  • Cold Jet's dry ice blast cleaning process uses dry ice, accelerated at supersonic speeds, on surfaces to blast undesirable material off the underlying substrate without damaging it. Cold Jet's Tyson Marlowe explains how their technology works, gives us a demonstration of two of their machines, and discusses a variety of applications - it was even used to clean barrels (for aging beer) at Dogfish Head Craft Brewery.

How do you get the dyice? Is there away to simply compress the CO2 in the air and produce the dyice in a continuous way?

Hi Euan, when you just start with your dry ice blasting business the recommendation is to purchase the dry ice from your local dry ice maker (Typically a big gas company). In order to make dry ice, you need a dry ice making machine (Pelletizer) and a liquid CO2 supplier (again that will be a big gas company) you can only justify the investment in setting up your own dry ice production facility when you reach dry ice consumption levels of at least a 1,000kg per week, otherwise, it won't be cost-effective for your business. If you are interested in more information or looking to set up your own dry ice blasting company let us know where are you located and one of our team members will be happy to assist you. Cheers.

Dry ice is frozen carbon dioxide (CO2), a greenhouse gas, and so this technique is not environmentally friendly. The fact that the ice turns back into gas immediately is the reason it shouldn't be used.
