The Democrat's border security bill was not at all what it claimed to be. It gave the administration powers it already had, only activated after a certain number of illegal immigrants crossed the border. i.e. It actually did the opposite of what it claimed to do. It would have made it so that future administrations could not take actions they currently can. Instead, they'd have to wait until a certain number of illegal crossings occurred before doing so. But, I'll forgive you, ShortFatOtaku, for being taken in by the misinformation on that scam bill. Canadians tend to have a blind spot when it comes to American mainstream media's propaganda.

no, you're actually just wrong about the bill. every rightoid comment under this video is. it sounds like none of you actually read the bill and all of you just picked up viral twitter headlines. republicans insisted in late 2023 that biden's request for funding for ukraine and israel also come with a border bill. crying that the bill included those funds is just stupid, considering that it was quite literally the negotiation that republicans agreed to. considering trump's whole thing about the "art of the deal", you guys should probably figure out that cutting a deal means giving the people you're negotiating with, something that THEY want too. the "omg it funds ukraine!!!" complaint is just nonsense. moreover, the 5000 illegal immigrants thing is not a TARGET, it is a CAP, lol. additionally, i know you guys think that america has a 'catch and release' illegal immigrant policy, but the situation, as always, is vastly more complicated than that.
but at the end of the day - yes, the bill wasn't passed despite republicans negotiating hard to get what they wanted in it, because if it passed now, it would given biden an optics win. that's the actual truth. the republican author of the bill said as much during an interview, lmao. ya'll gotta stop being delusional

@@ShortFatOtaku Ok here's the Thing, how exactly would you have enfocred that cap. How would you have perfectly measured 5,000 people have crossed this massive cast border, most of which consists of emtpy uninhabited land in the middle of nowhere? Second even if you could perfectly measure that with information that was accurate up to the very minute, how would you quickly roll out a plan to get the border closed that would stop people coming in on this day?

    • @ApplesGhost
      @ApplesGhost 2 месяца назад +483

@@ShortFatOtaku Dev, I know you have a hard time understanding this, but 500 people a day as a cap, viewed another way, means they're willing to let in 499 people a day before doing anything.
Furthermore, this all operates on the honor system. The supreme court has no real enforcement arm. They can say "No, this is illegal" to a Democrat administration refusing to activate those provisions at 500 people a day, and that administration can and will just say "That's nice" and keep refusing to do it. There's a fundamental problem with the way the system works with regards to all of this; it's culture that's the problem. Republicans do not represent their constituents because their constituents want criminal prosecutions for criminals, and Republican politicians do not want to criminally prosecute their coworkers, so they simply don't. This lets both parties in the inner circle of those parties rule like autocrats.
Trust in institutions is already shredded to bits because of this. There is no restoring it in one grand sweeping move, and sweeping that under the rug, which is what you're doing by hyperfocusing on the wrong subject, is ridiculous. Without changing the culture of our government at a fundamental level, the corruption will persist.

@@ShortFatOtaku No, you're wrong. The fact that you're disingenuously believing that the 5000 number is ONLY meant to be a cap and won't be used like miniumum wage (i.e. they'll continually allow 5000 in per day) proves it. Republicans didn't "agree" to the bill since they voted against it. No shit cutting a deal means giving something to those you're negotiating with, but you only do that on subjects you're willing to compromise on. What you continually fail to understand is the blatent disregard for statutory rulings and standards displayed by the Democrats anyway. It isn't a negotiable point because we already know it will be ignored anyway.

My beef with him is that he sometimes has this overwhelming arrogant streak to him when he might not entirely grasp or understand the situation at hand, especially if the "Rightoids" do discover a problem with him. I could understand if he disagrees with them or if he at least asks for sources to their claims to either reaffirm his case or draw a different conclusion, but he immediately goes: I AM RIGHT AND FUCK EM RIGHTOIDS.
Examples, he still to this day gives a pass to Kraut for what he did against the alt-right, despite the fact he couldn't uphold his arguments after being debunked by an actual biologist, lied his way to save face and worked with a group of people who were "skeptics" that were against doxxing to jumpstart a doxxing campaign, while also forcing the cancel of an event that was going to be a conjob. This situation was a factor that made me stop watching most anti-SJW content for a long time and caused me to lean more Right Wing Populist post-2017.
Or how Fetterman was some grassroots reasonable guy despite the fact he had been a career politician and a factor people didn't want to vote for him was the fact he was mentally unwell (but it was either this guy or a TV Doctor who wasn't from PA himself) and actually enacted Left leaning policies in PA that weren't going to help them in the long run.

The reason the "far right" is currently advancing is a combination of two factors.
    1. Most western nations have spent the last two decades openly lying to their voting populace when it comes to the problems of mass immigration and what that can do to public safety and the national budget. People KNOW that all manner of violent and non-violent crimes have been on a sharp rise and have seen the police do nothing because they can't act due to how the laws and lawmakers are behaving and yet all of the traditional parties in those countries are treading the same "there is no war Ba Sing Se" line on the issue, pretending the issue not only doesn't exist but that anyone who suggests it does might just be a fan of Austrian painters.
    2. The parties in power have been calling anyone who opposes them extremist for so long that the name-calling has lost almost all of its power. People no longer care if the establishment calls a party extremist because they call ANYONE who doesn't play ball with them extremist and just about every citizen above the age of 12 has held some opinion or expressed some thought that would have gotten them labelled as such at some point in their lives.
They can look at themselves, see that they're not extremists despite fitting that category according to mainstream opinions and make the logical conclusion that maybe all those other people that got called extremists could be in the same boat.
The two combine so that people are voting for the one political party that acknowledged the very real and apparent problems while ignoring the labels MSM has given them. They lost credibility and are refusing to address problems so they're losing votes.

It genuinely doesn't matter what bill democrats come up with because what dev doesn't get is that nobody on the right implicitly trusts democrats like he does. They decided to ally with far-left racists and browbeat white people for decades. The most likely model of behavior for people like that when their alliance is driving away centrists is to lie to centrists. Dev chooses to believe the lie. If they won an election off of their border bill, they would simply turn around and ignore it, like Merrick Garland is currently ignoring a congressional subpoena.
There is literally nothing democrats can say or do at this point that the right would agree with. They could offer to set up a literal minefield immigrants would have to cross over to enter, and the right would believe democrats would instead give illegal immigrants free plane and boat rides into the US so they don't have to cross the normal way, and the truth is that they would probably be right about that.

      2. It would still let in 5000 per DAY, which would still amount to nearly 2 million per year. Before Biden, numbers were about 3x lower than that
      3. Biden already has all the legislation he needs in the first place. The law currently states: no illegal entries. So in all optics, the law was about OPENING the border (going from 0 allowed, albeit not enforced, to 5000 allowed). Which would actually make it more difficult for a future president to deal with the border.

When she passed through the park (parks have always been perfectly safe here) one of the new arrivals showed up to offer her some grapes. I studied German in college (in the USA) in the mid 2010s. Very interesting to see my left wing professors talk an out them as this fringe political group in the east and then watch them become more and accepted across the country.
I think there is this sort of self blame complex in many older German political institutions as a consequence of WW2. But now as time is passing more and more younger people are like “but I didn’t do that” and we are starting to see this manifesting in political ideologies besides the most bland form of progressive liberalism (in the true sense of that word not the American sense). This take could be based on my American perspective though… German and the USA have very different opinions on national pride, and while I would never say “I am proud of being born in the USA” as that’s a silly sentiment… the complete lack of any national pride was jarring when I lived in Germany for a little while.

    • @StummerVogel
      @StummerVogel 2 месяца назад

@@tainicon4639 Oh absolutely, you're 100% right. Concerning that incident I mentioned most parties were more concerned about denouncing xenophobia than talking about safety or prevention. I used to think that taking responsibility for our country's past and being ashamed of it was a good thing but the older I got the more I realized it's being taken to an unhealthy level.
As for national pride, it's still often seen as a dangerous thing. Like, "you know who else was proud of Germany, and what he did because of it?" The only time you ever see people display our flag's colors is for EU or world championships in soccer. And even then you're guaranteed to see articles pop up everywhere discussing if it's a right-wing dog whistle or something.
And I think that's exactly what's driving many voters into the arms of more conservative parties. Dictating that you have to feel ashamed of your country's past even though you had no hand in it is just stupid. Letting it influence every little thing you say or do almost a century later is stupid. People here need to stop being so obsessed with proving how anti-nationalist they are, as if showing even the smallest appreciation for their country would make them bad people.

    1) The Left has purity-spiralled itself to an absurd degree, leading to the "Normal People Are Right Wing" video. Non-political people look at things like "Working out is right wing!", think "I like to work out... maybe I am right wing?", they look at the platforms of the Right Wing and see mostly normal stuff, and end up supporting that Right Wing party.

This includes genocide and slavery - one cannot look at the actions of the Left and the Rhetoric of the Left and say that Genocide and Slavery are too extreme for them. Particularly after October 7 and there are many on the Left who genuinely do not know if they are okay with the genocide of Zionists, and also genuinely don't know what the difference is between a "Zionist" and a "Jew". As for Slavery, the Left is moving towards making Services "Rights" - so I have the "Right" to Free Health Care. But Health Care requires someone to care for me - so there has to be a person who is providing that service for me. What will the Left do if there aren't enough Doctors to give me access to my "Right" of Free Health Care? What will happen if a Doctor decides they don't want to be a Doctor anymore, but our system needs more doctors? Effectively, forcing the doctor into performing health care services against their wishes. ie: Slavery.
2a) And let's be real, the Left has already proven that they have no intention of protecting Children. From transgender infants to looking to lower the voting age to 16 (and lower) to the growing support for MAP's, the Left has abandoned that ship. If you want to protect children *in any way* (which is almost a literal statement), you're voting for a Right Wing party.
These two things scare people away from the Left. In our political system, the only place these people have to go for legitimate political power is the Right. That's why the Right Wing is winning today.
    Tomorrow...? Tomorrow may be different.

      Northern Conservatives in 1860:
“It may be inferred again that the present movement for women’s rights, will certainly prevail from the history of its only opponent, Northern conservatism. This is a party which never conserves anything. Its history has been that it demurs to each aggression of the progressive party, and aims to save its credit by a respectable amount of growling, but always acquiesces at last in the innovation. What was the resisted novelty of yesterday is to-day one of the accepted principles of conservatism; it is now conservative only in affecting to resist the next innovation, which will to-morrow be forced upon its timidity, and will be succeeded by some third revolution, to be denounced and then adopted in its turn. American conservatism is merely the shadow that follows Radicalism as it moves forward towards perdition. It remains behind it, but never retards it, and always advances near its leader. This pretended salt hath utterly lost its savor: wherewith shall it he salted? Its impotency is not hard, indeed, to explain. It is worthless because it is the conservatism of expediency only, and not of sturdy principle. It intends to risk nothing serious, for the sake of the truth, and has no idea of being guilty of the folly of martyrdom. It always-when about to enter a protest-very blandly informs the wild beast whose path it essays to stop, that its “bark is worse than its bite,” and that it only means to save its manners by enacting its decent rôle of resistance. The only practical purpose which it now subserves in American politics is to give enough exercise to Radicalism to keep it “in wind,” and to prevent its becoming pursy and lazy from having nothing to whip. No doubt, after a few years, when women’s suffrage shall have become an accomplished fact, conservatism will tacitly admit it into its creed, and thenceforward plume itself upon its wise firmness in opposing with similar weapons the extreme of baby suffrage; and when that too shall have been won, it will be heard declaring that the integrity of the American Constitution requires at least the refusal of suffrage to asses. There it will assume, with great dignity, its final position.”

If people are just entering the country and disappearing to sanctuary cities, this new process is functionally illrelevant to the underlying problem. It’s almost like people don’t know fascism was created as an over correction to communist uprisings. What you’re seeing now is a less extreme example. Without the full blown armed counter culture revolution you won’t have the rise of armed counter revolutions (black shirts, etc). The reason we’re getting a polarized balanced Mexican standoff. Is the counter culture is not aggressive enough to cause a forced resolution. The passive aggressive moral superiority simply isn’t threatening enough to justify violence as a response.
It’s essentially like if some was being passive aggressive and poking you constantly. But you would be an asshole if you beat their ass. The counter culture just got smarter and instead inches passively. Whereas in the past they were violent and easier to rally support around openly fighting. And counter culture is more accurate as it’s not just commies. The commies might have the biggest balls and be the only decent fighters in the general cluster. And will inevitably subdue the rest after their use has ran out. But it’s important to recognize there’s a blend of left leaning people.

barely. politics is still progressive no real wins have been made yet. like at all. the phrase "meet the management same as the old one" is apt here.

It’s going to swing back towards the left again when the right starts another Satanic panic over video games, like it had in the 90s and the far left right now.

I went from Bernie enthusiast in 2015 to mass deportation enjoyer in 9 years, mostly cause of left wing purity testing, gaslighting, and shocking over reach.

The border bill from the democrats was a Ukraine/Israel/Taiwan defense bill in the guise of a border bill that sought to expand the asylum system that millions of people are fraudulently taking advantage of rather than addressing it. I would urge you to read the actual language of that bill. I’m not saying here that there weren’t any political reasons whatsoever behind rejecting it but I’m also saying that it was a shit bill that would give legislative authority to the executive to continue the asylum fraud pipeline while also giving him the power to grant work permits (Which will cause more people to flood in illegally) and amnesty/ eventual citizenship. Both of which would be disastrous for our country’s border as it would further incentivize people to come here illegally.

no, dev, the democrats border bill wasn't an actual attempt to moderate their illegal immigration stance (and the republicans didn't kill it "just" as a political move). the bill was an increase in illegal immigration bill, pretending to be about securing the border. don't go telling that bullshit, unless you wanna do a full video where you actually read the bill and what it does, and explain how it is actually a good moderate bill that will reduce people illegally crossing the border (when in fact it gives (increases) amnesty for X aliens per day, something that doesn't exist in law atm).
i love your detailed videos on subjects, because you tend to do good research, get into the weeds a bit, and even if i disagree with your conclusions at times, at least you put in good effort and do a good job laying out the (currently known) facts.
