I’m wondering what Scott Ian used.during the recording of the SOD record. I’m guessing that Spreading the Disease, SOD, and Among the living all were recorded with the same gear.
Would you say this pedal is based on the JCM800 and has a lot of versatility for classic metal and hard rock, or is it something that is really just dialed in to get Scott’s specific tone….so it won’t stray too far from that sound?
They are pretty different. This one has a TC style clean boost on one side and a full on distortion channel on the other. The GH one is a frequency boost/overdrive in one.
@@killertone It makes sense that the SOD would be similar to the TC Boost. I think the TC was the secret to the SOD sound. I seem to remember hearing that the TC boost are hard to find now so it would be great to have a new alternative.
@@brpadington there’s a loads of alternatives out currently, the fortin grind/33 are tc intergrated pre’s with fixed eq’s, then ones that are more faithful to the original: fortin blade, pepers dirty tree, airis tight pre, protone preamp, lone wolf djerkoff, probably more I’m missing too. Bang for the buck look at the pepers dirty tree
@@timcoward7205 Thanks dude. I have been looking at the Grind after seeing Killertones video of what it sounded like with the Marshall Jubilee. I will have to give the pepers dirty tree a look too.
Say man. Did Scott (and other New York Metal guitarists) use the T.C. Electronics pedal? Me and Ben Burton used to talk about that. He was convinced it was T.C. boxes that Scott Ian used.
Just about every demo I have ever done has properly doubled guitar tracks. As in I doubled them as you would do when tracking a proper song. I would never use mono guitars in a full mix.
That is a profile that I made of my Rev F Triple Rectifier boosted by a Fortin Grind. I released a whole pack last year through Replicant Audio with a shitload of profiles.
That’s the SGT. D tone right there. As always great demo
SGT. D is comin and your pedalboards on his list
Nails Scott’s tone from the SOD days.
Killer video! Always great to hear you play a boosted JCM800
March of the S O D spot on tone!!
The pefect demo for the perfect pedal!
Woa.. that was fast😀, I just saw your Instagram feed yesterday
I don't mess around hahaha!
Sounds cool, great cover!
Sounds gnarly man! Badass as always brother!!🤘😆🤘

Beasty! Cheers, Jason! -Todd (Mobile Deathcamp) Ola said you kept the CD... haha
hand of doom was the first i learned how to play and march of the SOD was the second. pretty rad.
Ok so if I put this pedal on my rd 100 I should get this tone? One problem i got the rg 412 cab.
Mine is in the mail
OH HELL YES SON!!!!!
Sounds sick. I wonder if this is better than the Gary Holt one.

Damn man, perfect.

Yes sir he used a TC Booster/Line Driver back in the SOD and Anthrax Spreading the Disease/Among the Living days.
Daaaaaayyymmmmmmm ❤
My new dream pedal 😂
You got a doubler in that pedal train? Sure sounds like it.

Wicked tone as usual ! And with the boost through the JCM 800 it’s fairly similar to what Scott used in the studio too is it not ?
Thanks, man. Yup, should be pretty close. I think he used a TC Booster Line Driver and this acts more like a TC IP but it still gets you there.
@@killertone it sure does get you there 🤘
I’ve been hunting for even just a DSL 100 to try to get some of the tones I hear from you.
Killer tone!!!!!!!!!🤘🤘🤘
What year is that Gibson? Killer sound!!
1989 thanks!
Damn what was the rig for the tone in the intro???! Also very rad little demo!! 🤘🏻🤘🏻🤘🏻🤘🏻

So sticky sweet 🤘
🔪Sounds killer🗡 How do you like the pedal?
So far so good but my cigar doesn't light up :-(
Update! It dos light up you just have to use the distortion side to make it work. My bad!!
@@killertone Awesome. That would suck if it didn't work.
Nice!!!
Damn nice I wanted one but they were already sold out 😠
You can find some on eBay. Not sure if you’d get it though cause Sargent D probably killed the guy selling lol
@@sargentd6780 yea but they want a minimum of double the list price,
@@spazeack- that is true it really sucks how fast they went out
Dude im so fuckin jealous
You killertone brother
Sounds sweet, but kinda too fuzzy for me. Almost Morbid Angel fuzzy.
I have a Marshall JCM800 and you can dial in the Sgt. D sound without spending cash on this, senseless cash grab.
