Hmm my Squier was set up alright when I got it but with lower end instruments the quality control is pretty bad. If you're getting a lot of fret buzz I would recommend adjust the neck and the bridge. Is fret buzz what you mean by clunky?
@@Anthonydmusic.21 A little bit of buzz is actually not a bad thing. If it comes through the amp pretty distinctly, then yes it's a problem, but if it just buzzes a bit acoustically it's usually fine.

My Bassist Chris yeepp, decent amount of buzz on the E, seems to be very low action
