Ryan was one of my favorite participants. He earned respect and learned how things ran. He came in a bit cocky but, proved that he was as intelligent as he claimed to be.

That's the problem when you're more intelligent than a majority of the population, sometimes your social skills are lacking because you can't relate to anyone. I have a friend who formerly worked for NASA who has this problem, he doesn't relate to people and can come across as condescending at times but he really doesn't mean it. He's just a ridiculously intelligent human and he even admits he struggles a little socially.

EMT places defibrillators on Abner's chest. Abner opens his eyes, grabs EMT by the shirt before he shocks Abner. Abner - "Are you a wood or Chicano?"

I’m glad to see my man Ryan up here. He was a very underrated and forgotten participant having been on an early season. That man got cool with everyone and was running his own trading store long before Tony, and was doing so well the sheriff was worried he was becoming “too inmate like”. Lol
facts im remember that season maybe it was the first i forgot but it was definitely one of the early ones
Thank you! Ryan is one of my favorite participants. He was hated cause he was smart. He was a know it all sometimes but in the end his knowledge is what got him respect in there. He fixed Garzas hand and the sherif thought that if he did that then he would owe Garza. It’s really the other way around! Garza owes Ryan now and everyone thought it was awesome that he could fix a broken hand.

I have not seen seasons 1-4, but after watching season 5, it is hard to imagine anyone could have played their part better than Abner.
You gotta watch 3 & 4 for Nate. He the only one that tops Abner in my eyes. Nate really had these people respect him for him. Plus his roomie Desmond made things smooth.
People are just mad cause everyone else was avoiding, Abner said I'm AB the inmate & that's what he said from day 1. He established his place from jump, especially not being from the area & that's really how jail works.

You've obviously never been locked up. There politics and rules you have to follow that only get more strict when you go to prison. That last guy johnny really hit home for me. My pops is an alcoholic and I'm in recovery myself but I've seen him go at my mother being verbally abusive and just like Johnny, i, squared up to my pops and he backed down real quick. We need more people like that in this world

@@losvega5004 if the guy in the clip just said "you shouldn't speak to women like that" then nobody would really think anything other then its something like his own personal code but the way he he kept going and escalated would send red flags to everyone cause its one of two things: either he's a potential snitch trying to get in good with the guards, a guy who likes to make a lot of noise and get attention or he thinks the female is cute which could lead her flirtingwith him to get info out of him, any of those scenarios are bad for dude cause somebody will check him eventually

Honestly, I’ve heard of male inmates turning female CO’s and using them to bring them whatever they want in jail. There’s even a story that made National news of male inmate flirting with female CO and she ended up helping him escape. So it’s not as cut and dry as you made it out to be and plenty of other inmates would know that you are just trying to work over the female CO and wouldn’t have any problem with you doing that.
