The PicoMEM is a new ISA card in development to replace old Hard-disk, add memory to the PC and floppy disk emulation.
You will discover during this video that in fact, it can replace an XT-IDE and a Gotek floppy disk emulator because it's so much faster.

Thank you for this video. A good breakdown of all the features in the PicoMem. I really look forward to trying the card myself. Also the demo at the and is amazing. Not only skilled programming, but also very artistic.
I made the demo based on a popular video names "bad apple". It was very challenging to play this video on such a ressource limited computer. It's fully written in assembly language and optimized to the maximum. It requires 192kb of memory. Sound blaster code is also fully in assembly. Sound is 32khz mono.
What a wonderful piece of hardware and software!! it's unbelievable! The possibilities are almost unlimited, you can imagine to simulate about any peripherals with this thing. In my dreams a merge with the PICOGus would be amazing!
I don't think a single Pico PI can handle both PicoMem en PicoGus, but on the PicoMem side some progress were made: A beta version of NE2000 network is working doing more than 500kbps, USB mouse is now working too and can be used in // of serial mouse. On the sound side, I wait for the Tandy sound since the card cannot handle SB16.
Waiting anxious for it to be available!! So many Xts and 286 i ve got would benefit from such "swiss knive" card!!! great work!!
It begins to be available even if the firmware is still evolving. Now a lot more SD card work, none found to not work. And USB mouse / keyboard also work. Network is work in progress.

Yes, and it's very useful. I am waiting for the Adlib part and Tandy sound, then old PC will get even more upgrades in one card.

@@freddyvretrozone2849 nah, I‘m not on twitter anymore and am super rarely in the Discord. So I totally missed out on all the cool new features. I also check Vogons rarely at the moment. So yeah I would LOVE a PicoM to play around with. I have a spare Pico here.

@@RodrikStudio Parfais, avec du talent on sait faire des merveilles, avec peu de puissance, c'est cela qui est cool, ex Projec X Amiga, génial, en 92, le pc était plus puissant qu'un Amiga ex sb16 carte svga, ou vga, disque dur, et pourtant on y est pas arrivé, car le pc ne pouvait pas faire un scrolling de haut en bas et afficher plusieurs sprite en même temps, techniquement plus puissant on fesais moin bien avec plus de puissance, encore moin de jeux 2d, pas de turrican 2 sur pc ou rick dangerous équivalent à l'Amiga sur pc avec un 386 par ex, et pourtant le 1200 était un 286 donc moin puissant qu'un pc.
C'est vraiment en 1993 que je vois chez un Amiga un pc 486 dx 33 carte svga cd rom disque dur 500 mb, 8 mb de ram, il me montre Doom et rebel Assault la guerre des étoiles sur cdrom, la , c'est la claque, cela bouffe l'Amiga d'un coup, et pourtant se super pc, pas Hybris pas de jeux ou remake ou adaptation Amiga ou pareil dessus, il me montre Mortal Kombat,la claque, en 1994 j'achète un pc, ibm 486 dx 33 carte svga 8 mb de ram, disque dur 170 mb, cd rom, il avait le système média exploration cd avec dos 6.22 et windows 3.1, génial, pui je découvre que les jeux Amiga n'allaient plus dessus, je dis mince, donc fallait les 2 machines, à cet époque j'avais le pc, mais que le clavier du 500 sans écran, je le gardais car je ne savais pas qu'un jour, les émulateurs allaient arriver sur pc, au final grace à la communauté Amiga l'émulateur va remplacer la vrai machine, en mieux même.

Une démo comme ça c'est 100% en assembleur avec un maximum d'optimisations. Dur de faire plus je pense.
At timecode 23:55 you say that the PicoMem is missing functionality for systems with very low base memory. Could you please explain this?
At the time of recording, the card was not able to upgrade a 5150 with only 256kb base memory. It's probably fixed now. I know that SD card access has been rewritten and now support all SD cards and access them faster. Also USB keyboard and USB mouse are now working. It still misses HDD image creation, but this will come soon.

Since it runs on isa 8bit, can I assume up it’s good for any PC before 486? And running on 486 and above will actually be slower than using ata33?
Yes it will work on 486, but will bring less benefits. It's more interesting when put in a 8088/8086, 286 or 386.

Non, j'ai fais 2 vidéo et on peut facilement voir qu'elle ne sont pas identiques. Une AI aurait fait mieux que moi en Anglais en tournant après 22H. Je ne suis pas particulièrement content de mon Anglais la.

Ton anglais reste compréhensible et c'est l'essentiel...disons que pour l'api ça a un coût non négligeable aussi.

Merci, c'est pas tant pour la visibilité mais pour faire découvrir cette carte à plus de monde. Mais je ne referai sans doute pas, c'est titanesque de faire 2 vidéos en même temps tout en travaillant à coté.

Peut-être du coté des nouveaux outils IA de traduction / doublage mais pour de longues vidéos je ne pense pas que ce soit possible…
@@erebos007 J'ai déjà essayé il y a quelques mois, c'est tout au plus passable. J'ai entraîné l'IA avec ma voix. Il faut une AI pour récupérer la transcription, une pour traduire (j'utilise ces IA pour sous-titrer déjà), une pour parler le texte traduit avec ma voix.
