Found this beautiful model kit for $44 USD locally today-I usually gravitate towards kit designs I am familiar with (have seen anime or played games with) but this is my first "design caught my eye" model I have. It still is theoretically possible that this could have existed in my favorite Gundam universe, so it is fine. Definitely looks better than the Delta Plus, IMHO. Will enjoy building it when I get the chance. :) Thanks for the years old review!
I might pick this one up just because of the gold coating. This kit could very well be made premium bandai unlike the Cathedral that has the plastic gold color on it which does not scream premium in any way possible.
On one hand, I really like the design of the Delta Gundam, both in MS and Waverider modes. It might even be one of my favorite Waveriders. On the other hand, I really do not like Golden Gundams, especially super shiny chrome gold. I dislike yellow/gold as a main color. Its just so gaudy. That being said the finish they used for Hyaku Shiki looks kinda nice. But I digress, did they ever release a non-shiny version of the Delta? I don't care if its a really ugly yellow as my plan is to paint it. I'd rather not spend the extra money for a chromed finish that I'm just going to sand down and paint over anyway.
+KaiRellim509 Just be warned when buying a Hyaku Shiki however, the one I used in the comparison is the Gryphios War set triple pack version. The single release uses the same shiny coating as the Delta and the Hyper Mega Launcher pack has no coating and instead has a very unpleasant dark yellow color. The Delta only comes in a shiny format so far. The closest ones are the Delta Kai and Delta Plus =/
+Kakarot197 My bad, I didn't specify. MG Hyaku Shiki 2.0's finish looks nice, despite my general dislike of golden ms. Its unfortunate that the Delta only comes in gold chrome. I do like the Delta Kai and Delta plus, though I think the Kai's high mega launcher shield is a bit over the top. I'd honestly probably keep the Kai in wave rider form, which isn't something I normally do. Maybe I'll end up getting the Delta Plus. I'll have to watch some reviews on it.
+Kakarot197 phenex is probably shinier when coated right, and in hg form or destroy mode in the mg, the shiny gold and blue psychoframe proly make it stand out more.
The delta gundam was the original concept for the hyaku shiki, but it was before they perfected the transformable frame, so they removed the waverider mode from it, suped it up, and dubbed it the hyaku shiki.
That looks pretty sick. Feels like a mix of Hyaku Shiki and Zeta. I'm disappointed with the beam saber holding hands. But I always feel kinda sick because EVERY reviewer on these type of kits use their bare hands getting prints all over it. It just bugs me...otherwise, the review is pretty good. Anyone know a good way to protect that coating from chipping or rubbing off?
@@fenn8636 1. I have assembled both (in fact I used Daban v-fin part to fix my broken Bandai one),I can assure that the box & stuffs inside that I bought was Bandai. 2. Bandai runners has logo & Bandai name in it, Daban does not. 3. Box was on sale during Christmas. lots of old kits were real cheap during that tine.

Hi, I've been a gundam fan for sometime now and I plan to start getting into gunpla soon (I'm waiting for my local comic con) I was hoping you would be able to recommend some beginner friendly models for me. I'm mostly a UC guy, but I also like Gundam Wing and Unicorn

Well thats a bit tricky for me, I mean I cant really think of any suits I DON'T like (aside from the guntank) If I really had to pick favourites though, I guess I could narrow it down to the original rx-78-2, All of the Zakus, and the Wing and Alex gundams. +chocobros1 The old HGUC and the new HGUC RX-78-2 are both really nice kits(just don't get the G30). As for the Zakus, the Zaku I model kits are fantastic. They're cheap, easy to put together but still have very good articulation and some nice accessories. You can't go wrong with the High Mobility Types or the F2s either. The HGAW Wing Gundam is also a cool kit. Just make sure you're getting the HGAW and not the old NG =P The Unicorn Destroy kits might be a bit more of a challenge than the others, but you should be okay. The manuals are always very clear about what to do, even if you don't speak a word Japanese.

Even though the Delta Gundam Kai is my favorite version of the Delta suits, this also caught my attention.

I'd say that a kit that has a similar place in a collection would be the metallic coating version of the HGUC Nu Gundam.

Topcoat? Oh apparently it ruins the finish. So uh... Put it in a glass case and never touch it
