I started. Time flies. I miss the good laughs, now my life is shit
The early 2010s were the golden age for RUclips Content imo, professional enough to be amazing but not tainted by the ads and shit
I found the trumpet song in the wild today, and almost lost it in the middle of a restaurant.
No universe is worth living in without this video! xDDDDDD
I haven't lost it that hard in years. Such perfect timing lol
Basically how I feel about most every Dubstep song I've ever heard.
And then you know what happened? WUBB WUBB BVBVBV DEEE DOOO BVBV BV BVBVBVBV WUBB BVBV DEE DOO [insert random quote from a crappy TV show or low budget horror movie here]
I just remembered this today. So happy I did, it's still great.
This the quality content I miss from Day9.
I hapenned to manage to forget of Day9's existence and this masterpiece.
Re-Discovering the meme you used to love is something I haven't experienced before.
It's just perfect.
His comedic timing throughout the whole piece is impeccable.
Its been 11 years and this still makes me laugh :P
watchin your magic stream right now, always thinking of this masterpiece of thoughtful gaming strategy, comedy, and silly fun
THIS IS LEGENDARY
what's wrong with trumpets :-/
Austin Mitchell He's saying that the trumpets don't fit with how the song was going. In a nutshell, the song went from 0-100 real quick
I'm Not a Rapper I completely disagree, but whatever
Austin Mitchell Well it's not me that said it. So...
I'm Not a Rapper I know...
+I'm Not a Rapper actually 100 to shit when trumpets came in an shat on everything he was thinking

Randomly on my timeline, miss these times when sc2 was so big, esp when Day9 played amensia omg
Omfg I remember watching this at the office for the first time...Dead silence in the office then......BUHHHAAAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAH!!!! Was so much funnier because I was in a place I wasn't supposed to be laughing in.
i love how he is chair dancing and being happy when the thrumpets start :D
The song is called Isla Del Sol, for anyone wondering!!
It doesnt matter what mood im in when i see this, im instantly in a great mood afterwards!
To this day this is one of my favorite youtube videos.
Its his facial expression and dancing that make this amazing
Its impossible to believe he didnt rehearse this. The timing's so perfect.
What's wrong with trumpets? T___T

Happy anniversary, guys.
Hands down to this day still the best video ever... i love it

Day9 version of Numa Numa guy :P
I watched this video for the first time about a month ago. Now my every day starts with it and then I listen to the full song for about 30 mins.
11 yr and still great
My routine:
- feel bad
- come here and watch this video
- feel less bad
Thank you Day9
Rhykker brought me here . Thank you
2022 and this still makes me laugh, good old times
Checkin in. 2022. Still a classic.
Dude..... this video.... its like
.. day 9 was yoshi and mario needed him.
listen to this every day
Song is Ottmar Liebert - Isla Del Soul
The song's still pretty good even after the trumpets
coming up on a decade since this happened...still makes me laugh like an idiot
This is the single best video on youtube ever. Day[9], don't ever change. I fucking love you, you're amazing.
this song came out at a party last night, life = COMPLETE.
Hahahahaha! This guy is hilarious xD
1:02 Loooooololol. "That's right ladies and gentlemen, trumpets!"
I can't believe how well he timed that pause, and then... "trumpets!" at the perfect moment. He had to have rehearsed that.
I dunno, I kinda like it. Maybe not for the scene that YOU pointed out, but I imagined like, a coastal town myself, and it totally worked for that.
the timing is incredible
I dont think so. He has done so many dailies and these things just pops out of his mind when he is on stream. He is just a fantastic personality
Just thought about this moment in 2022 and I had to make a comment.
"stop reading this" lolol
Still funny 12 years later xD
Happy b-day day9!
One of the greatest Day 9 moments ever that I've witnessed at the early days of SC2 :D
trumpets were awesome day9, but I bow to your awesomeness
Name of the song:
Ottmar Liebert - Isla del Sol
@KevinCarbonara It depends on your conception of the song. If you thought of it as easy listening background music, then the trumpets add flavor. He clearly thought of it as a song for a romantic backdrop, and he's right that the trumpets do kind of mess with that mood.

There, so you all stop asking.
I just want to note how he perfectly timed the story for the trumpets to come in. Like, perfectly. Freaky
The timing is just unbelievable.
oh god this never fails to make me laugh. brilliant timing.
The timing, oh my the timing!
LOL. This happened all the time in band camp.
He did. He also checked for camera angles.
I still laugh my ass off when I see his face expression before says "TRUMPETS!"
This dude describes pretty much every folk-metal song.
And Suddently TRUMPETS! Thousands of them!!
He's a pro Starcraft player, he's got a natural sense of timing. Watch his standup video also.
Paul Simon's "Fifty Ways to Leave Your Lover" comes to mind.
This brings a lot of good memories.
I have tried to write this comment for so long but can't stop replaying and laughing.
The guys timing is great. Pro comedians wish to be this funny but this guy obviously has a natural talent for this.
Day9 has got to be the coolest guy on the internet.
its soo epic when hes like, "awwhhh, oh my god he really cares, doesn't he?" XDD
I want a full dance video, he was doing a pretty good job!
Now the intro music to the official Day9 monobattles custom game map.
This is a spoken word masterpiece.
im crying!
Whenever I get sad, I watch this
The song is Isla Del Sol by Ottmar Liebert :D
@mjm55 "In music, a song is a composition for voice or voices, performed by singing. A song may be accompanied by musical instruments, or it may be unaccompanied, as in the case of a cappella songs. The guy who wrote that needs to watch day9 daily number 319.
