I bought one of these last year, 2023. The gas tank situation is really aggravating for me. Although you can easily see the tank it doesn't show the gas unless the gas is dyed. And you have no warning of when the fuel runs out other than a hiccup and then it dies. So I put a cheap no contact level sensor on it. The fill neck too is at an angle is not funnel friendly and is quite restrictive as it fills, I assume for emissions. Oil drain hose is 3 inches too short. They run hot at +230F so I put a oil cooler on it. But it a great mower for mowing fast, cut 20 minutes off my ~2 acer mow vs my slow front mow JD F510.
Haha, it’s funny you say that. I’ve already run out of gas mowing my neighbors since I couldn’t tell what was in the tank. That is something I don’t really like. So now I just over load the gas until I can really tell it won’t empty on me 😂. I don’t personally use a funnel to fill it as my gas tank has a nice fill tube which eliminated the need. All in all I agree it is a great mower. I’ve been floored that I only have low 40’s in hours of use when mowing 2 lawns all year this year and mine last year. Just really a testament to how much time it saves. Thanks for the comment and watching!
I did the yearly maintenance and my engine only took 1 and 1/4 qt of oil and everything I’ve read says it should take 2. I changed the filter so I know it’s not that. I picked this up at Home Depot so I’m a little worried about it. Mower does t seem to run hot, the dip stick says the oil is full. It’s nagging at me
That does seem low. It recommends “approx 2”. Did you use change the filter and maybe get a smaller filter? The 2 qts is with filter. I would keep an eye on it. It’s recommended to check oil level before each use, so that can definitely help with peace of mind. If all else fails you could try calling your local JD dealer and verify it’s fine, or if really concerned have them take a look. It doesn’t sound all that terrible but I understand not wanting to make a $3500+ mistake.
When checking oil level, do not screw oil dipstick in, simply push dipstick in until threads touch the dipstick holder rim. This is why you are seeing full oil instead of undefiled when not having added the recommended oil quantity. "Cheers"!
Hey, Yes I can agree that when engaging the blades there is a sudden almost violent vibration, but only lasts for a few moments then stops. And same here, everything is tight and nothing functioning poorly. I guess it must just be the “process” of this model.
You should engage the blades at low engine speed. And the blades need to be centered on the spindles. They don't seem to be self centering so may be off.

@@Backyardsurvival-5 always shows full. Same exact oil filter, 2 oil changes now same thing. Dealer wants like $200 to look at it
@@XD9rottie well if it’s working fine with no issues, maybe it’s an if it ain’t broke don’t fix it 🤷♂️
@@Backyardsurvival-5yea kinda thinking that myself. It still bothers me a little though

How much did pay
Without looking it up, I believe it was right around $3,600
Hey
Does your belt have a lot of vibration when you engage the blades? Mines seems like the idler pulley is a little shaky. But it’s tight.
Thanks

I noticed the same
