    Nice work explaining the dynamics. Im not opposed to getting a new or used SJ. I have the SXR 1500 and an old 550.. it’s hilarious switching back and forth because they are so different. SXR is so much fun on a slalom buoy course but 550 is my wave jumper.

    I had an sxr800 10 years ago. i'm planning on maybe get back to jetskis and try the 1500.
    even tho my 800 was not as good as a superjet for freestyle, i could do enough to have fun, and power was perfect for me.
    What i'm wondering is if you can submarine a 1500 like i could with my 800. Wether it was by bunny hop or jumping a big wake, because that was the thing i liked the most, jump a good wake, wide open then push the front end and dive in the water, damn that was fun!

  • @keithdumas

    Basically in a nutshell the new Yamaha SJ falls short. Congratulations Yamaha you had a perfect chance at giving Kawasaki a black eye and you failed.... I'm not partial to either brand as I happily own both brands.To sum it up they'll have to make a class for the superjet, how disappointing. Reminds me of the Blaster/HX days but thankfully I was an HX owner. As far as freestyle, I'll stay on the much smaller and lighter SJ or spend the 10k on a Krash Ind. ski... Thanks PWR for the unbiased review.

    How about the nose weight. I have three seasons on an SX-R. Top speed is incredible, power too, however being "old" and having seasons on a 300, 550, 650, and a few rides on a 750... the SX-R feels larger. It doesn't turn as easy, thus the comments on "man handling". I have been able to run courses and find it as capable. Jumping is amazing and I've been high in the air. However, I know the SX-R is nose heavy with the gas tank up front. How does the Yamaha feel with jumping, and weight distribution? How about freestyle? Kawasaki is too buoyant for some old tricks. Next, tail spin. SX-R sticks to the water so long as I have my inside foot at the back. It will not let go. Wonder and assume the Yamaha has the same feeling. Thanks for a great video.

    • @ProwatercraftCOM
      @ProwatercraftCOM  3 года назад

      Our biggest plus with the SuperJet has been its size in comparison to the SXR. The SXR has its moments but the SuperJet is a lot easier to maneuver for goofing around and freeriding, tail spins, stands and jumps are much easier. Now when it comes to "freestyle" they both might be too heavy -- maybe we need to do some proper tricks to see!

    Do the same comparison after all the mods! But honestly they aren’t made to be compared. If they were I think we would have seen a bigger motor and bigger hull. Yamaha went for something a little more playful and lighter and that’s why there is a full different “4 stroke lites” class.

    • @ProwatercraftCOM

      In stock form, the new SuperJet actually feels quite a bit slower than the 800 SXR. A few motor mods and that should perk it up a little. Stability is close to the same between this ski and the SXR 800. This ski air draws quite a bit, so it doesn't want to turn as well as the SXR 800 -- but we're on it! Cool mods on the way.

When can we get a company that is okay with making a FUN standup that is also fun on the course? You're telling me Yamaha, Kawasaki, or SeaDoo cant make a "fun AND competitive" standup? (I do know SeaDoo never made a standup but definitely could, just chose no to) I call BULL! Probably just not enough buyers in this market segment? IDK but am I the only one getting sick of paying an arm and a leg for 550 650/750 skis and parts that are 25 or 30 years old at this point. Is there anyone in the industry that is concerned about us, or probably not really? Wish there was because I'd feel a lot more comfortable spending 8-12k on a ski that doesn't just PLOW through the water.
