    My outer burr appeared to be stuck, so thanks for "don't be afraid to add a little bit of force" at 2:09. I wonder why the UK Support could not have said that.

      Same. Were you able to get it free? I was pretty sure that was how it was done but I was not sure when it wasn’t coming out.

    • @bxf99999
      @bxf99999 3 года назад +3

      @@Michael-zn2jc Yes, I did. I grabbed the wire loop at each end, as close to the burr as possible, and turned much harder that I would have felt comfortable doing, but nothing broke, and the burr came loose. Also, before, and between attempts at turning, I tried to brush away any powder that may be present, hoping that the brush ends would slightly penetrate the space between the components and remove a bit of the debris. I had to persist, but it worked. Another thing I did (and I hope I'm making sense here) was to use a blunt edge screwdriver, hold it at an angle against the bottom of the wire, and tap the end of the screwdriver in the appropriate direction. It didn't seem to make the unit actually move, but I'd imagine it probably loosened things enough to help.
      Persistence is a key factor here. I had similar difficulty the second time I went through the process, but I managed again. I'd say that the way to prevent such hard sticking is to clean more often. That reminds me...

    You know for an expensive Espresso Machine, they could make it easier for you to take out the burr also make the metal bar a bit more comforting or easier so doesn't hurt your hands while taking it out. Might be too much to ask but I just thought for an expensive Machine you get what you pay for kind of thing.

    The challenge I have is with the blades underneath the burr, which have accumulated a coating of oil from daily use and now will not turn and is difficult to reach and to clean. Even with regular cleanings like the one shown here, this is a problem. I know there are tablets that can be used for cleanings, but they’re not very helpful if you haven’t used them regularly. (Or didn’t know to use them regularly…..)

    The problem I encountered was that I couldn’t get the outer burr back on. There are three grooves in the inside of the hopper, and the burr locks into those. Those grooves can get grounds in them, which can be gummy if you prefer dark roasts. I had to dig the ground out of those grooves, which wasn’t easy. I was hoping this video would talk about a way of cleaning those easily.

    This is good but when the machine plugs up which is likely with some of the more oily beans. You will need to do a deeper cleanse there’s a bolt you turn counterclockwise and then two washers a lock washer and a regular washer then you pull the grinder and there’s a delicate felt washer you need to be very careful with as they’re hard to fine if you break also there is a washer than could be removed here so don’t loose in the vac it vacuum again you may even have to run a pipe cleaner or somesuch object to remove the blockage I have never found it necessary to clean a Grindr unless it plugs up to get to this plug you have to go at least two steps further than this video shows it’s also a good idea to unplug the machine. Yep

      I had the same problem with my first Breville Smart Grinder Pro. (It is basically the same grinder - it is just a stand alone) My wire got damaged - but I found out that if you will back your grinder grinds to the coarsest setting it will open the gap between the burrs more and shoul allow the top burr to pop free. Frequent cleaning will prevent this from happening. I clean mine after 1 pound of coffee, but you could do it weekly.
