Yeah, her playing is so clean and relaxed. I kept checking to see if she would muff one of those repeating 6-note patterns on the ride. Nope.

Lol, she hits super hard, harder than most male drummers. Those sticks don't break themselves.
Being big doesn't equate to strength and this is a definite example of that. I agree with everything you said aside from that bit about hitting hard. She's wailing on those things she's just in control and sure she's not very big but look at her arms and I'm sure her back is absolutely shredded. Lean powerhouse with immaculate precision.
If you want to be really amazed, play this at .5 or .75 speed and see how tight she is, in the pocket, groove, everything. Insane.

You can tell when she nails something that she's been working on.. she gets a great big smile on her face when it goes just right.

Senri was one of the world's best drummers back when she was only 16... I've been playing and teaching for over 50 years and I do know what I am talking about.
She's a superhero in disguise. Tiny and cute, looks like she's going out for a picnic but throw her a drum set and watch the magic happen. Saving our mind and soul from all the clutter and stress, she brings happiness to those that listen.

I appreciate your comment...for me, it's not just how a drummer sounds, it's also the visual performance - the smile, the fluidity and gracefulness of their playing, etc...some drummers appear stiff to me, and this can detract from my enjoyment of watching them...
@@davidseres3030 Oh you guys gotta see Junna then. She's on RUclips so check her out the first chance you get. Best performing female drummer to ever exist. And she's all heart! Nothing fake about her emotion while playing.
@@nst.pierre9800 Hi, I checked out at least parts of several Junna vids...laying aside the point that I'm not a fan of heavy metal music, thus far her technical skills range seems limited to heavy metal drumming...can she play jazz or jazz fusion?...also, other female drummers I've seen - including Anika Nilles, Senri Kawaguchi, and Emanuelle Caplette - also seem to put heart into their drumming...blessings...
@@davidseres3030 As far as I know Junna sticks to metal. Though I'm sure should could play other styles. I absolutely agree the women you mentioned play with a lot of heart and are probably better technically speaking(Senri Kawaguchi for sure). My point was that Junna puts on a hell of a show while playing and that the energy she puts out is infectious. Another to check out is Akane Hirose from Band Maid. Shes incredible also while putting on a show. If you decide to check her out I recommend "freedom" live version. She has a solo in it.
@@nst.pierre9800 Thanks for the info...we both agree that Senri has better technical skills...I may admire the speed and creativity of some heavy metal drumming - but I have even greater admiration for jazz/jazz fusion drumming...
Love the way she uses the toms in the middle of the groove.

Why do people think metal drumming is the be-all end-all? Like, of course she can play metal: she can do this, which is much more difficult.
At this level, she can probably play anything and nail it.
@@rahrahamunrah1 Because metal, jazz and Latin are the most difficult of genres to play. You have absolutely no idea whether she can play metal or not. Modern deathmetal and progressive metal is an entirely different breed. Slow down lol

Not a cover, it's a song from her album Trick or Treat. The group/duo is KIYO*SEN. Unlike many Y/T drummers, she plays in groups, in live performances. The second song is Dave Brubeck's Blue Rondo a la Turk in 9/8 time signature.
Incredible technique, born from years of practice. Senri is utterly amazing to watch.
I was a bass player years ago, but have always loved drums. I actually think Senri is better/more interesting than most of my favourites. A team up with Hiromi...now that would be special!

Her internal meter is incredible, and if the 'lead' player goes off, she takes control and instantly drags everyone back, never missing a beat. She is truly 'driving the vibe'. Incredible.

Chops aside, Senri has some really nice musical ideas. Her fill coming out of the ride/hats breakdown was very pretty. Really like her ride cymbal patter at times too, very reserved. Xould have been more linear but she chose to accent only two notes. Really clever, pretty stuff

I'm serious when I say this girl could be as good as Buddy Rich if she continues her progression. Senri is outrageously talented, without doubt the best female drummer in the world and still in her 20's the potential to be one of the greatest dummers of all time male or female.
umm almost ever deathcore an even blackmetal drummer made old people music show they barely could play. its called progression. elvis presley was "the king" but a 2 year old these days can play circles around his guitar playing.
but if u wanna get deeper. there are 100s of clones of every human an we live in a fake world. so can any of them play without the computer making them?

This is super cool. By far the best work I’ve heard her play, and some of the top material I’ve heard on drumeo as far as my subjective enjoyment of drum playthroughs go. I have seen a couple videos of her playing and was honestly convinced she only solo’ed. I’m so excited to see she’s got groove chops and gospel time feel too. What an amazing player.

I dunno, I've been following her career for a few years now, via RUclips, and watching her progression, and hearing those little 'clicks' as she surpasses one famous drummer, then *click* a better one, then *click* a better one then *click*........ I don't think it's hyperbole to say that she's on track to perhaps becoming the Greatest Drummer Of All Time®, and at an incredibly young age. Just flawless.
