    Saw RIngo’s seventh all star band in 2001 with Roger Hodgson from Supertramp and Mark Rivera (Billy Joel’s sax player and music director for 35 plus years)., and one of the ELP guys (can’t remember). Great show

    Sounds like an awesome show to go see. Love the varied musicians and styles of music - like the greatest live mix tape. And “Overkill” is still in my top 10 80s songs after all these years.

    Went Friday. Loved the show (and the whole concept of the show). Ringo sounded great and was bouncing around the stage like someone 30 years younger than him. (He was literally doing jumping jacks at one point). Loved getting to hear Toto/Men At Work's hits live without having to sit through the other hour of their catalog :) And the Venetian is always a great venue.
    Did you end up getting to see Vanilla Ice on Friday? Still wish I had done Ringo on Saturday so I could have gone to that 90's gig on Friday. Instead I saw Matchbox 20 at the Cosmo- and a) I realized that I'm just not a huge Matchbox 20 fan beyond their couple of 90's hits and b) the Chelsea sucks when configured for seated shows vs GA
    Also caught Billy Strings at Brooklyn Bowl this week (phenomenal) and Jeff Dunham at whatever they are calling the Zappos Theater this year (much better than I was expecting- did not realize he works as blue as he does) and Pat Warburton's (Joe from Family Guy) book reading/impressionist act at Kimmel's (very unique and quite good)

    I saw Ringo and his All Starr Band play around 2019 (I think) before "Covid mania". Great show. The keyboardist from Santana was with them then and he was also the singer in Santana's band. Edgar wasn't with them then. Lukather (excellent guitarist) was there as well as the Men At Work dude. It was a great show and not ripoff ticket prices. What freaks me out is they played at an Indian Casino that's located ten miles from my house! Couldn't believe a Beatle in my neighborhood. I bought tickets early for his show that'll play this Friday at the same venue. Love it! My wish is to see Joe Walsh play with him again (Ringo's Bro-In Law). Maybe some day but I'm really looking forward to Friday's show. Ringo is such an genuinely nice guy and IMHO, he's blossomed with his vocals with his band. As you mentioned, his band members are literally "All Stars" in that they have made major music accomplishments on their own with other bands and are in Ringo's band.

    I would describe Ringo’s songs as whimsical songs rather than children’s songs - just a thought. Great review. Ringo is always amazing.

    I went to the Wednesday show and agree it was an awesome concert. All of the musicians played great; I didn't hear a single mistake. Ringo was terrific. He has amazing energy for someone 82 years old. You could tell he was having a blast. The sound quality in the Venetian theater is always very good, I thought they could have turned up the bass level a little more. He has added some shows to the tour. If you get a chance, go see this show. I promise you won't be disappointed.

    Now, I saw Ringo during his Europe tour in 2011, and it was excellent. I would be completely happy if Ringo did 2 hours of his own stuff, but I love the All Starr format. Ringo's thing is that he just loves to play with other musicians, and he loves to play their songs. With his Beatle status, he could easily commandeer the entire show, but by having the other guys play their music too, there are no egos in the show. He's not there to exploit his Beatle fame, he's just there to have a good time and play some great songs. Speaking as a musician who was inspired by Ringo more than anyone else, just wanting to play the music is all that matters, that's all we want to do, and Ringo does it all so well.

      If he wasn't there to exploit his Beatles fame, the show should just be called The Allstar Band

    I saw them last night in San Fran, same members, same setlist, and i completely agree with everything you said. Each member brought their own unique talents & personality to each song, which was great. Two hours of guys just hanging out and having fun playing songs everyone knows. Ringo gas been critized that his drumming is so off and wrong, FYI : there are drums for right-handed drummers and reverse drums sets for left-handed drummers. Ringo is a "Lefty" playing on a right-handed drum set As a kid that's all he could afford, so he continued that way.

    • @Gondarth
      @Gondarth Год назад +2

      Most of the people who criticise his drumming skills don't know what the role of a drummer is. You talk to any professional drummer or percussionist, and they'll speak praises for Ringo.

    Loved this. People in the US would be well reminded that Joe Biden is younger than Paul, Ringo and Bob Dylan, who are all still touring the world!

    • @MrPeterburns
      @MrPeterburns Год назад

      What is your point? Biden is younger so he's OK? In that case, lets vote for Ted Nugent he's 6 years younger than JB and he's a rock star! Does that logic work for you? People of the US can think for themselves, and hopefully, far more logically than yourself

    Great show. I saw it recently and was blown away at how young and energetic 83 year old Ringo is, and they have a good selection of the hits of the other 'all stars'.
    The draw here is definitely Ringo, as Joe said, because he's a living Beatle doing Beatles songs; that's an amazing thing to be able to see in 2023. And unlike Paul, Ringo's show is very reasonably priced; you can get great seats for under $200 and 'bad seats' for around $50, which is insanely reasonably priced to see a Beatle accompanied by other icons live (for comparison, people pay thousands to se Motely Crue ffs).

    I'm pretty sure Paul and John wrote the songs for Ringo to sing. It was a thing they had where they would write a song for him to sing on each album.

    • @Gondarth
      @Gondarth Год назад

      Yeah, if Ringo wasn't doing a cover by Buck Owens, The Shirelles or Carl Perkins, John and Paul wrote one song for him per album until Ringo wrote Don't Pass Me By, at which point he was on his own.

    Good review but you are associating the songs Ringo sang with his Beatle image. Yellow Submarine and Octopus Garden were really the only kid's songs he did. I missed him with Jack Bruce on bass on one of his first tours, pissed me right off, forgot why I couldn't go. He was a great drummer too in his prime. Ringo will be 83 in July 7.

    Last year was the 4th time I've see Ringo and his all-starr band, all here in Vegas (2013, 2015, 2017 and 2023). He had the same line up of all-starrs the last times I saw him and I loved the change this time. And it was a great show. I did bring my pocket recorder to that show as well and have the full audio from the 5/24/2023 show. Such a great show. Thanks for the review!

    Saw this same lineup of Ringo and his All Starr Band in Bend, OR, 6/3/23. We sat 2nd row center and had SO MUCH FUN! Every song was well known, performed flawlessly, and was easy to sing along to. Ringo has amazing energy and the All Starrs are so talented! To those of you who think Ringo is a joke-I hope I have even part of his energy and enthusiasm when I am 83 years old!
    Have you heard Jon Bon Jovi sing live recently? We won’t be going to see him when he is 83! 😂

    I think music got better after the Beatles. The 60’s went from idolizing the Beatle mania to getting back to the music. Led Zeppelin, Black Sabbath, The Who, Jimi Hendrix. The last few Beatles albums were made with a lot of fillers just to sell records. Watching Get Back really showed where the Beatles were at. Goofballs just coming up with silly lyrics to throw an album together. But deep in those later albums, there were some jewels.
