great video! I have the same issue with mac air 2019, I didn’t have my data backed up. But I did manage to get all the data back through terminal commands in recovery window.
1:08 only thing is that security setting on T2 (so 2018 and onward) will not allow external boot unless you can log in as admin, then boot into recovery and change security settings
My touch bar has a failure and I can't install a required update, I already change the Touch bar in the past with apple, and broken again. I can't use my Macbook 15 2017, since this update. I'm from Brazil, any tips for me? thank you

How long does it take the Software Update Available?
The way I have backed up all my data before doing that, was entering recovery mode and from there did my back-up.

For me Catalina works but I tried to go straight to sonoma and got this issue, maybe do it in steps?

You can try utilities such as ccleaner to empty the trash
