I think it depends a lot on each person’s point of view, because you can listen and interpret this song as a non-Christian song, I can listen to it and interpret it as a Christian song, Singing to God as if it were basically a prayer. When she sings "hold on to me", I think: who would hold on to her? So... I think she is saying this to God, but someone else may interpret it differently.

Thank you for this song. I am a human traffic survivor. I can tell you there is a God. He reached out to me and miraculously saved me from a captor in a foreign country. He made a way. I blindly followed him in the night and made it home safely with 3 children in tote. I praise God everyday for seeing me worthy. Thank you Jesus for being my only friend during that time.
