Thanks for this video! I basically paused every minute and followed your video exactly, and I finished the mission in 25 in-game minutes! Instead of elite huskarls, I got champions, since purple’s only range unit is skirms and champions are cheaper and better against cataphracts and legionnaires. Still mixed some pikes and huskarls in my army though depending on whether it’s cav or towers that I’m facing. Overall very useful guide!

1. Masterpiece (if you're not laming) 2. Rome Was Destroyed in One Day 3. Truly Countless Bodies 4. Prominent Player 5. Barbaric Manners 6. Offense is the Best Defense 7. Roar like a Lion 8. No Wonder on my Watch The others are fairly subjective / easy. I, however, like the way both the campaigns/battles and achievements have a great synergy for learning valuable strategies. You're forced to: - learn micro'ing military, eco, conversion - learn about rushing, booming, turtling - learn to counter things both on land and on water Going through all the achievements and campaigns truly makes you at least an intermediate player, as it prepares you for a lot of pvp scenarios. Especially the historical battle achievements and the ones listed above make you try and try and try again until you're rushing and booming and countering like a madman. So I feel the almost insurmountable odds are perfectly balanced and have been properly tested, to make it hard on us.
@@Gunth0r Truly countless bodies is really not that difficult, you don't even have to worry about resource gathering just churn out knights from 4 stables and you can easily overrun your opponents, starting from top and working your way counter-clockwise, at most there's only one castle per enemy (total of 3) unlike this scenario's 12 castles. Prominent player and barbaric manners can be cheesed, check out guides on steam. Roar like a lion is not difficult at all, there's only one point of entry by land for the enemy and it's already walled off for you, with a single castle and some cavaliers to take out trebuchets and bombard cannons your base is impenetrable. Just build a navy to clear the sea, and then a land army to mop up whatever your cannon galleons can't reach.
Well I'm definitely going to try this on standard and with a LOT of pausing. We'll see how it goes. And btw, you got mad skills mate! That's some serious "Keeping up with everything" mind stuff you got going on, jesus christ!
This achievement successfully burnt me out of AOE 2. Probably for good. I got so irritated, 11 out of twelve castles, only needed an extra minute. Yellow did fucking nothing the entire time, they walked all the way to cyan to fight there.
Fun fact: in german the achievement "Rome Was Destroyed in One Day" it means the 5th (!!) mission. Destroy all castles in 30 minutes in the 5th mission. I did this and I get no achievement^^
As someone else mentioned, this achievement says "5th mission" in portuguese so I got a little confused, since all these castles in the 4th campaign are byzantines and they were next to impossible to complete, so I did it at 5th mission and got nothing so I had to check it out. Gonna try rushing to the left ally first instead of the right one (the right one is useless). I'm still far away from getting this achievement. You really have to have the will to do this. At least 20 times I was between 30-31 minutes. Disaster, I ended up being 29:58. (Nabijem onoga tko smisli ovu perverziju)
Got this one a few minutes ago, being the 169th I get (missing only Masterpiece). It's been quite the ride getting to this point, and I can only thank you and OrnLu for being the best source of info through it. Keep it up guys!
my time-29:30 i did it with cav archers for mobility. Thanks for showing the path to follow and get the castles in the back. Skipped destroying 3 gates, saved a lot of time. The 4th was destroyed by rome defenders themselves (lol) when ally took down a castle in middle and gate was partially mine. Cyan was doing noting, getting stuck.
Got it on medium difficulty. Definitely the toughest, timing is crucial + micro has to be on point so not to waste any sec on producing units and keeping trebs taking the castles down (also knowing when to send your allies into the city so that they help taking 1 or 2 castles for you). Funny enough, this was the top achievement to get for AOE 2 DE no longer than 5 days ago, it's now the 3rd less achieved achievement but for me it remains the all time hardest. Congrats on getting it on hard!
Here was everything I needed to make it. Great guide, but it was expected from You :) I still have two difficult achievements left - "Truly Countless Bodies" and "No Royal Hair Touched", the first attempts were unsuccessful.
Truly countless was quite difficult even on standard. Have a look at T west's upload on that one. Basically you will need to kill blue, Bizantines, first as they spam a number of castles. Because you are Huns use that to your advantage and build Knights with upgraded tech and rush blue up top. Sell all wood/stone and just use the 3 vils on the gold mine. The other 2 will fall easy as they only have horse archers and huskarls. Snipe enemy vils away from castle/TC and you should be golden

Instead of deleting the halbs i sent them to yellow as soon as the objective popped on the map. Yellow always destroyed either the castle near my base or the one close to him which meant I had to create one less castle to destroy their castle. Also creating units at your home base isnt is a waste of time all that is needed is trebs.
Thanks for the video! I have destroyed all Roman's castles in 30 minutes but achievement didn't unlocked. There's an incorrect translation in russian Steam's localization - this achievement is described like I need to destroy all Roman's castles in FIFTH mission of this campaign
Yeah, there seems to be a bug introduced by the anniversary "patch" where achievements aren't unlocking. Hopefully it gets fixed soon. And indeed, I've seen several comments about various localizations that incorrectly describe the scenario as the 5th instead of the 4th.
This achievment broke me - still don't have it. Insane micro challenge and 2 AIs microing against you to snipe trebs with mangonels and catas. Also unlike other factions goths do not have the option of using deathballs of cheap ranged units.
Wow, that was incredibly impressive. I'm not sure how long ~3 seconds is at 1.7x speed, but I could feel the adrenaline at the end. Was this the first recorded attempt? This looks like the second campaign achievement I'll resort to a lower difficulty on, though I doubt the difficulty makes that much of a difference on this one, lower game speed probably does a lot more for the timing.
Not bad, it seems we played it quite similar. However, I'd recomend going champs instead of huskarls, they are simply better and cheaper, against everything but archers, and there are just a few skirms with castle age upgrades. I've also seen this with xbows+trebs, like 0 eco and a huge army of xbows.
it's one of two achievements I am missing (the other is the Masterpiece one). but i just cant grt it done, should definitely have done it befire they introduced the roman civ even tge first small base that you cleared with the starting army takes out most of the army if you attack like this now, because the new legionaries with a centuron beat up huskarls pretty bad
Press F11 to bring up the in-game clock. The achievements are based on the in-game clock, which varies depending on the game speed (1.7x is the standard speed---"slow" speed is 1.0x and is the same as real time).
The new DLC made it harder now, they replaced the enemies with the Romans, the Scorpions shoot faster and with Ballistics, melt my all infantry army now, plus Centurions and Legionaries now.
Genuine question, is this achievement possible with the new Roman faction? I’ve been finding the legionaries incredibly tough now, especially with the centurion buffs
OMG this was so hard. I kind of feel like cheating, because I just copied your strategy, but it was still super hard. Annoying if you try to get this achievement by going through the middle for 10 tries :'D
I've yet to get this achievement, but why do you wait before activating your allies? They seem pretty competent at pushing in and creating space, and isn't it better to get them doing that sooner than later?
At first I tried rushing units to my allies right at the start to get them going. But over time I found it stronger to make sure my army pushes at the same time as theirs does. If I activate them too early, then I don't have enough forces to sustain momentum from their pushes. I also found a good deal of randomness in how effective they were. Sometimes they would take out 3 Castles, sometimes they would run their Trebs outside the city without doing much. If I push at the same time as them, they seemed to be a bit more consistent with using their armies intelligently.
@@T-West Thanks! I finally got this achievement, but only by pausing extremely often to assess the situation and issue commands; I don't have the APM to do this in real time haha

Standard difficulty should still unlock achievements; it shouldn't matter which difficulty you use. You can also press F11 to bring up the in game timer to check your time---that's what counts, and it runs faster than real time (normal is 1.7x). I haven't heard of this one being buggy, but that may be because it's one of the more difficult ones to complete in the first place :)

just did it with archers. legions have low arrows armor and aoe2 was always an archer game in pve. archers guard trebs good. rightest castle is free, from your new left second castle 1 treb for leftest castle 1 for left low from outside the wall. right trebs go next castle guard with starting forces, get more archers your left castle gets more trebs to deal with big island, somewhen 1 treb near your base to get lowest castle. left and left low are probably done join big island trebs go left side up for uppest castle. in the centre an army is ready, while waiting i just removed wonders cos pathfinding is terrible, went for coliseum castle killed everyone above, same time trebs got river castle left down from colliseum, more trebs to upper-right-right castle, then punch a hole in the pipes and get upper right castle, meantime your left castle gets some trebs to wipe the central walled castle. f3 is pause, save load works, delete gifted building you don't use for better pathfinding

@@T-West there is an achievement in AOE that says : Train 1,000 Condottieri as a non-Italian civilization. And guy asked you the same before i did. It doesn't have anything with achievements regarding 12 castles.
@@porodicamilojkovic7315 Oh the Condottiero is a team bonus. You just need an Italian ally and you can train them in Imp.
How many tries did this took you?
Around 6.
Anyone else had this achivement glitched? ive managed to beat it twice now in under 30 minuites (yes i timed it) and it still hasnt unlocked. Done it only on standard diffiulty not sure if it effects it or not
Standard difficulty should still unlock achievements; it shouldn't matter which difficulty you use. You can also press F11 to bring up the in game timer to check your time---that's what counts, and it runs faster than real time (normal is 1.7x). I haven't heard of this one being buggy, but that may be because it's one of the more difficult ones to complete in the first place :)
@@T-West cheers mate that 1.7 time game speed was catching me out i was using real time lol just managed to do it with 10 seconds spare that was probably one of the harderst achivements out of the lot
@@harleypearce8894 Nice! This achievement is definitely one of the hardest.
Hey guys, anyone know if a non english version player can get this achievement? In my version it still says mission 5... I think i can do it, but still the effort kinda not worth it if the achievement is STILL bugged in nonenglish versions... any experience is appreciated
Many translations have the wrong scenario listed, it's always the 4th for the achievement.
@@T-West okay but will I get the achievement if I finish the 4th campaign? Recently I also didn't get the achievement in the "help of my sisters" 100 Gbeto warriors...
@@RiceMonger888 you should, unless the achievement is broken
@@T-West maybe because I got the elite upgrade first so it doesnt count? Or maybe need 100 gbeto warrior at one time and not a total of 100 during the game?
@@RiceMonger888 Yeah, you need 100 all at once, I believe.
30 min is impossible for People, that has no skills, its not fair
I did it. One way to make it much easier is by pausing a lot to check your surroundings.
Sorry but did they change the Steam archievment? my award says: all roman castles in "a kingdom of our own" in under 30mins
What language are you using? I've heard there may be errors where the wrong scenario is listed in some translations. I just double checked my achievements list, and it's still the 4th "The Giant Falls" scenario.
This achievement is bugged ? I've win in 26 minutes. I prefere use heavy archer cavalry. I destroy all castle in 26 minutes but not achievement :'(
Are you using the in-game clock for timing (press F11 to bring it up, normal speed is 1.7x "real" time)?
@@T-West Yes thanks, it's my mistake
As of today it seems impossible, both of the friendly bots stay AFK :/
Not sure if it changed recently, but it wouldn't surprise me if there were some bugs.
@@T-West also the "hard" castle is super easy, then it's slump after that
but there's just no time at all
just did it with archers. legions have low arrows armor and aoe2 was always an archer game in pve. archers guard trebs good.
rightest castle is free, from your new left second castle 1 treb for leftest castle 1 for left low from outside the wall. right trebs go next castle guard with starting forces, get more archers
your left castle gets more trebs to deal with big island, somewhen 1 treb near your base to get lowest castle. left and left low are probably done join big island trebs go left side up for uppest castle. in the centre an army is ready, while waiting i just removed wonders cos pathfinding is terrible, went for coliseum castle killed everyone above, same time trebs got river castle left down from colliseum, more trebs to upper-right-right castle, then punch a hole in the pipes and get upper right castle, meantime your left castle gets some trebs to wipe the central walled castle.
f3 is pause, save load works, delete gifted building you don't use for better pathfinding
I thought that I was fast but my ime was 50 mins :(
11:25 I totally forgot that you have anarchy
Hardest achievment in game only achivment that i didnt complete achivment for campaighs i mean
Literally impossible for me.
i did it very sloppily
it means you can too
here's how i did it

This achievement took 6 hours of my life.
