  • What does a week look like in an off-grid cabin for a family of three?
🌱 Getting water from the stream
🌱 Collecting power off the grid
    🌱 Heating up the cabin
🌱 Cleaning up everything from 1 year of renovations
🌱 Experiencing shifting spring weather in Sweden
🌱 Anti-inflammatory baking with the wood stove
🌱 Enjoying life and keep building dreams
    RECIPES:
All recipes are inspired by Maria Borelius
    Anti-inflammatory breakfast porridge:
    Water
    a handful of dried berries/raisins
    1 tbsp (tablespoon) turmeric
    1 tbsp ginger
    1 tbsp cinnamon
    1 tbsp cardamom
    a pinch of black pepper
    a pinch of salt
    1 dl (deciliter) linseeds
    1 dl sesameseeds
    1 dl chia seeds
    1 dl nuts
Boil and add oatmeal until it's porridge
Add milk, perhaps fresh fruit or berries and enjoy ♡
    -----------------------------
Banana oat Cake with spices & chocolate:
    2 ripe bananas
Perhaps leftover porridge from the morning
    2-4 eggs
    1 tsp (teaspoon) turmeric
    1 tsp ginger
    1 tsp cinnamon
    1 tsp cardamon
a pinch of salt and pepper
appropriate amount of chopped dark chocolate
Some glutenfree flour OR oatmeal (eg. buckwheat, rice, oat or almond flour)
Mix until it has a thick consistency
    Pour into forms
and bake for about 20 minutes on 200°C
until it's beautifully brown on top and you can stick a fork in without getting dough on
Enjoy with cream and perhaps berries or jam ♡
    -----------------------------
    Golden Good morning Drink:
    1 tsp fresh ginger
    1 tsp fresh turmeric
    1/2 freshly squeezed lemon
    pinch of black pepper
    boiled water
Enjoy in your favourite cup ♡

Its usually called " the dump " where you 'dump' stuff .
The log wall is the best wall ever , I wouldn't even change it .
Sometimes I put the pretty view of that wall on my screen for hours to inspire me all day .
The doors are the best , natural wood is so beautiful. It just hurts my heart when people paint it .
The wide trim around the doors and windows is so perfect.
    Happy , happy Spring !!!

Ahh, yes I’ve definitely heard that before (the dump) 😉
We must keep the wall for you then ☺️
But I’m so so sorry to tell you, we are gonna paint the doors to fit the traditional Swedish style 😬 It’s gonna be really cute though. Maybe light blue or green. (Julian suggested white) 🥱
Thank you for being here and being you 🥰

Love the thought of keeping that old wall. I'd definately do so - I'd wire brush it lightly to remove loose debris and any dry rot / mould, then I'd oil it with a outdoor furnature oil like Tung Oil. :-) It'll look lovely and add a nice feature to your living room 🙂

I also discovered I had a beautiful old wall when renovating the kitchen at my torp (in VGL). I wasn't sure I wanted to keep it bare because of insulation issues, but from an old builder I was told I could use a mixture of rye, sand and linseed oil in any open crack I wanted to seal. I suppose it might be an old Danish recipy, so that might be something you could look out for. It is as you can see also a sustainable solution for an old torp. Btw, strange door, it must be something gone wrong in production!

Never swinging the axe in this way at your own direction!!!
There is a stone unter the wood? No way!
You should use a chopping block, please.

      @AnnieJulian  Год назад +1

      You’re right 😊 I’m still practicing.
You are the first one to notice the stone! You’re absolutely right, it’s a terrible idea. Julian is so skilled, he never hits the stone. And I don’t chop as much. Would you belive me if I said we haven’t found a chopping block yet? 😄 It’s high on the wish list. But it needs to be dry. The blocks around here are falling apart. But as soon as we have a reason to cut down a bigger tree, a chopping block is on top of the list.
