    Thanks for watching :) What was your favourite (or least favourite) part of the castle?
    I personally loved the cypress garden and the dining hall the most, although the side garden with the waterfall was quite nice as well.
    That said, my least favourite would be the master bedroom. I tried something different and it just looks way too chaotic… I wish I redid the entire room and tried a few more designs or just made the room smaller.

      I really like the sectioning and the colors in each section. You've done such a great job in color blocking the areas and the lighting is chef's kiss. Which plot did you make your castle? The space is so huge! Or is it two plots that you bridged together?

    • @Aether_Ray

      @@welldan Thank you! I'm glad I went with differently coloured sections/rooms instead of the blue castle design I had before. It makes each area feel different, which can be hard in such a large castle... Glad you liked the lighting as well. Spent waaay too much time experimenting with that... but I love the lighting in this game so I couldn't help it :P
      For the plot, I made it in that large, isolated, circular-ish plot in the northwest of Silverlight. I show the exact location in my extended version around 50 seconds in.

    Now this is the castle design that I want to build. It's very beautiful very cozy and it feels a lot like home, the courtyard and garden really stole my heart with this castle design, even the items are customized the amount of effort and passion here is absolutely perfectly finesse!

    Wonderful.
    The end view of the castle was epic.
    If I lived there, the library was beautiful.
    I'd spend my time there with a bit of whiskey, a pipe, any a book.

    Only seen the outside so far, and it looks amazing. Very much looking forward to starting on a proper build, like this. I just started my first castle for function, so I could progress. I do like the plot (probably my favourite one in the first area, as it's one of the only plots that still has two tiers) so I will likely re design it.
    I have started to do a bit of architecture on the second tier (I've built up 3 floors on top of that now, so technically 4) but the first house will need remodelling (at the moment I have the first tier and second tier only connected by an exterior staircase, but will likely enclose that at some point, if possible)
    I might even use the first tier for mostly gardens, with a grand entrance, and maybe some storage and stuff off to the sides. At the moment I'm using the first tier for workshops, and I'm building upper tier as my Vampires house.
    Are the plots generally bigger, in the end game zones?

    • @Aether_Ray
      @Aether_Ray  4 месяца назад

      Thanks! I'm glad you liked the outside of my castle :)
      Smart strategy with your functional castle. Good to beat most of the game and then do a lot of decorating, since you have more resources and decorative options then.
      I like the idea of your first tier mostly being gardens (especially if your plot has a lot of beautiful natural features), but I'm also pretty biased since I love the gardens in this game ;) A nice/grand entrance is always nice and very important.
      As for the plots, I would say a lot of the very large and easy-to-use plots are outside of Farbane. There are still some large ones in Farbane with some cool features, but most of the ones I used in the past have been split up and don't look as nice now... Additionally, I'd also argue that the other zones (excluding Gloomrot South, unless you like yellow mutated rivers and pyros setting everything on fire...) have nicer natural features in or near their plots. That's just my personal taste though, and of course different designs can work better in different zones.

    Have you thought about doing this same style castle on the same plot but make it more functional with forge workshop etc.

    • @Aether_Ray
      @Aether_Ray  3 месяца назад +1

      I did think about that, but I decided against it as it didn't feel right for this castle. With the grand decor, guest areas and peaceful gardens, it felt wrong having loud industrial machines near or in the castle. A forge room or jewelry may have been cool though... I also have a separate functional castle that I used to craft everything, so I didn't really need anything functional in this one.

      @@Aether_Ray I agree with what you said. When I saw this for the first time I was like now this is a proper castle for a vampire lore to live in luxury.

    I’m going mental with this: how did you cover both environmental ramps????

    • @Aether_Ray
      @Aether_Ray  3 месяца назад +2

      I didn't really cover both ramps. One ramp is the enclosed staircase at 5:04 and the other is the open staircase at 8:18. I did offset the staircases so the building appears more symmetrical (hence why one appears to be covered up). Hope that answers your question. If not, I'm working on uploading the save file so people can explore the castle in the world. If you'd like, I can reply to this once I've done that so you can check it out for yourself!

    Great build, Loved everything expect the royal rooms and the throne room. The layout of the wall and the floor was fine but rooms them self needed work, The new throne that came out with Dracula death gives a needed spice, and the royal rooms need a total rework, way too much stuff it was crazy messy, and it felt like it didn't know what to do with the space.

    • @Aether_Ray
      @Aether_Ray  5 месяцев назад

      Thanks for the advice! I totally agree. To be honest, I didn’t know what to do with those top floor rooms. Just too much space for a bedroom, but I didn’t want to section it into smaller rooms. I also wanted to try something… different and crazy. Didnt quite work. I also just wanted to finish the building at that point lol. For the dracula throne, I really wanted to use it but it kept clipping through the wall a little bit and looked a bit too big for the room… I want to use it in a castle though, since it’s such a beautiful and grand throne

    How long did this take to create? I'm still decorating my castle in a way smaller plot and it's taking a long time

    • @Aether_Ray
      @Aether_Ray  5 месяцев назад +1

      This took me about 3-4 weeks to build. I did go on vacation for a week, which slowed my building a bit. Not sure if that’s short or long for a castle to be honest… most of the castles I built were before they added 2 story castles, and those took about a week max for the larger ones.

    Love the castle man, I'm trying building one too and I have a question. How do I let the floor open the way u did in the stairway at the entrance lobby? I CANNOT find a way to stop the roof from spawning there in the middle. Any tips?

      To get the floor to open up, just use the "Invisible Foundation" in the Castle -> Foundation tab. Fill in the roof sections with this tile and they go away.

      A tough question... I'm working on a video going over this as I'm building my next castle, but here's the "short" version:
      Plot size/shape really matters and changes everything. Normally I pick smaller plots and build around their unique shapes. This time, I picked this beautifully large plot which opens up a lot of design possibilities.
      In general, I start by experimenting with different features until something stands out or looks unique. This could be the throne room and battle arena in my first unfinished castle, or the grand staircase flanked by two upper gardens leading up to the main entrance for this castle. This main feature will be the focus for my castle, and I’ll build around that.
      If space allows, I will always have an outdoor area in front of the castle. Behind the front entrance I'll have a foyer/main lounge. This will usually contain the first level staircase, as there is just something special about opening the doors to the castle and seeing a grand staircase. Depending on the plot, there could be hallways behind and/or to the sides of the foyer.
      As I come across natural features such as rivers, immovable rocks, cliffs, quality views, and bridges, I try to incorporate them into my design (usually with gardens or balconies). Castles tend to feel lifeless to me when these natural features are ignored or built over.
      As for making a multi-storey castles, I like to build inwards. The side wings must be shorter than the centre portion of the castle. Additionally, I avoid large walls and prefer slanted/staggered roofs, meaning the interior size of the castle decreases as you go up each floor.
      Gosh that was still a long explanation... hope that's fine :P

      @@Aether_Ray yeah it's helpful! I'm tending to have trouble actually having something set and thinking I need to use all the room need! I'm still trying to figure out building rooms to my liking or not wanting to throw it all away

    • @Aether_Ray
      @Aether_Ray  Месяц назад +1

      @@TwistedExisted894 Yeah, building rooms is pretty tough... The major issue I had is trying to make them look different and unique. If you end up with too much room, that's not always a bad thing. Carpets can make rooms look smaller by simply adding detail to it. You can also make a small lobby between rooms or outside of them, or balconies/patios outside. You can also shrink larger rooms into multiple 2 or 3 tile rooms. That's what I did for many of my servant rooms. :)

    • @TwistedExisted894
      @TwistedExisted894 Месяц назад

      @@Aether_Ray I'll definitely have to give that a try! I'll see about a big staircase in the middle and then rooms on the side

  • @Wortigon2000
    @Wortigon2000 5 месяцев назад +1

    I really liked the idea how you eliminated the issues that come from building a huge building with elevation changes in the terrain. Thn again, I kinda didn't like the sheer fact that the build was purely aesthetic, with no function whatsoever. (no workshop, no forge, no alchemy lab, no tailor, no jeweler, nothing that'd give function to a base outside of the throne and the followers.
    This could only make sense for someone who already has full legendary gear in every slot. Full armor, and every weapon type, with really good rolls.
    Even after that, unless you use "creative mode", you'd need those to get resources for your decorative builds.
    Alternatively, I can easily imagine you have multiple bases, one of which has all the functional stuff, while this is for aesthetic purposes only.

    • @Aether_Ray
      @Aether_Ray  5 месяцев назад

      Hey! Thanks for the input :)
      This castle is supposed to be purely aesthetic, and was sort of a challenge I set for myself to see if I could make a really beautiful castle in V-Rising. I had a functional castle (with all of those workshops, forges, etc.) in Farbane where I farmed all of the materials for this castle. I probably could have made some rooms look "functional", but only for decorative purposes as I did all of my crafting in my Farbane base. I have some extra context in the video description. If you're interested in seeing my productive/functional castle, I can do a quick recording of it and link it as an unlisted video, although it really is nothing spectacular.
