Hmm. I dont know about that. Some of your artwork looks like a Basquiat rip off. Not unique at all.
I see some similarities or insp from many artist within an artwork but i do not think it resembles basquiat's style nearly enough to call it a rip off, only maybe inspired. can you at least give constructive criticism. plus unique is overrated, great artist are just the best thieves. also this is a portffolio to get intooo art school, you know the place to develop your sense of self as an artist.
@@saodoan It is constructive criticism. I know people, students of fine art academies, who never look like other artist. Everything they do is fresh and it’s like a new Michelin star dish that you’ve never seen. But the majority of painters are copycats and eventually go nowhere. Nowadays I see more art in cooking and fashion rather then painting. Because painters have become lost and lazy and people pleasers looking for the acceptance of the little crowd and the professors.
I thought the same when I reflected on my portfolio, regarding the Basquiat similarities. Though to Saodoans point i agree, it's not a rip-off but heavily inspired, either way, I don't like the portfolio at all. in fact, i think its quite a weak portfolio, but i still decided to put it out there especially to show people that you can do better than i did then. That being said, you can see that my work and style have progressed since the gap year, and who knows what will happen when I'm at uni.
